Led Zeppelin: The Image Club 1969 (Aud) FLAC

zd_2-14-69_f
Miami, Florida
Feb. 14, 1969
Lineage-Master>DAT>CDR
Both sets are from the same taper. Each recording is good and clear. The volume is consistent without any noticeable tape hiss. The sound quality of the recording is a bit dated though. The recording of the first set ends during How Many More Times' bow section. Both performances are not wild ones & the audiences do not sound too present. But both shows are still good.

Song List:
Train Kept A Rollin
I Can't Quit You Baby
Dazed and Confused
Killing Floor
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
How Many More Times (cut)

White Summer/Black Mountain Side
As Long As I Have You
You Shook Me
Pat's Delight

notes: This is the second night of a six show stint at Earl's Court. This comes from the master tapes and sounds great to my ears... nice, clear, and crispy. There have been some small fades applied in a couple places that must have happened somewhere down the lineage, not by myself.
From what I can gather this particular recorder has not been spread commonly, only amongst traders. There should be another recorder around under the Wall Weeds label (WWRM), that one sounds quite nice as well but has no lineage. I think this is an upgrade in sound to that version but if your a completist freak like myself you need both!
Please notice that I have this listed as Recorder 1 in the source/lineage, this is because this was the first RoIO I received for this date. You may have the WWRM or another version listed as Recorder 1, in that case make this Recorder 2.

Comments: We were sitting in the 1st row of the upper section stage right side at
about 10:30 O'Clock,(stage is at 12). We got blasted from the stage right speaker stack, which is probably why this recording came out real well considering the equipment I had at this time. (This was my last recording with this equipment). We had a group of 6 at this fun show, and the crowd around us was pretty well behaved. Nice show by Neil and the boys, mixed in some of the "new" material with plenty of the "classics".

Recorder's Notes: This recording has never been traded and is uncirculated.

04-Dancin' Fool
05-Eye
06-Straighten Out
07-Long Gone

This is a stellar Guess Who show in great sound featuring
Burton Cummings - keyboards/vocals
Garry Peterson - drums
Bill Wallace - bass/vocals
Domenic Troiano - guitar/vocals - Formerly with Mandela, Bush, and The James Gang.
Taken from an FM feed. The band were trying to re-invent themselves at this time so the band played most of the cuts from their Flavours LP. Cummings, bolstered by the guitar playing of Domenic Troiano is in exceptional voice...something that was common in GW shows from this era. Enjoy this memorable music out of the wheatfields of Canada.

Recording Info:

Notes from Tom & Jerry
A few minutes before the show started, we had a few minutes to talk with the sound crew. We asked them if they would record an Osaka show. They said No but some of them said jokingly that they might release the official bootleg. We had a good laugh about this because a few years ago, Voiceprint, trademark of official quality officially released several live CDs which were made from commercial bootleg CDs. I am not sure if Voiceprint or low budget CD labels use this recording. But unless they use this or other audience recordings, an Osaka show will never be available.

Enjoy!

I will have to reup this as the rs links have been deleted and several of the megauploads have found their way into cyber-limbo.
If you have download many (but not all) don't despair.
I will reup this as individual packets so that you will only have to download what you are missing.
This will be a big project that I will run in the background of my normal posting so please give me until late October.
Sorry that it had to be this way. I hate deleted links too.

Steely Dan: Metal Leg 1974 (Tooleman Reworked and Remastered version) FLAC

SD%20metal%20leg%20TooleManFRONT
Capricorn Records (CR2045)
Remastered/retracked by TheTooleMan
August 2008
SBD > boot > ? > SHN > TTD > TheTooleMan (Sound Forge) > FLAC
The recording was running too fast and the sound was equalized so that dogs would find it irritating.
This version has the pitch corrected (-35 cents, approximately) and has been equalized to reduce ultra-high frequencies while giving the bass a lot more punch.
In addition to the changes above, I have moved the last two tracks of the bootleg to what I believe is their proper position in the Steely Dan set lists of 1974. "Bodhisattva" usually started their shows, and was followed by "The Boston Rag," then "Do It Again." On the "Metal Leg" recordings, there is a fade out/fade in between track 12, "My Old School" and track 13, "Bodhisattva," which indicates some changes from the original sequence. Some applause and other stage announcements have been removed, which would have helped with placing the venues, performance dates, and song sequence, but that's all we got to work with, folks!
For what it's worth, I do believe the tracks of the two alleged shows do belong together. There were some differences in the recording quality between the recordings labeled "March 9, 1974" and "March 10, 1974." The March 10 set had much more high frequency information. Each of the two sets were re-equalized differently in this version.

