Bob Marley and The Wailers: Osaka 1979 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

img_1700
April 11, 1979
Kosei Nenkin Main Hall
Osaka, Japan
Late Show

Audience Recording ---> ? ---> CD-R ---> EAC ---> FLAC (Compression Level: 8)

Disc 1
01: Positive Vibration 6:15
02: Concrete Jungle 5:43
03: Burnin' and Lootin' 5:23
04: Them Belly Full 5:29
05: The Heathen 5:28
06: Running Away 4:01
07: Crazy Baldheads 4:09
08: I Shot the Sheriff :21
09: I Shot the Sheriff (cont'd) 4:16
10: War ---> No More Trouble 5:45
11: No Woman No Cry 9:00
12: Lively Up Yourself 6:50
13: Jammin' 8:30

Disc 2:
01. Is This Love? 5:37
02. Get Up, Stand Up! 5:38
03. Exodus 9:42

OU: Great quality for an audience recording. There is a cut at the beginning of No Woman No Cry, but it doesn't really leave out any of the song, just a couple of seconds from the keyboard intro. The Heathen up to Crazy Baldheads is a medley. Some guy in the crowd begs for Is This Love after Jammin' and the band plays it as the next song. The show finishes up with Get Up Stand up leading into Exodus, which is cut near the very end, leaving out the crowd applause at the end of the show. Do everyone a favor and share this with at least one other person! -Tuff Gong

Bob Marley and The Wailers: Barcelona 1980 (VG+ Aud) FLAC

Booklet
Plaza de Toros La Monumental
Barcelona, Spain
June 30, 1980

This is perhaps the best possible edition of this concert so far, from three different sources.
The Disc One is a Soundboard published before by "niteshift" in reggaetraders, and then
published in Dime (I don't remember the author, as the torrent disappeared).
Disc two is an Audience Recording, tracks 1 to 4 are an Audience Recording different from niteshif of unknown origin, but with much better sound and , tracks 5 to 10 are from niteshift. The track 11 is the Spanish TV special then, is the Angel Casas Musical Express, appearing on the show interviews with Bob Marley and people around him. And also the wonderful Soundcheck of Three Little Birds and Wake Up And Live.
*The concert At the "Plaza de Toros Monumental de Barcelona" from June 30, 1980 is a favorite of collectors, as it has one specific characteristic: the Wailers sang "Three Little Birds." Why?
In 1980 in Spain, off the echoes of "Is this love" and without "Survival" got a hit-single, a television commercial Lois jeans using the music of "Three little birds" got the biggest
promotion of Jamaica ever had in Spain. That "No importa que, más da, si se mueve tu Lois, déjalo bailar" ("No matter, who cares, if you move your Lois, let it dance") became very popular.
Therefore, what the world was the single "Zimbabwe" to "Survival" on the B side (Island WIP6597 - March 1980), in Spain included "Three Little Birds" on side B (Ariola A 101 465) .. . and a cover with the title "No importa, que más da" ("No matter, who cares") referring, I've never seen anything like it in the face B of the disc.
*Extracted from a bob-marley.es review.

Bob Marley and The Wailers: Madison 1979 (Soundboard) FLAC

untitled2
Dane County Coliseum, Madison, Wisconsin, USA
November 11, 1979
same as other sources of this boot but processed with Soundforge + Waves (BIAS) "Z-noise" noise reduction plug-in to remove excessive tape hiss

OU: Listening to the first track, I noticed the long hissy (silent) leader before the first song faded in and figured that this baseline noise would be easy to remove with a good noise reduction plugin as there was so much isolated tape hiss to sample. The effect is subtle but definitely an improvement. I didn't get too crazy as I really hate squelched higher frequencies due to over-aggressive noise reduction.

OU Notes: Bob Marley & The Wailers closing night at the Apollo, an amazing run of seven shows in four days. The whole night accompanied by a fantastic horn section, the band performs a unique show that's one of their best. Several tremendous moments await. Undoubtedly, the Carly bassline and the fine horns, the rhythms will take you on good travels. This is not flawless but it is still very satisfying.

