notes:
This is a historic show for many reasons. The first is that this is the last gig of the 1971 tour, this date was a replacement date for the concert that was originally schedeuled on October 30th at the Music Hall in Cincinnati. A couple more reasons (and these are the good ones) are that this performance marks the last time the band ever performs 2 songs which had been staples of their setlist for quite some time, one song being The Embryo and the other one being Cymbaline.
The Embryo contained here is the longest version to have ever been recorded, lasting about 26 minutes... incredible!!! The band is quite hot this night too and therefore all the songs are performed very well in my opinion.
This is the 1st recorder for this date and unfortunately it is not complete, missing some of Echoes and all of the encore, Blues. This is, however, the better sounding of the 2 recorders for this date a deserves a very nice EX- rating. It's something special when you get all these goodies in one RoIO, please enjoy responsibly!

Comments:
Within the space of a few hours, two versions of Led Zeppelin's Holland show on 1980-06-21 appeared on two different bootleg torrent websites, the first being a complete audience source and the second an incomplete soundboard. The soundboard was Tarantura's "Rotterdam 1980" and the audience tape a direct transfer from the source used in TDOLZ's release "Not Guaranteed to Wake You".
This is a matrix release. The end result is, in my opinion, well worth it and should be downloaded by any Zeppelin fan as an excellent introduction to their 1980 tour, and as an upgrade to any current version of this gig. So far as I know this is the most complete and best-sounding version available.
Audience source up to the beginning of the Rain Song, and then soundboard throughout.
In the process of bringing together and editing the recordings, I've applied tasteful EQ, noise reduction and smoothing out of a few odd bumps and recording errors. The audience recording is now especially improved.

Pink Floyd: Azimuth Coordinator Discs 1&2 (Vancouver 1975-04-18) shn

Recorded live in Vancouver, B.C. on April 18th, 1975.

One of the greatest features of a PF live show was the presentation of music yet to be released. Throughout their history, they gave their audiences a taste of what was yet to come, works in progress. On this recording we get a sample of the "Animals" album that would be released 2 years later.
"Raving and Drooling" would later be "Sheep" and far more psychadelic than the album version complete with screams from Roger ala "Careful with That Axe". "You've Gotta Be Crazy" would later become "Dogs" and once again very different in spots from the album version.
The crowd is quite unexpectedly treated to a performance of "Echoes" much to their shock and delight.

"The set opened with Woodhenge going into a medley starting with Incantations part 3 opening, faithful version of Tubular Bells, and Crises (the enormous tower lighting up, the laser flashing all over the arena from the top and the HUGE moon rising over the tower during the drum build up to the climax!) in second half, Mount Teide, Moonlight Shadow and Shadow on the Wall. Footage was shot but was not deemed good enough for commercial release. There were four gigantic speaker towers in each corner. One reviewer, Mark Steels, said, "As a spectacle .. only marginally more exciting than watching a bus queue .. but this quite anonymous performer let the music do the talking for him instilling .. impressive freshness."

Pink Floyd: Azimuth Coordinator Discs 3&4 (Montreal 1977-07-06) shn

Montreal 77 is another winner! I don't care what anyone in the band says, this is a great show! It's worth it just to hear Roger yell "For f#ck's sake!!!!" in the middle of Pigs On The Wing pt.2, but then on top of it, the band really tears it up and plays a fantastic show. Particular highlights include Pigs (3 Different Ones) and Shine On pt.9 (love the guitar and piano candenza at the end before the rest of the band rejoins).
Re: Drift Away Blues Some say the song wasn't played at this gig but there is another possibility: The story that circulates is that Dave didn't want to come back onstage, so Snowy White was left as the solo guitarist onstage for this blues jam. On Drift Away Blues, the guitarist is definitely playing a Strat, you can hear it not only in the guitar tone, but also in the use of the tremelo arm (good Les Pauls don't have trem arms, and neither do the Carvin or Yamaha guitars I've seen Snowy playing). I do have a possible theory: Maybe, Snowy, not wanting people to realize that he wasn't Dave, strapped on one of Dave's Strats, and tried to play in a fashion that would sound like Dave, and that's what we are hearing here. Now, we know that the Montreal show had a lot to do with inspiring certain things that came to fruition in The Wall, so maybe this is one of them. Anyway, it's a great jam, regardless of what show or when it came from.

Another source of the famous concert where Roger just lost it and even spit at the audience. He later said that this concert was the beginning of a sense of disconnect with the audience around him that later led to the inspiration to the theme found throughout in "The Wall".

This tape is complete and with only one minor cut--a very brief tape flip at 44:03 into the second set, which indicates the taper was using a 90 minute cassette. As usual, FRP strives to bring you the best possible sound without destroying the archival value of the source tape by attempting a heavy remastering job.
The audience claps after the 3rd verse during 'Pigs (3DO)' and Roger did not squeal a number. The audience is generally very quiet and respectful, which is a refreshing change from the standard audience recording of this tour. Not a single firework to be heard! David performs an incredible jam during 'SOYCD (Pts. 6-9)'. This is truly a recording of a band playing at its peak.
What strikes me the most is the amazing clarity of the recording and the polite and
obviously captivated audience. They are like a Japanese audience--quiet when they should be and clapping/cheering where appropriate. Hard to believe they are French (just kidding). The performance is rather uninspired but certainly an excellent and competent one. A bit mechanical, maybe. Does David mess up the words in one of the songs?
