Back Cover Text
Harking back to an earlier incarnation of Wings, "Got Any Toothpicks?" is a collection of soundboard recordings from Wings' 1972 Summer Tour Of Europe.
This special 26th anniversary edition has been remastered from newly discovered sources, surpassing all previously available versions of this material.
Liner Notes
"Wings Over Europe" hit the road in early July 1972, playing twenty-plus shows by the time the tour wrapped up at the end of August. The set list consisted of a mix of previously released McCartney/Wings tunes as well as providing a showcase for new material. This collection of highlights from the first "official" tour, opens with a portion of Wings' show at the Cine Roma in Antwerp, Belgium on August 22, 1972. The tape picks up with the last number of the first set, 'Best Friend'. It was this performance that has served as the basic track for all the different versions prepared for the never issued 'Cold Cuts' collection. The majority of the second set is also included with an added bonus. For the only time on the tour, Paul and Co. performed the Leadbelly standard 'Cottonfields', a huge European hit for the Beach Boys in 1970.
'Hi, Hi, Hi' and 'Wild Life' both come from the soundtrack of the uncompleted MPL film project, The Bruce McMouse Show. These performances were captured at the Congresgebouw in The Hague on August 21, 1972. Also originating from this concert is Wings' performance of '1882', an unreleased track originally slated to be included on 'Red Rose Speedway'. The version appearing here consists of the live recording after being subjected to additional studio overdubs, most noticeably additional vocals from Paul. On a side note, the commercially released live recording of 'The Mess' was also recorded at this performance.
As Wings was a "real band" opposed to just being Paul's backing group, each member was afforded a solo spot during the show.
'Henry's Blue', a lengthy, droning 12-bar, complete with unintelligible lyrics served as lead guitarist Henry McCullough's contribution. The second version on this collection comes from Wings' appearance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on August 20, 1972.
Also recorded this day was an interview for the Dutch radio program, 'Popsmuk'. To close the broadcast, Paul, Linda and Denny Laine huddled around Henry at the piano and offered an improvised performance entitled "Complain To The Queen".
As previously noted, these recordings represent Paul in a rare democratic 'group' setting, certainly the only time this situation has existed outside of the Beatles. Not surprisingly, this period was also Wings' least successful in a commercial sense, forcing Paul to the fore on the 'Red Rose Speedway' LP, evidenced by the
'Paul McCartney and Wings' moniker on the cover. This disc contains several of the surviving documents of that era.

Geetarz Comments: A hot, hot soundboard. Watch the levels on this one! It kicks right in with an aggressive performance of 'Matchbox' that is more 'rock' then 'rockabilly'. Also features a nice performance of "Magical Mystery Tour", with very nice piano work. 'Live and Let Die' is very well done, but the mix is unaccountably muddy as the other songs are very clear.
The cover art denotes that this was a soundcheck performance, applause was added in later, either by bootleggers or production staff.

Paul McCartney: Back To The Eggs Early Takes and Interview 1978 (FLAC)

mpl-1-a-front
Mega-rare restored vinyl "Scrambled Egg" Speed corrected and rejoined!

OU: According to BootlegZone, these as-yet unidentified tracks are early versions of "Back To The Egg". I picked this super-rare 7" vinyl in a record store in Milan, Italy in 1989. Unidentified means that exact dates and sessions are unknown, but some tracks are listed as being recorded in July and September 1978. It's a great, humorous set with a fine interview bookmarking the tracks. This EP ran almost a third of a semitone too fast. That's also been corrected.

Setlist (Run time 17m 52s):
Intro Interview (unknown date and interviewer)
Old Siam, Sir (July 1978)
Arrow Through Me (July 1978)
Winter Rose (unknown)
Love Awake (September 1978)
Hoe Down (unknown)
Outro Interview (unknown date and interviewer)

Lineage: MPL001 LP -> sound Forge ->-34.8 cents speed correction ->Track split up ->FLAC via TLH, level 6, sectors aligned and verified, FLAC integrity checked.

Paul McCartney: Raleigh 1990 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

Paul_McCartney_&_Bono_Live8
Carter Finley Stadium
Raleigh, NC
1990-July 22

RECORDER: KYLIEMINOGUE
OU's STORY: He has recorded hundreds of shows. He occassionally trades them over the years, and some have surfaced onto the Dime uploads. Upon an invite, I went and met him personally. I had a chance to look at his shows. Needless to say, this was nowhere near an exaggeration.
I offered to borrow these shows and convert them from analog to digital to preserve, protect, and store these shows. He has trusted me with these cassettes, and permit me to post these as uploads for all to hear. The shows come from personal recordings, FM broadcasts, and traded shows.
May I present to you another recording from kylieminogue in digital format:

Lineage:
Analog transfer:
Original Recorded Cassette (REALISTIC 90 minutes)
Onkyo TA-RW255 Dual Stereo Cassette Tape Deck
Playback at normal speed and Dolby NR at setting "B"
Stereo Out Coaxial Cable merged into 1/8" breakout cable female adapter (3 Pin XLR for Preamp)

Digital Conversion:

Paul performs this night with a bad finger he cut the day before slicing pizza. Also included are pictures taken from the show and a scan of the taper's ticket stub.

