Safari Ltd No. 1118 Dragon Hatchlings (2012)

"Where's Hagrid? I just bought these from a stranger in town and need to know how to take of them?"

Here's a nifty little pair of dragons from Safari Ltd. Guess I'll need to get off my posterior and make some kind of cave display huh? They measure: 1 1/2" (3.81cm) D x 2" (5.08cm) W x 1 3/4" (4.44cm) H. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Safari Ltd No. 10132 Ghost Dragon 2016

I meant to post this during the Halloween season butwith everything going on around here, it just got too busy for me to do much blogging. Anywho - better late than never. This critter combines both spooky holiday decor with dragons and was perfect for this year's Halloween train set-up which BTW I know I didn't do well in posting. To make up for that I'll present the photo essay for the dragon as well as give you Y'allTube links to the final running sessions of the Halloween trains. The Ghost Dragon measures 5 1/2" (13.97cm) H x 5 1/2" (13.97cm) L Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Safari Ltd Brachiosaurus (1998)

Here's a critter we haven't covered before: Brachiosaurus. From the generic Greek term meaning "arm lizard' for its extremely long 'arms' this herbivore roamed the earth during the Late Jurrasic around 154-152mil years ago. Originally thought to be cold-blooded - or ectothermic - it is now being considered as possibly warm-blooded and is estimated to have been around 18 and 21 meters (59 and 69 ft) long.

This Safari Ltd version from 1998 is a pretty big sucker at 9" (22.86cm) L 8 1/2" (21.59cm) H - certainly much bigger than any of its vintage Marx and MPC cousins. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Playing With Dino's (6)

Here's some modern era toy dino's using the set-up for the Marx toys. We now have a small problem in regards to dino size vs. trees. The modern era dino's from Safari Ltd, PNSO, Collect A, etc., are all much larger than the vintage stuff and dwarf the Marx, Toy Street, or modern era Chinese aquarium decoration Palm trees. There are taller Palm's available but they're pricey and for any diorama requiring many trees, they get to be quite pricey. Another option is to forego that whole tropical look and opt for various Evergreens which come in larger sizes for abit less than Palm trees. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Playing With Dino's (5) - The Trek

One of the more interesting shots I've done recently is this Woolly Mammoth trek through the hills using MPC, Marx, Safari, and one Mammoth from an unknown manufacturer. Using different sized figures creates a forced perspective. At the very front of the line are two MPC Woolly's which are the smallest I have. Just behind them are two Marx Woolly's which a re slightly bigger. Followed are two recent acquisitions from Micheal's Craft Store - Safari Ltd Woolly Mammoth's. The largest one nearest the camera is Manny from 'The Ice Age' but I don't know who made the figure. The night effect and illusion of snow was done when I converted the image from color to B&W in Photoshop. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
