Ross Toll and Mfg Co. - Plastic Ladder Truck - Red, White Wheels, Yellow Driver and Ladder

Yet another variation of the classic Nifty '50s Ross Tool & Mfg Co. Ladder Truck. This one has white wheels and yellow driver and ladder. I like these engines because of their retro styling. I mean, even though they were made in the '50s the body styles evoke '20s or '30s fire engine design. As real fire engines were maintained very well it probably wouldn't have been to unusual to see old timers still in service in the '50s. The toys shown here are rather basic. There's not a whole lot of detail molded in to them but I did try to capture the ax and fire extinguishers on the sides. The one we posted back in 2010 had white wheels, driver, and ladder, while last Friday's post had outriders. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina

Ross Tool & Manufacturing Co. Plastic Fire Truck - Red & Yellow w/Outriders

Another Nifty '50s toy from the early part of that decade. The last time we featured a fire truck from Ross Tool & Manufacturing was way back in November 2010, shortly after the blog's start. After slogging through photos trying to come up with today's post I found some pics of variations on this engine. The engine we posted way back in 2010 had a red body with white driver, ladder, and wheels. Today's version has a red body with yellow driver, ladder, and wheels and measures 4 3/4" (12.1cm) L x 1 1/2" (3.8cm) W x 1 3/4" 4.4cm) H. It also has two outriders which I'd never seen before in this toy - probably why I bought it to begin with!! The ladders on these are glued on but often times found missing. Enjoy! Ross Tool & Manufacturing Co Ladder Truck

Today is Fire Truck Friday in which we feature anything related to fire and emergency.  Here's a nice little ladder truck from the Ross Tool & Manufacturing Co and made during the 1950s.  At 4 3/4" long it's perfect for the 3-rail O-gauge layout. Enjoy!
