Soft Machine: New York 1971 (VG Aud) FLAC

by request
SoftMachine-Drop-002
Soft Machine 1971-07-07 Cafe Au-Go-Go (The Gaslight) NYC

OU: This another live recording of the Soft Machine, one of the very last gigs with Robert Wyatt. I've downloaded it some years ago. I retracked the whole recording which was completely wrong... Other than that and converting to flac, I did nothing. It's an audience recording.

01 - Neo Caliban Grides
02 - Out Bloody Rageous
03 - (improvisation loosly based on Hope For Happiness)
04 - Eamonn Andrews - All White
05 - Teeth
06 - 10.15 Return to the bedroom

Mics and Recorder unknown> Cassette 1st generation > Playback Deck: Tascam 130 > Nikko 32 Band EQ > Akai DR16 Digital Hard Disk Recorder > HHB CDR-800 Compact Disc Recorder > CDR > WAV >CD Wave Editor > SHN >WAV>Audacity>Flac

Original notes: This CD-r release is from a cassette tape that I got in trade many years ago. I removed a couple of glitches and cleaned up the start and end. I also made a slight speed correction. I did the editing, mastering, digital transfer for this version of this show. Please keep the text file, unaltered, together with the SHN's. Don't rename directories or file names if you share this.
Don't alter the sound of this recording. The T releases are not to be used as a source for anyone's so called remastering projects. If you want to do something find a better source recording and work from that. Don't just take what I have done and screw with it. For Trade or Give Away only - Do not Sell - Do not encode as MP3 or any other format that degrades the quality of the music.

OU: Here presented last ever recording with Kevin Ayers. Unfortunately, all recordings from this concert was from audience recording. But...it's just f$ckin' great! Mike Ratledge's killer organ solos, Wyatt's crazy drum solos and mystic Ayers vocal. True psychedelia.
I know, many people (fans of the group) search for more concerts from this famous tour. Now his day! Last 15 minutes of "Hollywood Bowl" recorded and existed 40 years in private hands. Now this is here. This concert was last ever concert with Kevin Ayers and last ever 15 minutes of his playing with group.
Enjoy

Soft Machine: London 1967 (G+ Aud) shn

Mics and Recorder unknown> Cassette generation unknown> Playback Deck: Tascam 130 >
Nikko 32 Band EQ > Akai DR16 Digital Hard Disk Recorder > HHB CDR-800 Compact Disc Recorder > CDR > WAV >CD Wave Editor > SHN

OU: I removed all gaps which were a result of tape flip and change, and put broken songs back together. I also made a slight speed correction.
The recording of this show is hardly ever seen on tape trading lists. And traders usually have only the first set if they do happen to have it. I found one trader in England who had both sets and that's where I got it. The first set is better quality so that may be the reason the second set is hard to find. It's not an audience recording. The audience can be heard between songs but very faint and distant. I believe the recording was made on a reel-to-reel recorder from the stage. I doubt that they used a soundboard.
Daevid Allen had left the band shortly before, so they played as a trio. It's also the first show with a new roadie, Hugh Hopper.
Pretty rough quality, but a very historic recording!

Soft Machine: Dada Insanity Vols I and II

soft-machine
Dada Insanity Vol.1 - Allen Era (1964-67)
Now and here i’m present the most complete audio chronology of all Soft Machine early recordings from 1966 to 1969 in 6 Volumes (69 year i present incomplete). But! There’s a maybe full collection of Ayers and Allen era. Most of tracks released officially on compilation “Turns On Vol.1” – i used alternate and BEST sources for this tracks, because this compilation is old and looks like a crap.
Also: 1967 "Middle Earth" Bootleg i remove from my compilation. It's not the same "Middle Earth Masters" CD, it's complete another source for the 2 (!) full sets. Sadly, quality of this is VG-

