TRAIN TIME: 2023 Halloween Train Layout - Pt 3 Ruh-Roh! It's Scooby Doo

I have two Lionel Halloween-themed train sets. An earlier post highlighted the Lionel Set #2123060 Hallow's Eve Limited Graveyard Route from 2021 which was on the track for a week and a half or so. Then it was swapped out with Lionel Set #6-85241T Scooby-Doo The Mystery Machine Set from 2018. I have to say that of all my train sets, the Scooby Doo is among the favorites. It has a spooky bell and dialogue featuring the voice of Scooby and an assorted ghoul or two - a very fun set indeed! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

The set includes an engine, gondola with a ghost chasing Shaggy and Scooby, a boxcar, and a lighted caboose.

The large box has the track, the small one is just a filler piece.

This Year's Haunted Village (aka Spooky Town) Halloween Set-up - Pt 2

Okay, now where did I leave off? hmmm

welll, more toys and things got added to this year's Halloween Spooky Village display for one. Although I must say that it really isn't 'spooky' so much as it is just plain ol' fun. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

This year's Halloween Village will only take up about half the space as last year's but it'll still be packed with lots of fun details

Vintage Kinder Egg ghosts just going about their daily business

Hiding behind those trees is a vintage MPC monster figure holding a head - ewwww

In this town, the Stay Puft Marshmallow man is just the dumb kid next store and totally harmlesss!

Lionels' Pumkinhead handcar alongside Lionel ALCO's

Some vintage Kinder Egg toys on display

Guss Hadley has a Y'allTube channel I subscribe to called "Guss Hadley The Lunatic From Arno". I dedicated the "Shadybrook" Sanitarium (Ray Keim's Haunted Dimensions paper model) to him.

That cathedral to the right is nice but the scale is quite small. For now it'll remain on the layout but it'll be replaced by the Papermau version.

This year's Halloween train is a combination of Lionel ALCO's in New Haven livery along with some Menard's and Lionel cars - all in black and orange in keeping with the season. I have Milwaukee Road cars buried here somewhere but may have to leave them out - can't find 'em at the moment LOL

I started filming and then the batteries in the camera died! hahahahaha, but I had enough 'film' to do a video

Here's the run session done with a fresh set of batteries

Started This Year's Haunted Village (aka Spooky Town) Halloween Set-up - Pt 1

This week I started pulling out my Halloween stuff for this year's Spooky Town display. All regular work on my Milwaukee North Western layout will be on hold until after the season. Here are the first pics o taken after the initial set-up and it's a sure thing this will likely change in the days to come. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

My Halloween Spookytown Village and Train Display For 2020

I get so wrapped up in other projects (or life in general) that, unfortunately, holidays come and go with me being absolutely, totally, zero percent prepared for them. Holiday train displays are few and far between, more so since room to make them has simply disappeared for the most part. There's no room in the house so I have to cobble together a display out in The Cave. It's still fun but, like I said, sometimes life happens and I just don't have time. This year I really wanted to do a Halloween display so I set my sights on it early, clearing off my small plot of toy train real estate out in The Cave. I also built another cardboard buildg this year - The Shadybrook Sanitarium - the first one in four years. I like how the display turned out but gosh what can I do to get more room out there for the next display besides bulldoze the joint? LOL Here's some pics from this years Halloween Spookytown Village. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
