OU Comments: This show captures the final night of the 1981 Private Eyes tour. The performance is terrific - top notch efforts from Daryl Hall, G.E. Smith (guitar) and Charlie DeChant (saxophone) - and the energy level is very high.
The sound quality is very good but not perfect (most will probably rate it an "A"). This show is the perfect complement to the commercial release "Greatest Hits Live," which is a compilation from the Private Eyes tour.
The commercial release obviously has superior sound but it's missing the medley/band introductions, between song banter, and attitude of a band peaking and knowing it.

OU (again): this is from the "H2O- Hot in America" 1983 tour, a national broadcast across the U.S.A. Even though by this time they had enough hits to play a 3 hour concert and still not play all of them, they still found time for the usual (for them) share of rhythm and blues/ soul covers which is a big part of their thing.
since folks liked the 3 Hall and Oates shows from Boston and someone requested hearing this in a post of a 1988 Calif. show and I recorded this show as it happened, may as well share it, in 3 step torrent fashion (master > WAV > FLAC > torrent.)
so here it is. I only missed a little bit of between song talk and the very tail end of "wait for me" in here, it sounds like I got the second tape running in time for the beginning of maneater.
I wouldn't say this is the best Hall and Oates show I've ever heard, very likely the biggest audience they'd ever had at this time (including radio). I've never heard a bad or even just okay show of theirs. this was a little slicker and poppier period than the previous H & O shows I posted (from 1979, 1980 and 1981). alot of folks like their mid to late 80's stuff even more, so for those of you and the several who like all things Hall and Oates here's some H2O you can put in your ears that won't give you "swimmer's ear", and you can put in your speakers without being electrocuted. after a walk through the wiki discography I did not find any indication of anything in here being officially released. "Family Man" was first recorded by Mike Oldfield, but it was a much bigger hit for Hall & Oates.
even though "H2O" came out in '82, their new release in 1983 was a greatest hits package so that was still their newest album material.
