OU comments: this is the complete show except for the 1st couple of seconds of track 9, digitized for the 1st time ever for this posting. this tape has hardly ever been played and probably never circulated before, even on cassette. (never posted before from the master tape, if at all).
this group has gone through many personnel changes since their days in the 60's as the Savoy Brown Blues Band. They still maintain a blues-rock influence and their original guitarist/singer and songwriter Kim Simmonds. first time I saw them was along with Bob Welch fronted Fleetwood Mac in 1972 in Boston. this was the only other time I saw them, and the only time I had a recorder with me.
They put on a good show. not too much crowd noise in here. the Realistic mike doesn't have real hi-fi sound, but I think most Savoy fans will find the sound enjoyable in this recording. - A this and that production. Do not sell this recording. Share freely, losslessly and gaplessly.

Savoy Brown: 2 Shows 1970 (Soundboard) 1974 (VG Aud) FLAC

postere
New York, Madison Square Garden
March 13, 1974
Lineage: Larry Clark's tape>1st generation Maxell XL II cassette (azimuth adjusted, speed checked>CD-R>EACDIME>U!
Sound quality is 4 (out of 6)/vg++

Line-up:
KIM SIMMONDS – STAN WEBB – MILLER ANDERSON (guitars & vocals)
Eric Dillon, Drums; Jim Leverton, Bass

Recorded live along the “BOOGIE BROTHERS” tour on March 13, 1974 at Madison Square Garden, NYC as support act for Deep Purple (though not mentioned on ticket).

1. Boogie Brothers
2. Rock & Roll Star
3. My Love’s Lying Down
4. Wang Dang Doodle
Total: 49:53 min.

OU: This is the only live recording of this unique Savoy Brown incarnation that I know of. I received this from my old trading mate Larry Clark a few years back (big thanks again, mate!); Larry taped a lot of NYC shows in the early 70's and it may well be he did this one himsel, too.
Savoy Brown have somewhat run out of steam by 1973, and Kim Simmonds reputedly lost interest in his band.
Luckily, he (or whoever) had the great idea to team up with Stan Webb who in 1973 had also just laid his Chicken Shack to rest, plus multitalented Miller Anderson whose band Hemlock hadn’t got off the ground.
Alas, when I purchased the album I was a bit disappointed and I still think this show here sounds like the LP should have done. GREAT playing by all, and I’m happy that they did so many numbers off their album as I think they only really come to life here. Only their stage perennial “Wang Dang Doodle” is a bit …well, sup-par IMHO with its endless repetitive “All Night Long” shouts – didn’t know nights could be THAT long. :)
They did a UK club tour in June 1974, with a Marquee Club date around the 20th.

Too band there is no recording with a complete club date set in circulation. However may sit on one – pretty, pretty, pleeze, OK?
I just wish - like any Savoy fan, I guess – they had stayed together a bit longer; reputedly (ans perhaps not surprisingly, given the high profile of each “Brother”), it was ego clashes that eventually lead to this band’s breakup by the end of 1974.
Savoy ahoy!

Savoy Brown w. Chris Youlden: Ludlow's Garage-1/70-mint soundboard
Ludlow's Garage-Cincinatti, OH
Mint low gen soundboard>cd-r>flac

The announcer says, "Fresh from the Fillmore East," so this comes right after a gig there. Wonderful quality and performance. Lineup: Chris Youlden-Kim Simmonds-Lonesome Dave Peverett-Roger Earle-Tone Stevens. To me, Youlden is one of Rock's finest voices. 2 song samples provided. Enjoy!

Setlist: (34:25)
1. I Want You To Love Me
2. I'm Tired
3. Louisiana Blues
