40 years after the last Pink Floyd studio session for the BBC, Harvested is proud to present this upgraded version of "BBC Archives 1967-1969".
This release required a lot of work and took more than 6 months to complete. The purpose was to present each track in the best possible quality. The process was long because it was performed on a track by track basis. For each song, we had to compare many different sources in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each version and then decide which one(s) to work on. The mastering work was done very carefully, trying to repair every flaw that could be corrected... and there were a lot (tape warble, crackles, drop-outs, incorrect speed, etc).
Instead of giving all the details for each single track (we want to avoid sterile debates about lineage and sources), we prefer the results to speak for itself. We think people should judge by their ears; listen to your sonically-preferred versions and compare them to the ones on this new Harvested release. We can confidently say that every track is - sonically speaking - an upgrade compared to the best previously circulating version, including the master transfer of the 25Jun68 session (which offered complete versions but from a damaged mastertape) and the recent Celestial Voices tracks from the 12May69 session.
We made the choice not to include the various DJ intros in order to focus on the music. There are some exceptions such as Reaction In G and Set The Controls from the 25Sep67 session, but for the remainder the DJ comments were considered too distracting and so we edited them out (e.g. the Tomorrow's World tracks). Also, it's important to note that all tracks are presented in true mono, the way they were mixed by the BBC (there's no "fake stereo" nor "sound expanding" effect).
This collection not only includes the sessions for BBC radio, but also studio sessions for BBC TV shows and documentaries making it more complete than the previous releases. The number of tracks is now 30; 14 are covering the 1967 sessions with Syd (on CD 1) and 16 are dedicated to the 1968-1969 era with David (on CD 2).
Cuesheets are included for those who like to burn CDRs with all the required text info.
Enjoy this 40th Anniversary Edition !

Notes: There are a total of 3 audience sources for this show. Source 1 is the most commonly used source by the labels. Many labels fill missing gaps using one of the alternate sources, this release does not.
Original notes:
Ripped with EAC in burst mode but error free. Trampled Underfoot fades out at 7:51-55 and cuts out 11 secs too soon, misses 2 dozen of secs of tape after the song. Moby Dick is cut at 14:23, disguised by fade out-in, missing 2 dozen of seconds. Disguised cut 12:39 into Stairway To Heaven. These are the only cuts I noticed, there might be more.

Pernod's notes:
Sound quality wise this is an upgrade to EVSD's Demand Unprecedented, EVSD's release is more complete by using source 2 but sounds dull in comparison. Tarantura obviously used a source close to or equal to the analogue Master tapes but decided to amplify the sound which, because the acoustics of the venue are boomy and echoey in itself, doesn't really benefit the overall sound at all, luckily they didn't compress it to death like some other recently released bootlegs and still allowed
it to breathe. Anyway, even with the amplification it doesn't come up with much background noise, evidence of the low gen Tapes they used.
I'm sure you will enjoy this even with the imperfections as mentioned above. I think it's the best show of the five Earl's Court shows they performed in 1975. Your lineage (I think he means "opinion") may vary.

Def Leppard, Saxon, Motorhead: Various Sources (Early 80s)

rewind-80s-copy4
The 80's Live Volume 3 "Headbangers And Heavy Metal"

One of the most underrated heavy-metal bands of this time period has to be Saxon. Their set, as represented here, kicks ass to the point where you have to wonder why they never made it big. The only problem I have is that it isn't long enough so that I could give you more of it.
This set is drawn from two vinyl sources. The first is a rare Def Leppard boot called "Heavy Rock Brigade". It's from the Marquee Club in London. The date listed is 9-2-83, which could either be September 2nd or February 9th depending upon which country the LP originated from. It's from the band's peak abilities, and includes their hit "Photograph".
The second is from the European version of the "Heavy Metal Holocaust" box set. Unfortunately, I can't pin down the dates and locations for the Saxon and Motorhead gigs. The set says it's from a live festival in the UK in 1981.
This set was eq'd on the original master to be played as LOUD as possible. Aside from a small bass boost here and there, the only thing done to the two sets was vinyl restoration. The sound on both the shows should be considered medium quality FM. The Def Leppard show is a tight audience recording.

