HG Toys No. 867 Space Wars Playset - Pt 7 (Final) Giant Robot 55mm - Red SP

This is gonna wrap up our look at all the bits-&-pieces for HG Toys No. 867 Space Wars Playset. Today we'll check out the second of two SP 'Giant' robots HG included in a couple of their sets. I like these and they're a good size contrast to the smaller Space Commandos and Aliens.

This shot shows the robots size to good effect and they are definitely in-scale to that ginormous ladder on the space station.

HG Toys No. 867 Space Wars Playset - Pt 6 Giant Robot 55mm - Blue SP

The two 'Giant' Robots HG Toys included in a couple of their sets are pretty hard to find and to-date I've only been able to latch on to the two I'll be posting. They come in at 55mm, one in blue and one in red, both in different poses.

HG Toys No. 892 BUCK ROGERS in The 25th Century Galactic Play Set - Pt 13 40mm Character Figures - Pose 3 Twiki (Felix Silla)

I have to admit that I was not a fan of the Buck Rogers TV show. It came at a time when I was becoming increasingly disinterested in television in general (and still am) and a lot of now iconic shows simply flew under my radar (however, I did enjoy the original Battlestar Galactica!).

And then there was BUCK ROGERS in The 25th Century...

...and Twiki.

This character was not a part of the original Buck Rogers canon but rather written into the television series plot line as Buck's small robot sidekick. A lot of us simply recognize it as a cheap copy of certain Star Wars robot characters, and it was something that totally turned me off to the series. That said, here we are 40+ years later, and as an adult space toy collector I really dig the HG Toys playset - including this guy. Why? Because I don't have to hear him talk or watch his antics! 😅

Premier Products 3" (76mm) Flash Gordon / Supersonic Aces Spacemen The Adventure Continues

Our Premier astronaut, while exploring what he thought was an abandoned spaceship, encounters a watchdog robot. Although our astronaut has his personal cloaking device activated, the robot can still detect him. He then calls for backup and is joined by two of his fellow crewmembers.

Premier Products 3" (76mm) Flash Gordon / Supersonic Aces Spacemen Adventures

After completing the small series on Premier's Flash Gordon / Supersonic Aces figures, I thought to do a few quickie shots using them and some Glencoe figures. The scenario is: a Premier spaceman boards an alien ship. He activates his personal cloaking device, and a large robot appears. Not fooled by the cloaking, the robot can still detect a life form. Unknown to our intrepid spaceman, the robot is not programmed to do harm or to kill, but rather to scare...

..Good 'nuff! 😄

Lido Spacemen: 90mm Futureman Robot - Bronze HP

This robot was the last in a series of Lido 90mm spaceman 'portraits' I took last year. I really love the bronze color of this guy and he looks at home in that spaceship interior used for the photo. Be Blessed and Relish Life! Ed

Johnny Lightning Playing Mantis Diecast Lost in Space Robot B-5 (1998)

My Johnny Lightning Lost in Space collecting was always a hit-or-miss affair. I would buy a piece or two, then loose or sell it, then re-buy it. For reasons I can't explain, it just never gelled. I liked certain aspects of the Johnny Lightning series while not being crazy about the others. In addition, all of my initial collecting thrust was done while the blog was in its infancy and I had yet to settle into a photo-routine. That means a lot of the packaging never got photographed or scanned, and at times I never took measurements. As the series doesn't have all that many items in it, I may have to re-engage my collecting efforts! Somewhere out in The Cave I have the Moebius Space Pod from Lost in Space - now to find it!

The iconic B-5 robot has had so much written about it that I'm not going to re-hash any of it here, , but needless to say it's a must have for space toy collector's. Like Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet, one day I'd like to get a larger tin or plastic toy version of this. But that's a purchase for another year!

This B-5 is 2.5" (63mm) and is shown here with a Tim-Mee Galaxy Laser Team figure for comparison.
