OU: I got this recently. I don't know the generation - sounds like 2nd or 3rd. It's got a little hiss, however it's a pretty good recording. The sound is full and detailed. This isn't one of the normal 1973 shows that floats around, so hopefully this fills a gap in some collections. I'd love to find the master on this one. Anyone?

Neil Young is recording a new album with Crazy Horse, which will be the first time he has worked with the band since 2004.
The 'Rockin' in the Free World' hitmaker is once again teaming up with the garage rock band, which will be the first time they've worked together since 2004.
News of their latest collaboration came following a post on Young's fansite Thrasher's Wheat, which said the 69-year-old rocker had told fans about it over the weekend at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Multiple fans subsequently posted on Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina's Facebook wall to ask if the news was true, to which he replied: "Yes!"
Young's representative also told Rolling Stone: "It's looking good."
Young began playing with the garage rock band in 1968 and they back him on many of his albums, including 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere', 'Zuma', 'Rust Never Sleeps' and 'Ragged Glory'.
In 2008, Young was asked if he had any desire to work with Crazy Horse again and he said: "I'm not thinking about that right now. We'll just see what happens. Something might happen. You never know. Or something else we don't even know about could happen, and that would be really good, rather than go back. But if the vibe's right to go back and grab what's back there and yank it into the future, that's a big job."

OU: So here we have every reason I needed to rip these old DATs all in one recording. This is a fantastic show and capture that had gone completely ignored for nearly 15 years, and for no other reason than I just forgot about it. Listening to it now I now understand why I caught Neil 3 more times in the 90s and never regretted any of them; the man rocks!
Extended version of Sugar Mountain, over 8 minutes, and Comes A Time is dedicated to Bonnie Riatt. The absolute highlights however are the emotional version of Pocohontas and the 17 minute version of Like a Hurricane.
Definitely a recording that would have been a crime to never hear again! -Don

OU: This is a definitive version of the Heidelberg 1976 show. The recording came out very well considering the equipment available in the mid-70s. In those days people were not standing to watch a show but rather would sit down. Thus it was easy to put the microphone on the floor and get a decent recording. It worked very well for the acoustic part but due to some smoke coming from our place an American GI noticed it and came over and sat next to us for the electric set. He was not one of the quiet kind. The missing part of Down By The River happened because I flipped the tape over. The encore is missing on my recording because everyone was getting up and rushing to the stage so I had no chance to get my equipment set up again.
Fortunately some 15 years later I found out that the famous German taper HB also taped this show but his unfortunately has weaker sound quality. Still it was nice to fill in the missing gaps.

This show still contains an unreleased song Sad Movies aka Day and Night We Walked These Aisles. For your pleasure I have included pictures of the poster and tour advertisement. You can also see the equipment I used.