Pink Floyd: Live In Venezia 1989 (Ex. MOB Remaster) FLAC

rs access expanded; mega links added
Pink Floyd - In Venice - front
Exceptional Remastered Bootleg
Venezia, Piazza San Marco, July 15, 1989
The source for this remaster was a superb stereo recording, taped from a German FM radio rebroadcast of the concert in Venezia. Dozens of hours were spent, in order to manually clean every little FM noise (crackles, slight buzz,...) and make this remaster as close as possible to the quality of an official release.
It has to be noted that the German radio rebroadcast cut the second half of Wish You Were Here. The missing portion was patched from a TV broadcast source. The intro and outro (fireworks) of the show were also taken from the TV broadcast, in order to make this recording more complete (the FM source ended rather abruptly after the last chord of Run Like Hell).

OU: This is a fantastic sounding uncirculated master tape of Siouxsie & The Banshees. The sound on this is awesome … thanks mostly to the great acoustics in the cozy Theatre St. Denis. If memory serves me correctly, and I’m pretty sure it does, I don’t think Siouxsie said a single word to the audience the whole show … until she said “Good Night” at the end of Cascade.
Anyhow, great sounding tape if you’re into Siouxsie & The Banshees, you’re sure to enjoy this.

Master Tape

OU: I taped this the best way to tape any show you really want to see ... I was right up against the stage at Barrymore's and my buddy was taping the show at home for me.
I was worried because I had seen them at a stadium show a few months earlier (opening up for Stevie Nicks - I taped that show and will post it when I find it) and even though I'm a huge fan, I was unimpressed. In the much smaller, more intimate venue of Barrymore's ... they were simply electric. I seem to recall that not much notice was given about this show being broadcast But when the show sold out ... and ticket demand was still high ... I guess they decided this was the best way to handle it.
Eric, Rob and the boys played a great set, I highly recommend picking this up if you do not already have it. I am not so sure that Man Understands is the correct title for Track 19...if not, please feel free to correct.

Stevie Wonder: Milwaukee 2009 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

with special guest John Legend
Front Artwork
Marcus Amphitheater
Summerfest
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Sunday June 28, 2009
Location: Section 2, Row J, Center-Left

Lineage: Zoom H2 rear internal 120 Degree pattern mics @ 16k/44.1, Low-gain setting and 100 record level > WAV file on SD Card > Transfer to PC (Card Reader) > Audacity (Normalize Volume, Fade-In, Fade-Out, Split tracks) > WAV Files > dBpowerAMP (Convert to Apple Lossless, verified option ticked to ensure integrity) > iTunes (tag & name files) > dBpowerAMP (FLAC Level 5, verified option tickeed to ensure integrity) > Your Ears

OU: An amazing, rare show for any R&B fan. The two have performed together at the BET 2005 Awards, and John Legend joined Stevie at one of Stevie's annual House Full Of Toys shows in Los Angeles, but this is their first time teaming up for a show as far as I know.
I was a bit worried Stevie may not show up. Michael Jackson died three days earlier, and Stevie didn't issue a statement because, according to his publicist, he was distraught. John Legend was a big enough name to carry the show on his own as well, so with that crutch, I figured Stevie may have taken the day off. Plus, the BET awards were on the same night as this concert, and Stevie is a staple of the network. I figured he may ditch his gig for a tribute or something. He did perform a concert on Friday the 26 in Kansas as scheduled, so my fears eased up a bit. Luckily, the show went on as planned. And it was pretty damn good.
The MJ tracks (other than I Can't Help It and We Are The World) are not performances, rather Stevie just celebrating and mourning MJ on stage. The ending medley or Jackson songs was the band dancing, singing and celebrating with the crowd. I figured I'd leave them in as Jackson's other boots are on here which are a good portion of playback.
This is my first recording, recorded on the low-cost (but certainly capable and efficient) Samson Zoom H2. I was center-left about ten rows back from the stage. I was closer to the left speaker stack that hangs from the rafters. I thought there was no way in hell I'd get anything other than a distorted mess. I was wrong. I am amazed at the quality that this low-cost recorder gave me. The sound at the Marcus Amphitheater, quite frankly, sucks. I can enjoy the concert better with these files than I could live, at least as far as clairty goes. The volume is low, and normalizing didn't do a lot of help since there was very slight clipping (A single split-second of clipping over an entire recording will prevent effective normalizing). However, you can easily fix this on your own, I'd rather just let people adjust things on their own.
But the show was amazing. John Legend had a really good one-hour opening, and Stevie tore it up next. It was a long show... about four hours, over 3 hours after waiting and the intermission. And it was very emotional.

