Unk Mfr - Tin Auto Laundry with Small Plastic Cars

These photos were taken in 2017 AND I found my 2017 notebook with all the toy photo annotations and there are no notes for this sucker!! Well don't that just beat all? Damn!

Okay fine. I came across this interesting little tin-litho auto laundry many years ago and the autos you see came with it. Are they the original autos? I have no clue, but their size is just right for the thing. Unfortunately, this is another case where I didn't have the foresight to do photo essays on each of these cars. The toy's roof is bent downward a bit but otherwise it's in okay shape. There is a band on the entrance ramp which then goes through the main structure. Once a car is placed on it, one turns the crank and the car moves forward on the band. The car is supposed to exit off the exit ramp automatically by simply sliding down it. In the absence of notes I guesstimate this to be about 12"L x 6"-7"W. I could go out in The Cave and measure it except that it's in a box buried under other boxes - and it's cold out there! 😂 Enjoy! It's a Small World After All: Unk Mfr - Small Army Staff Car - Gray HP

This post wraps it up for the small plastic cars. Next will be trucks, and buses, and...

With no identifying marks on this little guy, it's hard for me to match it to a manufacturer. I haven't found anything like it over at the Toy Soldier HQ website. Unlike, the Pyro Army staff car posted yesterday with the star heat-stamped on the roof, this one has the star molded into the body casting. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

It's a Small World After All: Pyro Small Army Auto with Star

This olive drab Pyro car differs from the one featured yesterday in that a white star has been heat-stamped on the roof making it beyond doubts an Army staff car. We're a few posts into this series and I should mention that some of these cars make appearances in Bill Hanlon's book, "DIMESTORE DREAMS, Plastic Toys of the '40s &'50s". They are all shown as being part of a set with either a service station or a simple plastic garage, etc. Had I shown more foresight years ago when I was photographing these, I could've placed these in a grouping along with some of the toys shown in that book because I have the other pieces as well. Oh well, we'll plow through what I do have. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
