1978-xx-xx (November for sure; 19-21?)
BBC In Concert, Radio 1 broadcast.
OU: This is extracted from an hour long broadcast including short sets by three of the acts on the 1978 "Be Stiff - Travel by Train" tour of the UK. Probably from London's Paris Theatre, but I could be wrong.
This is a 2nd generation copy of the tape, recorded direct from the radio at the time, despite the occasional sound like a scratch on some vinyl, I can assure you that we did not possess anything more than a tape copy at the time this was made.
The sudden break in of the crowd at the end of a song (such as after Monkey Talk) was on the broadcast. The sound has been cleaned up slightly to reduce the excessive amount of hiss present, without reducing the apparent quality, at least to my ears. Looking at the sound spectrum with Cool Edit, there is very little above about 15KHz, just the hiss. This is not evidence of a lossy lineage, just the quality of the machinery we had available to us in those far-off days. The accompanying frequency analysis shows this drop off quite clearly.
Lineage: FM ->Cassette->cassette (including fades)->CD->PC (Sound Laundry)->FLAC->You