Bob Marley: Studio Sessions 1979 (FLAC)

24200732-24200734-large
Survival Rehearsal
1979-XX-XX
cd>eac>flac
The Survival rehearsals tape was recorded in Kingston in 1979

the setlist of that tape is :
01-could you be loved false start , and take 1 8:16
02-survival (cut) -> zimbabwe 15:41
03-ride natty ride (incomplete ?) 8:14
04-revolution *see notes 5:37

Additional information: not very good sound, voice is clear anyways *revolution is a filler on that tape and is part of the uprising rehearsal very great tape ya can heard bob saying " cool style cool style " during could you be loved
notes... Seeded to EZT in September 2004, these tracks are for the people, as one listen to Ride Natty Ride will bring great joy. Jah guide you some more love, yes-I thanks He.
flaws...
t4 - revolution @ 5:37m, there's a 1s drop out.

+++
title: the Wounded lion session
year: 1979
Source: SBD > ? > Cx > ? > FLAC
Length: 46:40m
Size: 187 MiB FLAC

01-wounded lion in the jungle [22:05]
02-you talk too much [ 3:55]
03-babylon system [ 5:40]
04-babylon system(with false starts) (cut) [15:00]

here the comments about it from ras rojah (roger steffens): It's a great tape. The "wounded lion" clearly refers to his on-going struggle (two years old at least in '79) against the melanoma cancer that would eventually take his life in May of 1981. it also seems to refer to his ongoing struggle against Babylonian forces, urging "revolution now for sure."
that tape is probably part of the 1979 survival session despite the fact that the original cd was a bitch to rip, enjoy it - music is a passion not a competition.
notes:
This is part 2 of the Survival set seeded to EZT in September 2004. The sound quality is a bit better with these tracks, and the performance is amazingly delicate yet soulful, that experience you always wish to be around, you know, Bob and friends jamming. Bless those along the way, including Ras Rojah and the Family for securing these precious moments into history.
flaws:
Some hiss and a little hum.
t2 - You Talk Too Much @ 1:51m - R channel D.O. for 1s.
t4 - Babylon System @ 2:28m - subsecond D.O.

Length: 46:40m

01-wounded lion in the jungle [22:05]
02-you talk too much [ 3:55]
03-babylon system [ 5:40]
04-babylon system(with false starts) (cut) [15:00]

OU notes: here the comments about it from ras rojah (roger steffens): It's a great tape. The "wounded lion" clearly refers to his on-going struggle (two years old at least in '79) against the melanoma cancer that would eventually take his life in May of 1981. it also seems to refer to his ongoing struggle against Babylonian forces, urging "revolution now for sure."
that tape is probably part of the 1979 survival session despite the fact that the original cd was a bitch to rip, enjoy it
music is a passion not a competition
This is part 2 of the Survival set seeded to EZT in September 2004. The sound quality is a bit better with these tracks, and the performance is amazingly delicate yet soulful, that experience you always wish to be around, you know, Bob and friends jamming. Bless those along the way, including Ras Rojah and the Family for securing these precious moments into history.

flaws:
Some hiss and a little hum.
t2 - You Talk Too Much @ 1:51m - R channel D.O. for 1s.
t4 - Babylon System @ 2:28m - subsecond D.O.

Bob Marley: Acoustic Sessions with The Sons of jah 1977 (Studio) FLAC

sw25-front
not the cover
1977 ACOUSTIC SESSIONS WITH SONS OF JAH
This tape starts off with Exodus that is probably from a different session but it is included on here because it fits in well and it is often included in most sources of this session.
Sons of Jah is a tape that just sits with you forever. The sweet version of Waiting in Vain that last's 19 minutes is just stunning. Bob Works with his voice so many different ways and by the end he is really in a great groove. Half-way through So Much Things To Say there is a source switch. Another half of this tape was discovered a few years ago but someone has tampered with the sound. There is a strange echo and other effects added on but the music below is just amazing. coustic versions of Misty Morning and She's Gone have been a collector's dream for many years I am sure.
The tape ends with an unknown jam that is possibly not even Bob but who knows. It has been included just in case.

