OU: In early 1979, a buddy shoved a joint in my mouth and a beer in my hand and said, come on, Tom, we're going up to San Francisco and seeing this brand new group called 'Toto.'" WTF? A group named from that sappy Judy Garland movie? You gotta be kidding me. Well, I was blown away.
Five years ago, when I first upped this on The Dime, I got into a raging argument with a Toto fan that this concert could not have existed because it wasn't on some Toto Website, and therefore I could not have driven 5 hours up to the City, plopped down a huge amount of bread and saw both sets of one of Toto's first gigs. The fact that Bobby Kimball said "Hello San Francisco, We're 'Toto' didn't matter, this gig doesn't exist and neither did I. Well, after many days of self doubt that perhaps I didn't exist either, and after several counseling sessions, I am pleased to report that I do exist and so does one of Toto's very first gigs. It's been off the tracker for some time, so its time to let some of the newer members d/l this gem.
I made up a Jewel Case cover which is included.
Warning: There was rampant drug use before, during, and after this gig and my friends even talk about it during the recording and you can hear my friends doing it. So if that bothers you, better pass on this one. However, I am pleased to report that no animals were harmed during the recording of this show.
