Space Art: Moon Recon

It didn't take me long to start generating cool photos using my newly finished Moonscape diorama base. Using the Day-Fran 'SPACE GLIDER' as the focal point, this image was assembled in Photoshop and the words 'SPACE GLIDER' were dithered out from the toy because it's not actually gliding here is it? Compositions using more than one image aren't possible in the free version of Chat GPT - that I'm aware of - so I'll still be doing a bit of Photoshopping.

Day-Fran Space Glider (Taiwan, 1970s) - Project S.W.O.R.D. Look-a-Like

While much of the attention last year was concentrated on preparing the Forces of Valor 1/32 scale military figures for blogging, I didn't neglect the space toys. As fatter-of-mact, much of last year was devoted to posting space or sci-fi figures and scenes - albeit the smaller sized stuff -  and starting the Moonscape diorama board recently posted here. 

Earlier this year I decided to try and flesh out my Project S.W.O.R.D.-related toys and to that end I ended up with this Space Glider by Day-Fran. While the packaging spells it out as 'Day-f-Ran' I believe the accepted convention is to call it 'Day-Fran' and it was made in Taiwan. While not branded as 'Project S.W.O.R.D.', it is a direct copy of 21st Century's Project S.W.O.R.D. branded Space Glider. And hey, the thing is complete, and it works, and it was about half the price of SWORD toys! I believe this was made about mid-1970s but there are no dates on the packaging to verify that. It measures 12" (30,48cm) L x 5" (12,70cm) W x 3.5" (8,89cm) H and operates on 2 'D'-cell batteries. It has bump-&-go action, lights that blink, and a really annoying screeching sound intended to mimic jet engine noise.

No. 215A Echo Car (Unk Mfr - Hong Kong)

The second of three 'Made in Hong Kong' Quick-Fit-Kit's is this Echo Car. I can't find any reference to the significance of calling it an "Echo Car" - no movie, or Saturday morning cartoon show, or comic book tie-in. If anyone out there has a clue let me know please. Unlike the other two kits, which are tracked vehicles, this one is clearly a spaceship. It measures:  4" (10,16cm) L x 3.125" (7,93cm) W x 1.625" (4,12cm) H.

General Mills Chex Space Patrol Cereal Premium - Yellow HP MIB 1960s - REDUX

Back on 30 Oct 2024 I posted this cereal premium still in its original packaging. Since then I decided to take it out, assemble it, and photograph it for the blog. I mean after all, when the Apocalypse hits, who's gonna miss this tiny piece of plastic! The saucer is 1.375" (3,49cm) dia. x 1.75" (4,44cm) overall length and the assembly is .625" (1,58cm) H. It opens up allowing some kiddie to perhaps place a 25¢ piece in it for safekeeping.