1. Exodus (from a different session?)
2. Jamming
3. Waiting In Vain
4. So Much Things To Say
5. Misty Morning
6. She's Gone
7. Unknown
8. Instrumental jam (perhaps not Marley?)

notes:- The concert wasn't in Chester, England, but actually took place in a town called Connah's Quay just across the borders in Wales, where the Deeside Leisure Centre is located, usually used as an ice rink, property of the English town of Chester.
- The sound is very clear, almost no hiss and no audience noise.
- The show is likely incomplete ("Could You Be Loved?" cuts after about one minute); according to a newspaper article the show has been closed with "Get Up, Stand Up" which is missing here. probably more songs (for example maybe "Kinky Reggae", "Roots, Rock, Reggae" or others) are missing. article is available on http://www.wailers.co.uk/update.html
- Enjoy!

OU notes- I removed the TAO gaps between songs using EAC and split the show as seen here.

Often mislabeled as 6.12.80 as well as 6.26.80
This show comes from Japanese bootleg: Boot -> EAC [high, secure] -> SHN
It is different from most circulating copies since it includes the I-Three's opener and also has very high quality sound. The only known cut in this show is about 5 minutes of crowd clapping before encore.
This is one of my favorite shows. Get it if you don't have it.

Bob Marley: Last Show in Portland 1979 Soundboard (A World Premiere at Qualitybootz) FLAC

bob-marley-email
This was passed on to me by a friend of QB. It is his gift to our site.
Below is his email to me:

A few years ago I'm working at a CD store in Portland, OR. It is common knowledge around the place that I have a sizable record collection and a co-worker comes to me with a request. A friend of his is looking for an album ("The Progressive Blues Experiment" by Johnny Winter) and he's wondering if I have it and if so can I tape it for his buddy. Turns out I have two copies of it so I give one to him to give to his friend. A couple of days later he shows up at work with a cassette and gives it to me telling me it's from his friend...returning the favor. Turns out he used to work at the Memorial Colosseum which was the major concert venue in Portland for years. Anyway...the tape his master from the soundboard of Bob Marley's last show in Portland before his death.

This particular recording of this show is for the most part uncirculated except for the 5 or 6 copies I've burned for friends over the years. I'd like for it to make it's official public debut on Quality Bootz. It is incomplete...No Woman, No Cry was cut due to the tape running out and whatever the first song on side 2 of the original tape starts already in progress. Since they were not complete I dumped them both..this was done years ago before I really got into bootlegs and I've since lost the original tape. Also, not being a huge Marley fan I don't know most of the songs but I'm more than a little certain a blog visitor can help you on that. The date of the show is also a mystery to me but again...a blog visitor will know where to find this info. Anyway...
The lineage is as follows:
Master cassette > HHB CDR800 > WAV > CoolEdit Pro > FLAC Frontend
Note: the date is November 19(my birthday), 1979 -Dave
1. Positive Vibration
2. Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)

Bob Marley and the Wailers: Paris 1980 (Soundboard*) FLAC

a-front
Le Bourget, Paris, France
July 3, 1980
This show is a mix of two sources, one being from a second generation tape from the master of an Audience source.
The second source is a perfect Soundboard, copied straight from the master to CDR.
The master CDR that I recieved was cut into two tracks with about 8 songs on each track.
The second set was the first track, and the first part of the set was the second track.
I have remixed the audience to add bass that had been left of the original copy.
I then slowed the Audience version down to the same speed as the Soundboard.
The set list below shows how things mixed down.

Lineage:Audience=?Tape> Maxell 2S-90 minute> CDR), (Soundboard= Reel Master> CDR)- flac - world

1. Intro 3:49 (Audience)
2. Natural Mystic 4:16 (Audience)

Bob Marley & The Wailers: Tuff Gong Studio Original Mix 1974 (FLAC)

by request!
natty dread acetate front
Natty Dread Acetate -
Notes:
This version of Lively Up Yourself has a verse at around 3.39 that is not in
the island offical released version. The verse is something like>
lively up your woman
when the morning, when the morning
when the, when the, when the , when the sun come

On the Island release version that section has the I-Threes singing the harmony
"Lively Up Yourself" 3 or 4 times.
Also this Tuff Gong original version does not include the I-Threes on Lively Up Yourself at all.
I have not compared other tracks side by side for differences but there may be a few or not many at all expect the strong sounds of the needle pops on the vinyl. I tried a copy using soundforge audio restoration and if didn't seem to remove many pops but still effected the high end treble in undesireable ways.
Be warned, this seems to come from an old piece of vinyl that contains pops and clicks. Get the offical release and you will hear no signs of vinyl.
