Corgi #77322 1960s DC Comics Catmobile

Today's Sunday's Comics selection is the Corgi #77322 1960s DC Comics Catmobile and like all the others in Corgi's DC Comics line is 1/43 scale.  Ya know, I think I'm gonna make a complaint right here.  Don't know if it'll do any good (probably not) but here goes any way.  Corgi and Mattel both have put out some fine die cast Batman related cars, but has anyone else noticed that nobody puts out a set of figures to go with the cars???? Occasionally a car will have a driver figure but that's it!  Why doesn't anyone follow up with a series of stand alone figures in 1/43 (or 1/50 or 1/64 scale)??  The only stand alone super hero figures are all waaaaay too big to go well with these smaller vehicles.   It would be kinda cool to set up good guy/bad guy scenes on the layout, or make a diorama or two....

OK, 'nuff said.  Enjoy the photos!

Corgi #77301 1960s DC Comics Batmobile

Yesterday was quite the busy day.  Gosh, I was on the go from the time I got out of bed - so, the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Saturday had to be postponed until next week.  Today,  I believe we'll carry on with our Sunday Comics series of Corgi DC Comics Batmobile's.  This is the 1960s DC Comics version and it's plain to see where the design influence is derived from.  Although earlier version sported fins of one sort or another, the open top split bubble canopy was definitely inspired by the 1966 Batman TV show Batmobile designed by George Barris.  This is a terrific adaptation and I hope you enjoy!

Corgi #77309 1940s DC Comics Batmobile

Today's Sunday's Comics offering is the Corgi #77309 1940s DC Comics Batmobile.  Wow, and we thought Cadillac's had big fins in the 1950s!  I wonder if their inspiration was the 1940s Batmobile?  This jet black gem has an operating ram -just press down on front wheels and the Bat-Ram pops out!  Cool.  Hope you Enjoy!

Corgi #77315 1970s DC Comics Batmobile

Last week's Sunday Comics edition was a pretty lengthy one huh?  That was my little take on the Batcave theme and how you can work something like that into a very small space.  It's been a busy week and I haven't been able to do any more work on 'The Cave' or the layout in general.  This week we'll highlight the 1970s DC Comics Batmobile.  While Corgi has done a wonderful job translating these comic book vehicles into three dimensional toys I've got to admit - this particular Batmobile is one of the most un-inspiring and boring of the line.  Maybe it was a '70s thing but this car, in my opinion, simply has no pizazz, no panache!  But that being said, the toy itself represents just one car in a lineage dating back to the 1930s and for that deserves to be covered.  Enjoy!

Corgi #77319 2000 DC Comics Redbird

Today's Sunday Comics is another in the line of Corgi's historic look at Batman Comics vehicles as seen in the pages of DC Comics.  Some of the vehicles are Batman's, some belong to the villains, but this car is is Robin's!  It's the Redbird from the 2000 DC Comics.  Enjoy!
