Taper's Comments: Lisner Auditorium, on the campus of George Washington University, is a 1500 seat venue, rather shaped like a fan. At the very back you at least get the illusion that it might be wider than it is deep. There are only 35 rows of seating. It is still an active venue today.
This was my second effort ever at recording a show. The show was sold out, and I barely got in, sitting in the very last row off to the left in Row UU Seat 9. It was a very warm day for April, and the venue was hotter than hell. It was likely lucky that I sat in the last row, as if I'd been closer, the recording would have been total mush. The volume levels were unreal, and only got louder when headliners RUSH took the stage. Hey, I like it loud, but next time check in with THIN LIZZY's sound crew who know how to kick your ass without making your ears bleed.
I thought MAX WEBSTER were a lot of fun, and they went down real well at this show, especially for an unknown band. They were pretty big in Canada, and Kim Mitchell later would be even more successful as a solo artist. Enjoy!

Notes: Celebrating 30 years of rock in Toronto, Classic Rock Q107 is proud to announce Kim Mitchell & Friends: A 30th Anniversary Concert and Live Radio Special, on Thursday, May 24 at 8 p.m. at The Docks Entertainment Complex in Toronto. The 30th anniversary concert will feature a live performance with afternoon drive host Kim Mitchell and former band Max Webster, as well as a musical line-up of Canadian bands to celebrate Q107’s 30th birthday.
After 10 years, Max Webster will reunite on stage for a headlining performance at the Q107 30th Anniversary Concert and Live Radio Special. “A Q107 30th anniversary party without Max Webster would be like magic mushrooms without a copy of Electric Ladyland,“ said Kim Mitchell, Q107. “This party is just not going to happen without us, we’re in big time. Okay, anyone know the chords to “A Million Vacations?”
A “Win To Get In” event, Kim Mitchell & Friends will feature live performances by David Wilcox, Honeymoon Suite, Alannah Myles and Goddo, as well as a few surprise guests. Tickets to this concert will be given away on air and online at q107.com. Q107 will also broadcast the entire concert live on the radio for those unable to attend.