*Notes*
* - Nathan Watts plays bass along with the playback. Nathan Watts, Stevie's longtim bass players, also played bass on the original recording by The Jacksons which appeared on their "Destiny" album.
** - Stevie wrote this song for Michael Jackson and it appeared on Jackson's "Off The Wall" album. Stevie has performed it before, but it's usually a more jazzy version. Here, he performs it the way Quincy Jones produced it for Jackson.
*** - This is an original composition that Stevie has felt inspired to debut in the wake of Jackson's death. He has not finished it yet, as you can tell by the way he just sort of hums some of the lyrics.

Excellent Soundboard.
Track Sources: Various shows during 1969-70.
Ottawa 10/15/69: Heaven & Hell, I Can't Explain, Fortune Teller, Tattoo, Young Man Blues.
New York 10/18/69: It's A Boy, 1921, Amazing Journey, Sparks
Leeds 2/14/70: Substitute, Happy Jack, I'm A Boy. (Yes, "thee" Leeds concert.
Theatre des Champs Elysees, Paris 01/16/1970: Shaking All Over.

The sound quality on this bootleg is quite clean on most of the tracks, which implies they come from low generation tape sources.
One of my favorite Who Boots! The tracklist for this title was different on nearly every reference I found. The back cover is what is listed above, but I believe it to be inaccurate. There are 18 tracks, it is The Who and it kicks ass. That much is for sure. The EAC-freedb database splits "I'm A Boy" and "A Quick One" into 2 separate tracks, and does not include "My Generation" on this disc. I played the disc for the first time in over a decade and the last song is indeed "Shaking All Over" and not "My Generation" as listed on the back insert.
Regardless, a true must have.
Tracks look like CDDA with probability 100%.

About half of the tracks are now available on the Pixies at the BBC release, so I have removed those. One, Is She Weird?, is specified as not being from the BBC sessions, but the date is remarkably similar, so I have removed that, just to be on the safe side.
What's left is a nice collection of alternative takes and a couple of cover versions. I've included scans of the cd cover, in case you want to build your own full version using the officially released material.
The Pixies are currently touring and I saw them in London last week. They were incredible - possibly their best show that I've seen since 1989. So, if you can get a ticket, you won't be disappointed.
Oh, and you know all the usual stuff about not selling, etc...

He wasn't a big trader and I don't think he was a Marillion fan because he didn't want any Marillion in return. It was marked as a soundboard when I received it.

Jimi Hendrix: Shokan House 1969 (FLAC)

This is probably the first & rarest bootleg LP of Jimi Hendrix!
LP
"THIS FLYER" LP
LP > CDR > EAC > WAV > FLAC

Released in April 1970, 4000 Jamaican pressing copies reported but probably far less, it sported a plain jacket & black center labels. A number of copies were circulated & sold with Black Panther propaganda inside.
The title came from the enclosed slip of paper which stated: "This Flyer is for the man who walked into a pad at Woodstock, raised his axe and talk to the people around him, and they talked together"
The album contained 4 untitled jams, a long affair which dominate side 1 and 3 shorter pieces on side 2, including "Flying", the only one with lyrics. Recorded on September 19(?), 1969 at Shokan House around Woodstock, the jams featured unknown Welsh pianist Mike Ephron with Juma Sultan on flute & percussion and Jerry Velez also on percussion.
Still not sure of the real origin of the recording itself, sound like Soundboard to my ears but I remember to have read somewhere that it could be Audience Source. The LP to CDR transfer is the cleanest I have heard so far, direct from the LP's owner.

Tracklisting:
1. INSTRUMENTAL JAMS
2. FLYING (Here I Go)
3. INSTRUMENTAL JAM
4. INSTRUMENTAL JAM

Adam And The Ants: Los Angeles 1981 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

ants19810601-front
Adam and the Ants came from the Punk Rock movement in the late 1970's, but did not find much international success until 1980-1. This show is most likely from 1981. If you have an exact date, please let all of us know. To me, their sound represents a crossover from the punk style to the darker, richer sound of the 1980's.

