Another in Harrison’s series of recordings features fIREHOSE in studio performances at Brandeis University.
At least the 3/17 show has circulated in the past in unknown generation. Here it is from the broadcast master tape. I’ve never seen the 11/19 show anywhere, but even if ya do have it, this one is probably an upgrade.
Enjoy! Please Don’t Sell!! Please Don’t Disseminate in MP3 Format!!

fIREHOSE: London 1988 (FM) FLAC

firehosetitle
John Peel Session, Maida Vale Studios, London, UK
June XX, 1988
Source\lineage: FM(x)>Onkyo TA-RW344 w\ azimuth correction>Cooledit Pro 2.0>.wav>CD>eac>flac (level 8)

1) Peel intro
2) She Paints Pictures
3) Choose Any Memory
4) Making the Freeway
5) Hear Me

OU: Keeping on the fIREHOSE kick, it’s the incredibly rare Peel Session.
The Peel website doesn’t even list that this happened, despite the fact that the Peel intros and outros confirm it was a Peel show, and not just a Radio One broadcast. The best info that I can ascertain is that it took place on the UK tour from June of 1988. On June 8th, they played the Venue in Edinburgh, Scotland, so it would be around that time period.
The performances are really interesting, with overdubs and some other studio gimmickry not generally associated with fIREHOSE. Check out the disco version of “Making the Freeway!”...
The inclusion of “She Paints Pictures” really makes this a great one, and with a lil azimuth correction, the sound really is very good. I seemed to recall this not being that good in the sound quality department, but I was wrong. A solid B+\A-.
Fer those of ya who may be familiar with my posts, I do not post unknown gens very often. This one is pretty special.
Enjoy. Please Do Not Sell!! Please Do Not Disseminate in MP3 Format!!

OU: Ok, what we have here is a spectacular 1st generation SBD cassette of fIREHOSE at O’Kayz Corral, for the most part.
The SBD was obtained from a (drunk) member of the audience who, while the soundman stepped away from his post fer a moment, snatched the tape from the recorder. I certainly don’t condone his behavior, nor would I recommend this to anybody, as getting caught would certainly warrant ejection from the club and\or a severe ass-beating…
However, since I am not the culprit of this heinous act, I feel I must make right the injustice that was done by unleashing it upon you…call it trader’s guilt.
The soundman started the recording a tad late, and the tape was swiped prior to the encores, so I have filled in the remaining portion of the show with the unknown gen audience cassette I had, the quality on that one is a tad dodgy, especially when compared to the pristine SBD, but I figgered ya’d want the full show…
Please note, the first Operation Solitaire is from the AUDIENCE recording. Once ya get past that, yer in A+ territory…
The club was obviously over sold, and the band played on the floor (or a low stage), so they get bashed around a lot (see the many false starts to “Chemical Wire”). Watt mistakenly thinks that the band is off, saying at one point….”Awlright, Look!, We ain’t playing that great…” It’s all lies.. He’s obviously pissed about the ”fukked up” and “criminal” over-crowding situation, and it shows, but the performance is top-notch.
Just a note, the audience tape sometimes circulates with the incorrect date of the May 17, but the 14th is the correct date…
Enjoy! DO NOT SELL!! Please do not disseminate in MP3 Format!!

13) >DJ Outro<

OU: Here is a REAL gem. The performance and sound here are absolutely A+. Nothing else to say. Aside from the horrible DJ intro saying the band was spawned from the “San Francisco based” based Minutemen (with a horrible “YEAH!” after it), this is perfection…I must admit my guilty pleasure is saying “NO!” in my best lame DJ voice after she does it…;))…San FRANCISCO???...
I can’t find a true date fer this one, unfortunately, but judging from the fact that Gibby from the Butthole Surfers is in attendance (Watt dedicates “From One Comes One” to him), and some other shows around this time, April or May seem most likely.
All thanks and praise to ZCX fer this…
