OU Comments: I traded for this on cassette in the early 2000's. The guy I got this cassette from lived in Spain, and was at this concert. This is an FM broadcast, which includes an FM Spanish radio announcer talking before and after the first 4 tracks. 'Ordinary World' was actually played twice, so that is no mistake. A couple of the first 4 tracks have some kind of FM related distortion. There's no way to clean this up.

Lineage: Cassette obtained in trade years ago, transferred to .wav via CD-EX via line in from my Sony walkman. WAV converted to FLAC level 6

OU Comments: In my opinion, Simon seems to be somewhat down in the dumps, not his normal energetic self here, but regardless, this is a fantastic recording focusing mostly on the 'Medazzaland' album, with a few hits sprinkled into the setlist. There are 4 additional bouns tracks which were recorded at Privacy Studios in London, but I've opted not to include them here as I'm not sure that they were ever commercially released. I don't believe they were, but better safe than sorry.

A good recording (even if I do say so myself) - couple of stupid girls behind me shouting that they found Simon Le Bon "hot" but other than that a nice calm audience
no clipping (except the clapping at certain points - but I kept the levels nice and high to capture the sound better.

Duran Duran: Brighton 1983 (FM) FLAC

OU: Some say this is a soundboard or FM recording but I actually think it is just an excellent audience recording. The audience are too “up front” in the mix and there is too much chatter for it to be a proper FM show. You can hear someone announce the band and venue at the end of track four but I think this was probably the taper himself doing this, at least it does not sound like a professional station ident. If this was broadcast on a Brighton station then I am going to say it was probably a community radio station such as a hospital or college since the overall mix does not seem very professional. Regardless this sounds better than your average audience recording and this is in my opinion the best recording of the European leg of the Sing Blue Silver Tour.

Hello, I'm in the process of transferring my concert cdrs to .flac for easier storage, and I'll be sharing some random shows as I progress. I have many artists to share, but I will be sharing mostly Depeche Mode, Duran Duran,and the Cure.

The site also mentions that the setlist changed for the duration of the tour AFTER this show., and I quote: "Notes: This is a good soundboard recording of the second of two concerts in Brighton, UK. A must-to-own show: the performance is very good, and the tracklist is different from the usual one: "New Religion" and "The Chauffeur" are missing; "My Own Way" and "Of Crime And Passion" are performed in the same places that they had during the australian tour; this is the last show that presents this kind of setlist: from December 18th, the first of five Wembley shows, the guys performed the songs in the same order than the setlists of the USA 84 tour (where the most known bootlegs of that era - Oakland and Madison Square Garden - were recorded)."
However, near the end of track 4, on disc two, you hear an announcer say "Duran Duran, Live at the Brighton Centre", which makes me think this was recorded for FM radio.
I think that the analog cassette generation must've been somewhat high. It's not a perfect "10" for ratings, but I'd give it a "7 or 8".
Tau Analyzer test revealed no lossy (i.e. .mp3) lineage.

Sound: Excellent soundboard.
Comments: A quintessential early Duran Duran show. What an amazing recording. This captures a young and hungry DD out to conquer the american public. The audio quality is awesome, but there is a slight layer of hiss over the top of the recording. Also, one channel of the audio is slightly louder than the other. I did my best to even everything out, but couldn't get it perfect. Still, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with the content of this cd. After you hear it you'll know why it's one of the most sought after early Duran Duran bootlegs.

Duran Duran: Live from Central Park 1982 (AM Radio) FLAC

AM radio broadcast circa 1982
OU Notes: For two awful years, I lived in Whitefish, Ontario, just outside of Sudbury. You could walk the length of the town in 30 minutes. My father, for some reason, had decided he should buy the only variety store in town and move the whole family up north. Never mind that the new highway now bypassed us, so tourist traffic was now light, and that the local nickel mine that was the main employer was on a year long strike. We lasted 2 years, went bankrupt, and came back home to southern Ontario.
Needless to say, the music scene up there was abysmal. There was no FM rock station, even. Sometimes the CBC would play a decent show late at night, but I usually had to make due with CHNO AM, which was the usual drivel that all AM stations are. One night, though, they played this, which for them would have been cutting edge. It's obviously some kind of network feed, with a vacuous announcer ("now here's more rock and roll from Duran Duran!"), and it's AM, which means it's mono.

Audio Quality: EXCELLENT SOUNDBOARD (sb10)
Notes: This is the final show of the "Greatest And Latest", and the best bootleg of that tour. The audio quality is an excellent soundboard, and the tracklist is nearly complete (just "Is there Something I Should Know?" and "Virginia Plains" are missing). The show was aired in a Japanese TV, so the video version is also available. All the greatest hits of their history are here, and the performance is very good. My favourite songs are "Friends Of Mine", "Careless Memories", "Secret Oktober" and "All She Wants Is". Simon sings all the hits with energy and passion. The songs are performed in their original "album" or "single" version and no different arrangements are here, included "Secret Oktober" which is performed in its slow version. During "Rio", Simon introduces a special guest: ANDY HAMILTON playing the sax solo! Even if you are not a collector, you should have this cd: this is the definitive Duran Duran "Greatest Hits" in an excellent LIVE version.

Excellent sound. Excellent show. Excellent energy!!
One of my favorite cd's here. DURAN DURAN played this wonderful show at Wembley in December 1998. Wish I was there. There are a couple of guest apperances by Tessa Niles (female vocals on COME UNDONE) & Andy Hamilton (saxaphone on RIO, toured with DD from 81-87). "FRIENDS OF MINE", "CARELESS MEMORIES" & "ALL SHE WANTS IS" kick serious butt here. If you don't have this show you must get it now!
