MPC Pirate Job Lot with Large Original Ship

I hit the jackpot with this lot! Just a few days after acquiring the small lot with naval cannon, this presents itself! Figures, all the accessories, cannon, large ship with gangplank! It's all here. The ship has wooden dowels for masts and after a little research I believe those to be correct. Later, MPC would make one-piece masts from plastic. The one thing I forgot to do was the complete photo essay on the ship. Sorry! I'll have to get that done before long but The Cave doesn't allow for extended periods of work right now and there's so much to do. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

PIRATES: MPC Pirate with Firing Cannon Job Lot

With each job lot large or small, I was able to add original MPC items I didn't already have. This terrific set had a nice figure with original hat, and  holding a belaying pin whilst guarding his treasure chest. But the real gem is the firing naval cannon which still had two rounds. It was common for MPC cannon's to come with round shots as well as shells. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

While a cannon such as this might be found on a pirate ship, MPC's ship's are a bit too small to accommodate it nicely

The barrel elevates but I didn't take photos of it in a raised position

A Look at MPC's Breech Loading Cannon's - Pt 8 (Final) Non-Shooting Cannon with Spoked Wheels - Olive Green SP

This is gonna wrap it up for the whole MPC/Multiple Plastics/Miner Industries gaggle of cannon's - at least until I find and photograph more variations.

From the later 'safer' era of '70s playsets comes this cannon without a spring or rubber band to allow it to fire (and there was no ammo included in the set). This was taken directly from the Miner Industries Playset No. 1753 Army Action Squadron Task Force. It's odd in that here we have a spoked wheel cannon included in a set which represents mid-20th century warfare! Huh? Well, as I've learned from buying several of these sets, Miner Industries threw whatever they had into what - I have been told - were excess boxes! No two of my set contents in this same box are alike! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

A Look at MPC's Breech Loading Cannon's - Pt 7 Silver SP with Spoked Wheels

I don't know why but I like silver toys. Silver spaceships, silver cars and trucks, silver army men, and in this case: silver cannon. I noticed that the wheels on this sample are thicker, beefier than the ones posted previously. Yet another variation! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

A Look at MPC's Breech Loading Cannon's - Pt 6 Gray SP with Spoked Wheels

The cannon posted yesterday gave me fits when photographing it. It looked gray up close and personal, yet when looked at side-by-side with my other cannon's I could definitely tell there were bluish tints to it. That would not be uncommon for a toy company to mix whatever colors they had available to use of raw stock. Today's cannon is most definitely gray - no blue here folks! Enjoy! Opa Fritz
