CIRCUS TIME: First Aid For A Vintage Toy Tableau Circus Wagon -Pt 3 Finito

Unlike so many other projects posted here, this one - while having taken a while to complete - was actually just finished up last week. As I've said, this was not a restoration but rather a repair. All the components have been re-glued, a new sub-base added, and reins from thread attached. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

The bloody #@$!!**# damn camera wouldn't cooperate: either the horses were in focus or the wagon, but not both

CIRCUS TIME: More Wagon Pics From Baraboo, Wisconsin 1991 - Pt 11 Wagon Odds-&-Ends

We're not quite through with Baraboo just quite yet. Today we'll look at some odds-&-ends photos of wagon details. Part of the museum's displays are carvings surviving from wagons that are now lost but one of the other things I found fascinating was the detail work that went into the wagons themselves. Some detail pics have already been shown here on the blog, these here were just random photos I took but never took notes as to what wagon they came from. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

CIRCUS TIME: A Couple of Random Post Cards In My Collection

I had these two post cards in the same photo album as my Baraboo photos, but there were no corresponding photos from Baraboo. So now I have to wonder: did I actually see these at Baraboo and just didn't take photos OR are they post cards I purchased just because? Oh hell, who cares! LOL Enjoy! Opa Fritz

This wagon was on the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus after the Sells-Floto Circus was closed following the 1932 season. When the Hagenbeck-Wallace show went belly up in California in 1938, Louis Goebel and the Studios got almost all of the wagons. By renting wagons to studios, Goebel saved many of these wagons and eventually donated them to the Circus World Museum. Millions of dollars was spent by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing co. to transport these wagons from California to Baraboo and then restore them.
