TRAIN TIME: 2023 Christmas Train Layout - Pt 4 Final (Maybe) K-Line #K-012103A North Pole Village (2004)

This may be pretty much the last update to this year's Christmas Garden. It all depends on my energy level and whether I throw in another building or add to the layout in any way. Anywho, all the buildings from two K-Line Christmas Village sets have been posted so for now I'll post some more layout photos.  Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: 2023 Christmas Train Layout - Pt 3e K-Line #K-012103A North Pole Village (2004) #K-410009 Merrie Munchies Supermarket

This is the last building in K-Line's North Pole Village. I'm not yet sure if I'm going to crack open and build the kits in their "Town of Yuletide" set as I only have room for one, maybe two more buildings on the layout and may want to do something else. 

Unlike the other Christmas Village stores from K-Line, this one was a fairly straightforward repop of Marx's original Super Market kit - at least in appearance. Only the colors were changed and holiday graphics supplied. What I really like about this kit is the option to place the original window displays (which have been painted up nicely by K-Line) in the windows or use the frosted acetate window inserts with holiday graphics. I chose the latter. Enjoy! Opa Fritz

The original window display castings are pre-painted in holiday colors

I didn't use the original window displays but rather applied the holiday stickers to the acetate inserts and used those instead. The strings of Christmas lights and "Merry Munchies" signs are printed on a heavy, adhesive backed plastic tape-like material.

The practice of pre-painting the trim on its buildings was a winner by K-Line in my book and was a notch above the original Marx offerings.

Just like the other building's in K-Line's North Pole Village, this station is a re-pop of the original Marx Suburban RR Station. Also - like the other buildings - it has the original accessory group but none of the figures. K-Line already made these stations with green roofs so all they needed to do was cast the trim and dock in red and voila', instant Christmas theme! Enjoy! Opa Fritz

TRAIN TIME: 2023 Christmas Train Layout - Pt 3c K-Line #K-012103A North Pole Village (2004) #K-402102 Reindeer Residence and Flight School

Next up in our look at K-Line's North Pole Village is the Reindeer Residence and Flight School - aka airplane hangar. This building is molded in a utilitarian blue and white scheme but with bright silver accessories. The colorful holiday stickers stand out nicely against the white and silver of the building pieces. What sets it apart though is the stamped-on lettering above the hangar door reading 

"A LOFT and ALOFT

Reindeer Residence and Flight School"

All the accessories from the original Marx hangar are there except for the airplanes and figures. Meant as a school for Santa's reindeer, you'll need to supply Santa and his compliment of flying helpers on your own dime. Enjoy! Opa Fritz
