Depressed but Busy - More Space Art

Soooo, this past Friday evening I noticed something happening to our A/C unit - it wasn't running. The temperature in the house kept rising but the unit wasn't turning on. Saturday morning I called our air conditioning company and the tech gave us the bad news - the unit was shot. The compressor as well as several other components had all failed. My choices? Repair it for around $5k or buy a new HVAC unit for $13 (after discounts). We went with the latter and the company was able to install the new unit later that afternoon. The funny thing is, for the past month or so both Bettina and I had been thinking about when this would happen: the broken unit was already eleven years old and one year past its warranty so it was time. When you consider that there are metal electrical and electro-mechanical components inside a metal housing in the desert southwest - it's amazing they last as long as they do.

So Father's Day was pretty much spent on the computer piddling around with my photos and just not wanting to think about anything...

...it's pretty much the same today.

All that being said, here's a pic I can post until my 'oomph' for taking photos and blogging returns. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

I've always wanted a large display/diorama base to setup my space toys on and take photos. Well, there's just no room for one out in The Cave so the next best thing is to play with my photos. Here, a Multiple Toymakers Golden Astronaut Pleasure Cruiser is toolin' around the solar system

Golden Astronaut: Sightseeing With the Pleasure Cruiser

"Dear Diary, Today I took the Pleasure Cruiser out for a quick spin around the Solar System. Stopped at Red Canyon and took a couple of pics, ate a candy bar, and headed back out again."  :-)  Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Multiple Toymaker's Golden Astronaut - Stage IV Interplanetary Patrol Series Set No. 914

Multiple was a master at repackaging their toys. Long time readers will remember all the packaging iterations the ring-hand figures took, along with the tanks and other toys that have appeared on the blog - and that was just the tip of the iceberg! Well, they did the same with the Golden Astronaut toys. Each of the four Stages had it's own 3-pack on a border card featuring the smaller toys. This set - No. 914 - is for Stage IV and includes the Pleasure Cruiser, Space Command Ship, and Nuclear Freighter II. You can see the whole lot here on SpaceX Central. So far, this is the only 3-pack I have. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

Multiple Toymakers Golden Astronaut - Stage IV Interplanetary Patrol Set No. 1525 (Includes: Nuclear Pulse Space Station, Space Command Ship, and Pleasure Cruiser)

The Golden Astronaut series did not include the Nuclear Pulse Space Station as a separate sale toy. Instead it was bundled in this window box Interplanetary Patrol Set No. 1525 and included: the Nuclear Pulse Space Station, Space Command Ship, and Pleasure Cruiser. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

My set was missing the two figures that came with it

Look at the price tag - this was reduced to $.99 at one time!!

Multiple Toymakers Golden Astronaut - Stage IV Interplanetary Patrol Series Pleasure Cruiser

Well folks, this is the last single carded toy in Multiple's Golden Astronaut line. I'll still have a couple more Golden Astronaut posts to make as well as some recent Triang acqusitions that just happened to show up at my door :-)

The name change from SpaceX to GA was another minimal one, going from 'Pleasure Cruiser 1' to just 'Pleasure Cruiser' . I get the impression Multiple was tired of trying to re-name everything:

"Hey Joe, what'll we call this one?"

"Oh heck, just drop the '1' we have other toys to worry about"

It measures 3 3/8" (8.57cm) L x 3" (7.62cm) wingspan x 1 1/8" (2.85cm) H and its design origins can be found here on SpaceX Central. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