4) In My Time Of Dying ( Includes: " You Shook Me")

5) Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp
6) White Summer/Black Mountain Side
7) Kashmir

Disc Three:
1) Moby Dick
2) Guitar Solo (Includes: "Dixie" and "The Star Spangled Banner")
3) Achilles Last Stand
4) Stairway To Heaven
5) Rock And Roll
6) It'll Be Me (With Mick Ralphs Of Bad Company)

There was no review of this on Underground Uprising, so I'll give you a brief review of the performance.
There are three audience recording sources of this show.
Here's how the titles breakdown according to Bootledz:
5-22-77, sources 1,2, & 3
Polished Performances 1977 (POT), Song of the South (Capricorn), Unbooted (Tarantura), It'll Be Zep (SIRA, 3cd), Complete Tarrant Concert (Wendy Records,3cd), & Jamming With Mick Ralphs (Empress Valley, 3cd)
Tarantura, Capricorn, and POT feature the first source. Tarantura and POT don't include any of Moby Dick. Capricorn seems to be the full tape.
Silver Rarities uses the third tape source through Since I've Been Loving You, then switches to the second source for No Quarter and Ten Years Gone. SIRA switches back to source three for Going To California, Black Country Woman, and Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp. After that, it switches to source two through the end of Moby Dick. The remainder of the show is from source one.
Wendy uses the same mix as SIRA until half way through Moby Dick, where it switches to the first tape source. It briefly switches back to a known source after Achilles Last Stand.
Empress Valley mixture is slightly different. It uses source two for half of Dying, all of Since, most of Black Country Woman, all of Bron-Yr-Aur, and the first half of Moby Dick. After that, source one is the primary tape, with it's small gaps filled by source two.
Wendy and Empress have amplified there tapes some.
An Excellent performance from the group, and Wendy has put together a nice sounding recording from the sources they used.
A little bit top heavy because it's sound has been amplified, but it's nothing that ruins the sound of the performance, there's a decent amount of bass in the mix as well, this doesn't sound like it was overly tinkered with the way previous Wendy releases have been.
Mick Ralphs of Bad Company joins them on stage to play " It'll Be Me" as the encore.
Cheers!

Can: Berlin 1971 (VG++ Aud) FLAC

c9
Waldbühne, Berlin 1971 (the date of this Berlin show has been contentious as a concert from 1971 and another date is associated with it - May 22, 1972).

This is sampled at 48/16 rather than 44.1/16.
Source: audience recording, "Mother Sky" silver cd bootleg
Quality: A -
No signal processing or effects used at all.

TRACKS:
01. Standing so high (19:31)
02. Bring me coffee or tea (21:56)
03. I don't care (9:11)
04. Mother Sky (11:57)
05. Spoon (10:32)

Damo Suzuki - vocals
Holger Czukay - bass
Michael Karoli - guitar
Jaki Liebezeit - drums
Irmin Schmidt - keyboards

OU: This is an excellent audience recording of Can. Some wonderful moments on it. I had a version of it on cassette for many years but found this cd bootleg in 1993/4 which had the addition of 'Spoon' on it. I think this concert has probably appeared on Dime before but this is directly from the bootleg cd. Enjoy.

Uriah Heep: Geleen 1976 (FM + Aud) FLAC

Uriah Heep-08
1976-06-07
Pink Pop Festival
Burg Damensportpark
Geleen, Holland
Incomplete Audience & FM Recordings.**

DISC 1; taken from various "Low Gen" audience tapes. Songs arranged in the correct running order. Sound quality varies from track to track, some gaps, but overall is an excellent audience recording.
DISC 2; taken from a "Low Gen" FM Broadcast from Holland. Tracks follow the correct running order. Sound quality is consistent thru out, no gaps. FM quality overall is excellent for the era & country.

OU: This is just 2 out out 4 sources we have available to us of this show.
In order not to repeat songs and still mantain the correct running order of the songs played at this show, this is the best we can offer for now. It will all fiT on 1 CDR, But I choose to split it into 1 disc for the audience portion and 1 disc for the FM portion.

Artwork is included in the file.

OU: Without a doubt, this is the best Bruce bootleg that has ever been produced. David Hussey has outdone himeself here. If you don't agree that this show blows away any other Bruce boot then you may need a hearing test!!
I was lucky enought to attend all three shows at the Coliseum that December and the New Years Eve show is the longest show in Bruce history. I believe that it tops 4 hours and over 40 tracks. I have that also and perhaps I'll upload it if there is a demand for it.
Enjoy this. It's among my favorite shows of all time. Let me know if you agree.