Paul McCartney: Rude Studio Demos 1989 (Studio) FLAC

front
Remastered Edition
Pitch and phase corrected at Remasters Workshop June 2009 from the original 1989 disc on Columbus CD 080 (1989).
There has always been a problem with the material on this CD. It was always very, very out-of-phase due to poor tape transfer. The azimuth was terribly out of alignment, so all the tracks are impaired by wandering phase. This Columbus CD is thought to be the source of these demos. Wherever they are compiled on another CD, it is always from this source, so all instances of these tracks on CD are horribly out-of-phase.
Only recently has the technology become available at the consumer level to restore a recording as closely as possible to its original phase. This feature of Adobe Audition 3 is able to retro-correct the azimuth alignment on as many generations of tape deck as there are in the recording lineage. The result is as close as it is possible to be as though you were playing the tape on the deck that recorded it. The soundstage is returned to its intended space, and all traces of phase cancellations are gone. These recordings are now fully compatible with mono; if you were to combine the channels, there would be no phase cancellations - it would just collapse the stereo image. Previously, doing this would have created nasty cancellations. On many of the tracks, before correction, you could already hear the swishing and swirling of wandering phase. That artifact has now been eliminated.
These demos have benefitted greatly from phase correction. They sound absolutely normal now, and have been sped up or slowed down to match A=440 Hz. No further alterations were made. None were required. If the original transfer had been properly aligned and speed corrected, it would have sounded just like this.
Of these recordings, Chip Madinger & Mark Easter say: "...With the (apparent) help of Denny Laine on some of the songs, (Paul) laid down several demos for a projected new LP project that would reunite him with George Martin. An August 1980 compilation of demos was prepared for George consisting of old and new material for consideration...While some of the songs ("Take It Away," "Ballroom Dancing") were particularly strong, some of the tunes Paul submitted ("The Unbelievable Experience," "Boil Crisis") were bad enough to force George to tell Paul to scrap them and write more; this he did...In 1987, an excellent quality tape of some of this material was released on bootleg as "Rude Studio Demos" (a CD version was issued in 1989 from the same tape)."
Artwork is included.
Enjoy!

Paul McCartney: Saturday Night Live Rehearsals 1993 (Soundboard) FLAC

true-snl-rehearsals
Lineage - video tape > DAT > CD-ROM > Audition 3 (level correction) > CD Wave (track splits) > FLAC > you
ou notes:
I received these recordings on data CDs in a trade in 1999. According to Chip Madinger and Mark Easter, there are 85 minutes of mono rehearsal audio from February 11, 1993. On the Yellow Cat disc "Saturday Night Live Rehearsals 1993" (YC 006), they've edited that down to 69:25. This source has 77:43. The other seven minutes are probably still on the videotape. In addition, this disc purports to contain the three tracks from the SNL dress rehearsal of February 13, which Madinger/Easter say are unbootlegged. The last five tracks are stereo. The book says there were three songs performed at dress rehearsal, "Get Out Of My Way," "Biker Like An Icon" and "Hey Jude." I don't have VHS of the show to compare, nor "Big Mac's Live Tracks" (Orange 1), which has the live performances from the airdate, so I can't say for certain which these are. There *is* an extra performance of "Hey Jude." So at least *some* of this is from the dress rehearsal.
The only alterations I made to these recordings were to match the levels, and split the tracks on sector boundaries.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
And now…a true legend, Sir Paul McCartney! I was never really into The Beatles but you know what, what an amazing performance. Just after 10pm, he takes the stage, and I felt very privileged to be there. The stage was awesome with a cool screen in the back and the sides with humongous portrait screens; did I mention they were huge? Wow. As soon as they started with “Jet” I knew this would be the best performance of the weekend. The sound was so perfect, hats off to the sound guys. I actually recognized a lot of the songs. It was an emotional night for Paul, that night marked the 11th anniversary of Linda’s passing. I will have to say, that was probably my favorite song of the night. Oh and the drummer was amazing! He rocked!

John Lennon and Paul McCartney : A Toot and a Snore in '74

604112058_0fd654c54e_b
This is a bizarre fragment of what must have been a raucous evening at the studio. Lots of talk, John bitching about everything, Paul on Drums. They almost play a song or two. Not for any but the fanatic out there. Fun in a Get Back Sessions sort of a way.
John Lennon & Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Harry Nilsson, Jesse Ed Davis, Bobby Keys, Mal Evans, May Pang.

Credits:
John Lennon-vocals, guitar; Paul McCartney-vocals, drums; Jesse Ed Davis-guitar; Harry Nilsson-vocals; Stevie Wonder-electric piano; Bobby Keys-sax; Malcolm Evans-tea; May Pang-sympathy

These are from the CD liner notes; there are other texts that indicate Linda McCartney played organ, and May Pang on tambourine. Track 5 is a variation on "Sleepwalk" and Track 9 also includes fragments of "Chain Gang".

Recorded whilst Lennon was producing Harry Nilsson's Pussy Cats album. Burbank Studios, Los Angeles - March 28, 1974. Not, perhaps, as productive as some certain sessions from the previous decade...

As I understand:
This is one of Paul's recordings to be used for a live album, but when it went missing (stolen) another show had to be used. Seattle Kingdome on June 10, 1976. I am sure many of the shows towards the end of the tour were recorded for the purpose of a live album as the band was in its best form and was very comfortable with the material and VERY relaxed with performing it. This show was the last of three nights starting on the 21st of June 1976.
The official Rockshow was recorded at the Seattle Kingdome in the vicinity of June 10, 1976.