Geetarz Comments: (http://geetarz.org/reviews/clapton/nudity.htm)
Hard to assign a sound rating here - most of the tracks sound as though they were recorded with a microphone in the studio, or perhaps in the playback booth, so while not truly a soundboard, they are better than an "audience" rating would indicate, with just a touch of room echo. Of interest here are the different released versions of "Layla", it's quite interesting to compare them. Another excellent Mid Valley release.

Talking Heads: Amsterdam 1977 (FM) FLAC

Talking_Heads_Amsterdam_fr
Amsterdam Paradiso / 1977 (some debate as to whther this is actually 1978)
Label: N/A
Audio Source:radio broadcast
Lineage: for example: FM-->tape-->tape --> WAV --> CDR --> EAC --> Foobar --> FLAC 5 --> MWP.
Number of Discs: 1
Artwork: yes
Total running time: 35m 26s
Notes: This came to me about 20 years ago, a low-gen tape of an early Heads broadcast. The levels and sound hiccup a touch during the first minute or two,
but then settle down to a reasonable quality. The broadcast is short but sweet, with the band showing how tight they were, and how good Byrne was on guitar.
I've always thought of this as a nice, tight set of early stuff, and a broadcast, too. Worth a listen if you enjoy pre 'Remain in light' heads.

Tracklisting:

The Pretenders: Paris Theatre 1979 (BBC) FLAC

Title: Talk Of The Town
Lineage: Talk Of The Town vinyl ROIO > transfer ? > wav / manual split (audacity 1.0.0) > flac 1.1.0 > decode (TLH) > WAV >
SBE check (TLH showed errors on all tracks) > TLH shntool SBE fix > SBE-free WAV (removed "fix" suffix from SBE-free WAV files, renamed files) > re-encoded to FLAC (TLH, level 8)

Setlist
01. The Wait
02. Stop Your Sobbing
03. Cuban Slide
04. Brass In Pocket
05. Mystery Achievement

Notes: This soundboard recording was made for the BBC Radio 1 programme. The vinyl boot (from Denmark) also contains some released rare tracks. B-sides are not included here.
The performance is incredible - to the point that I find it difficult to listen to the album. Crank it up.

**Information from http://www.pretendersarchives.com/discography/Bootlegs-Vinyl.html**

Talk Of The Town (Not Real Records 006 - Denmark)
The Wait / Stop Your Sobbing / Kid / Cuban Slide / Brass In Pocket / Mystery Achievement / The Wait / Talk Of The Town / Cuban Slide / Swinging London (instr.) / Nervous But Shy (instr.)
Released in 1980 and taken from the same show as The Wait (see above). Talk Of The Town includes these extras: The Wait (the version produced by Nick Lowe [the UK Sobbing b-side]), Talk Of The Town (UK version), Cuban Slide (the flip of Talk Of The Town - UK release), Swinging London, and Nervous But Shy (both the instrumental b-sides of the UK release of Brass In Pocket). This album claims to be a promo and goes on to list the label as "Not Real Records" (at the time, the Pretenders' UK label was Real Records). Its one quirk is the uncredited inclusion of The Castaways' "Liar, Liar" as the last track. Very odd... great, but odd.

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon Studio Rehearsal 1972 (FLAC)

This was first posted on the Dr. Forrester's 'Just Add cones' blog, and it's an amazing surfacing, this is a live rehearsal of the Early Eclipse suite (except for Money which is the common acoustic demo). The very primitive version of Time says it has to be prior to its first performance. But it's just my guess. Maybe more accurate info will come out now it's out there.

Recording Notes:
All three sets are sourced directly from the master, including the elusive RHCP set which seems like it has never circulated very much, if at all. Edited to even out some volume adjustments the taper did at the beginning of the PJ and Nirvana sets, smoothed out where the taper paused after "Dumb" and "Me and My Friends", and removed a few pops. There is also an unfixable small cut @ 9:28 of disc 3, track 6.
The total time of the first disc is 80:33. Almost all modern cd burners can overburn to a little over 82 minutes using capable burning software. Check out the net for specifics on what your particular burner can handle, or you can of course separate the two sets onto two discs if you have any problems.
This release should not be confused with SV023, called "JAM LIKE HELL". Basically the differences between that earlier release and this one is SV023 does not include the RHCP set, and there are more cdr extractions in the source lineage.

Show Notes (thanks to Five Horizons):
New Year's Eve and three great bands! Ed comments, "If I wasn't in this band, I would still make sure I was here tonight." Ed sings part of Fugazi's 'Waiting Room' as an intro to 'Even Flow.' A driven performance, with a particularly intense version of 'Alive.' Flea of RHCP assists with vocals during 'Leash.' The 'Teen Spirit' teaser (actually the longest teaser I've heard) is followed by Stone's quip, "Just remember, we played it first." Ed performs one of his finest stage dives, repeating it later during the 'Yurtle the Turtle' encore with the Chili
Peppers.
