Average Reader Rating: 98% - Nirvana Bootography Review:
This is a bootleg classic, if there is such a thing. This is an FM broadcast quality recording. The band isn't very energetic, and the performance suffers (especially when compared to shows played a week earlier in France). The KTS version has a 6 panel fold-out cover, including two panels of their own catalog.
The extent of Kurt's interaction with the audience is a simple "Gracias" before "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Krist tries to bring up the sprits and leaves the crowd with many memorable quotes. Sad to say only two full shows and one TV apprentice were all that was left in the band's future.
Here are the liner notes by Professor Stone (bad grammer and all) which pretty much says it all...
Well what can you say? So far 1994 has been pretty rough for Nirvana. A near fatal accident in Rome has brought out the vultures hungry for a corpse. Well tough luck suckers, our boy Kurt is still with us and with only a few weeks off to recover, its back on the road to continue the "In Utero" European tour. None of this "Eddie's got a headache, cancel all engagements for the rest of the year", Kurt nearly dies, but within weeks he's vowed to be back on the boards.
It is going to take a lot more than this to knock down Nirvana's wall. Regardless of the relentless media attack Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love and Nirvana are here to stay, like it or not. The "In Utero" album delivered everything it promised and more, Kurt Cobain has proved himself as the first classic songwriter of the nineties if only you would look beneath the headlines.
What a performer chooses to do in the privacy of his own home, or hotel room, is down to him alone and nobody else. The sad thing is that the people who continually cut down Kurt for his choice of personal treatment always hail the Keith Richards of this world as heroes. Talk about double standards. At the end of the day it is the chords that count, not the chemicals. Nirvana make stunning music and have never failed to deliver the goods. It is time that people checked out Kurt's lyrics and then they might just begin to understand.
In a conversation in the Nirvana Collectors' forum, the sound quality of this disc was determined to be slightly less than that of "XXII II MCMXCIV". For this reason, "Roma" receives a grade of 99% while "XXII II MCMXCIV" gets 99% (one point subtraction). This is still arguably the best disc to pick up for 2-22-94 since the artwork is exceptional.

Live Nirvana Bootography Rating: A 96%
Live Nirvana Bootography Review: This disc is awesome! Complete Radio Sessions was released between Outcesticide I & II. It contains four Studio Sessions, part of 01/10/92, and my personal favorite - the "Lithium" from the Mtv Awards with the "Rape Me" tease intro!! The intro was removed after the first broadcast of the show.
Since this disc was released in 1994, there has been remastered versions to surface into traders circles. At the time, these were the best recordings available. It has become fairly difficult to find an "official" Blue Moon disc since there have been so many clones made by other labels. This is one of the few "Must Have" compilation discs on the market and should be added to every Outcesticide series.

Comment: This has some digital noise in a few songs from the DAT. DAT generation is most likely a DAT(3) or a DAT(4). This is a vast sound improvement from the existing many offerings out there. The biggest difference other than sound that's noteworthy is a complete "Even In His Youth."

Big thanks to Redwhite for this, a nice crystal clear pFm source of the boys in the start of "the year punk broke". Still able to play "SLTS" with enthusiasm, and a host of other favorites from Nevermind and Bleach.
The source was typical Pre-FM; thin, light and bright. So it got beefed quite a bit and maximized. Sounds big, raucous, the way I think they should sound.
Note: Just a reminder, I do these remasters for myself and I share because there's a bunch of good people around here who are interested in hearing them, plus it's a nice thing to do. Nothing more to it than that. If you don't like it, don't download it. Simple.

Complete pre-FM soundboard recording.
This is the "trading circle version", rated "10.0" by
http://www.livenirvana.com/audiophile/index.html.

THE AUDIOPHILE COMPLETISTS' GUIDE TO NIRVANA BOOTLEGS CDs: 02/01/92
There are two sets of commercial releases of this show: complete pre-FM soundboard sources and differently mixed, incomplete, post-FM soundboard recordings.
'Melbourne 1992' is a complete pre-FM soundboard recording. This disc is plagued with pressing/digital errors. The bootleg 'In A Land Far Far Away', also sourced from the complete pre-FM recording, is free of these errors. However, both discs should be avoided as they are sourced from the trading circle version. Audiophiles
are thus recommended to pick up the trading circle version, rather than bootleg versions of this complete pre-FM source.
The post-FM commercial releases, however, are valuable to the audiophile because they are differently mixed to the pre-FM version and the best sounding versions are
only available on bootleg releases. The best sounding commercial release of the post-FM source is 'Mindblower' (although it runs slow, plus 2nd pressings of this bootleg have one second gaps between some of the songs), but the show can also be found on other bootlegs in lower quality.
In order of best quality first after Mindblower, these bootlegs are: 'Territorial Possession' (cloned from the 1st pressing of 'Mindblower'), 'Put The Money Down' (runs at correct speed) and 'Saturday Night Sonic Attack' (correct speed, but thin sounding and distorted). All commercial releases of this source are incomplete. More complete post-FM versions (with additional radio banter) are available in trading circles, but bootleg releases sound better.
A special thanks to Tim Bucknall's extensive research into sources of this show.