Now is the first part:
1. Captain Shaw & Dr. Gilbert (Daevid Allen, 1964)
2. Home Recordings (Unknown, probably recorded between 1962-66) #
3. Contusions (Mister Head, Demo rec. Circa Summer 1966)
4. Another Lover Has Gone (Mister Head, Demo rec. Circa Summer 1966)
5. Fred The Fish (Dec. 66 or Jan. 67, aborted a-side)
6. Love Makes Sweet Music (Jan/Feb.67, rough mix)
7. Feelin’ Reelin’ Squeelin’ (Jan/Feb.67, rough mix)
8. Love Makes Sweet Music (from radio airing, feb.67)
9. Radio Interview (Prob. Febr-march 67) #
10. Love Makes Sweet Music (from Radio Caroline, aired on feb.67) #
11. Studio Jam # 1(unknown group, unknown session prob. Feat. SM members, possibly fake, early 67)
12. Studio Jam # 2 (probably feat. Jimi Hendrix, possibly fake, March-April 67)
13. I Should’ve Known – Rehearsal – I Should’ve Known (from Italian TV, rec. In Spekeasy and at home, May-June 1967)
14. Poem For Hoppy (UFO Club, 2 June 1967)
15. She’s Gone # 1 (June 1967, Aborted A-side of the single)
16. I Should’ve Known (June 1967, Aborted B-side of the single)
17. She’s Gone # 2 (June 1967, Aborted A-side with different lyrics)
18. We Know What You Mean (Holland TV, rec. 22-09-1967)
19. I Should’ve Known (Holland TV, rec.22-09-1967)
20. Medley: Clarence In Wonderland – We Did It Again – We Know What You Mean (French TV, 3-10-1967) #
21. Hope For Happiness (French TV, 9-10-1967)
22. Improvisation (French TV, 9-10-1967)
23. Clarence In Wonderland – We Know What You Mean (Live At Palais Des Sports, 17-18.11.1967, French TV) #

Soft Machine - Sweet Music - Live An Rare 1966-1969

3 CD set containing rare Soft Machine material right from the very beginning to the "Third" period. Includes rare singles, demos, outtakes, related material by ex band members and very rare live material.

The studio stuff all sounds pretty much perfect. The 1969 live stuff is in very good / excellent quality, while the 1967/1968 live stuff probably only merits a "fair" sound rating but is worth hearing simply because it is so incredibly rare (particularly the complete performance from the Merriweather Post Pavilion in August 1968 which was on the tour when they were support for the Jimi Hendrix Experience). The collaboration between Wyatt and Hendrix, "Slow Walkin' Talk", is also a highlight, partly because it's a great song and partly because it's interesting to hear Hendrix play bass. Also features a brilliant 20 minute demo of "Moon In June" and all known live recordings of the short-lived septet line up which collapsed because of the logistical problems involved in getting so many people and their instruments around in a panel van. :-)

Highly recommended to anyone who is a fan of early Soft Machine, particularly the "Jet Propelled Photographs" collection and the "Soft Machine", "Volume 2" and "Third" albums.

Soft Machine: Netherlands 1971 (Soundboard Master Reel) FLAC

You may recall that Pink Floyd did a benefit for Robert Wyatt, a member of Soft Machine, back in 1973.

This release is sourced from a reel-to-reel tape recorded at 7 1/2 ips that I got in trade in about 1977 from a fellow trader / taper in The Netherlands. It's a soundboard recording.

I cleaned up a couple of bad edits, put a song back together where it was split between sides and made a slight speed correction.

Pink Floyd: Live for a Friend (The Robert Wyatt Benefit Concert) London 1973 FLAC
Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com
Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com
Historical note: first time since years and last time ever PF performed the same night with their friends of Soft Machine (apart from Nick Mason who occasionally drumed for Wyatt in solo and Wyatt singing on Mason's Fictitious Sports). This is the second show (9pm) of that evening. The title comes of course from the fact this was a concert in benefit for former Soft Machine frontman Robert Wyatt who had broke his spine recently (he fell from a 3rd floor window during a party). Very last concert of that 1973 year for PF, before their 74 French tour. Last time a tune from the soundtrack of La Vallée was played. OBC here runs veeeeery slow, but it is not the tape, they played it like that! Really worth to get for OBC/When you're in, since those are the best versions in terms of SQ and probably performance too.

Released on label Ganja, #14, the SQ is EX-. Lineage: AUD[LOW]>SILVER CD>CDR
