Marx Training Center Figures - Putting Them To Use: Refuel

This will be my last "Putting Them To use" post for a while - need to take more photos! The inspiration for this shot is a photo I took of a 35th Supply Sq POL troop refueling a Huey on the George AFB, CA flightline back on 6 Mar, 1980. Using toys I had readily available, I recreated the scene and think it turned out well. You'll notice the Marx USAF figure is wearing a cap. That was probably standard fare when Marx made these figures back in the mid-'50s, but modern flightline procedures prohibit the wearing of headgear like this because they constitute a FOD (Foreign Object Damage) risk.

Marx Training Center Figures - Putting Them To Use: Running the Checklist

It's been a bit dodgy finding airplanes that look suitable or okay with these figures. I paired the Marx figure with a Processed Plastics F-16 and he looks good enough with it.

Marx 45mm Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines: Putting Them To Use On The Flightline

As small as Marx's 50mm airman figures are, they still dwarf the planes that were included in the playsets. I tried to pair this guy with one of my larger fighter aircraft, a KO in a Diamond (Yoshiya Kobe Yoko Ltd.) F-101 Voodoo

Marx 45mm Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines: Putting Them To Use

I said in an earlier post that I've run out of room in The Cave to do a proper setup for the Training Center playset, but a few years back I came about as close as I'm gonna get when setting up a bunch of military toys on my in-progress train layout.  As well, I have photos from other previous set-ups which also illustrates how these figures can be used - an idea is an idea regardless of when the photos were taken.

These photos were taken in 2021 on my in-progress Milwaukee North Western train layout. During this running session I pulled out my K-Line U.S. Army Train Set No. 1911 as well as some Marx Army Training Center figures and accessories

BTW, this is what the layout looked like just a month or two ago - no room for playsets!

These were taken in 2010 on my old Marxville and Plateau layout as a Veteran's Day salute. Marx made sooo many marching figures a parade seemed the best way to utilize them.

Marx 45mm 1st Series GI's (look like Payton) - Pose 15 UPDATE

The 'Small Base' variant of Pose 15 was posted on 23 Aug (Poses 16 and 17 were not designed to have bases).

For now, this concludes the updates for the 45mm Series 1 GI's. I'm really not sure if spending more dinero on job lots of figures is worthwhile. I would have to be certain there are variants I don't have before I press that 'Buy' button!
