OU Notes: This is the unedited, unfiltered, full-file All Tomorrows Parties bootleg. Here is the story...
Back in the prehistoric days, before torrents and FTP, was this thing called "trading CD's thru the mail." One of the guys who I traded with said he had something very special if I'd like to hear it, on the condition that I never trade it until he said it was OK to. He sent me this! Someone who had access to the CD recorded it and made a copy for himself and a friend. That friend made me a copy, which is where these files were extracted from.
Now, I dated this really strange chick for a while after meeting her one night after a gig in Luxembourg. Many of you know her as Rosie Lee. She was in a band called the Fluffernutter Devices and was a HUGE fan of the VU. She asked if she could have a copy of this disc, so I converted it so she could play it on her portable player on her band's van. It was this lossy copy that made it onto the site a while back and it was from these lossy tracks that Nothing Songs put out one of their bullshite compilations.
(I'd like to point out that quite some time ago, just before I met Rosie actually, the person who provided me this disk stated that it was OK to circulate it.)
So, anyone who purchased the Nothing Songs set containing these tracks is actually listening to MP3's converted to MP4's. I saw some idiot paid over $100 on ePay for a bootleg of these tracks. What an idiot!* OU Comments, not my own ;)

Midnight Oil: Three Nights in Mercury 1997 (Ex- Aud) FLAC

veganfr4
Mercury Lounge, New York
December 5,6 and 7, 1997

OU Notes: In December 1997 the Oils played three nights at New York's Mercury Theatre. Each night was captured by the same taper in the audience, and I have to say these are the best, clearest audience recordings I have ever heard.
They are also fantastic shows. I don't know the venue, but it sounds pretty small and intimate, with both band and audience having a great time.
A lot of the songs that would later become "Redneck Wonderland" are played over the three nights. Most of them had new names by the time they were recorded, and some also changed quite a bit.
I have some CD covers that I made years ago on here as well. The three shows are spread across four discs - refer to the CD covers to see where to split things.
There is a fair bit of variation in the setlists from night to night. Highlights include "You May Not Be Released", an outtake/leftover from the Diesel and Dust album later used as a B-side for Blue Sky Mining. Each night closes with "Know Your Product" by the legendary Aussie punk band The Saints. And on night two we even get a brief snippet of Led Zeppelin's "Dazed And Confused"!
The lists are also long, with 21 songs played each night.

14> Hip Hip Baby 2:57
15> If You Lose Me, You Lose A Good Thing 4:36
16> Texas Blues 5:04 "Collins Shuffle"

Comments (from Willmot's page): Very good sound quality, possibly from a soundboard source. The sound mix is good but the crowd noise and guitar are on one side with the bass and drums on the other. Overall, the sound is excellent compared to the first volume (above) even if the voice and bass guitar are slightly saturated. Great show!

Great show, but not better than the last one who made the band at Palau St.Jordi.
I recorded the show on the left side of the stage on the stands. The sound quality of the show was very poor. Chris Martin appologized about the bad sound due to technical problems.
People enjoyed very much the show, specially when they start to sound the "famous" him of Viva La Vida song that folow during this year the FC Barcelona team on the great season of their Championships!.
Some famous people attended the show, Pep Guardiola (coach manager of FC Barcelona team), G.Paltrow and son's,football player Rafa Marquez (FC Barcelona team), Santi Millan (Catalan artist) and some Top Models who visit Barcelona for the 080 Barcelona Fashion.
Thanks to my son Ian to make posible the set list.

OU: Okay, where to start on this one. The original idea for this release goes back to July of 2005. I was lent the DAT for the first recorder and was pleasantly surprised of its quality. While the level of hiss was about the same as on all the other versions of this show that I had, this one did not have that annoying sqeaking that lurked in the background of the others. After giving a copy of the transfer to Rudy C., he did a quick speed correction of the transfer. I was very pleased with the results of this and decided that it should be released to the masses. This was August of 2005.
Unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way of hobbying, and things get pushed to the back burner and forgotten.
Sometime in February of this year while hard at work on the second DVD release for HHO, I brought up the subject of this Fillmore thing to my partner in crime Arnold_Layne. We both thought that it would be a great idea, but that the second recorder would need to be spliced in to make a complete show. God knows I did not have the time to fool around with this. This is how Rudy inevitably came back into the equation.
Rudy took the original unprocessed transfer of Recorder 1, downsampled it to 44.1KHz and spliced in the missing bits using the best copy of Recorder 2 we could find. The entire thing was speed corrected and volumes adjusted. I then took this version and smothed out the transitions further. All of the editing was done using Cool Edit Pro 2.1.
Now while this isn't perfect, some transitions are barely noticible, while some are more so. There is also some tape warble present in the first bit of 'Set The Controls' that could not be fixed. All this being said, this is the most complete and the best sounding version of this show that you are likely to find.
Now without further delay, Arnold_Layne and myself are proud to give you 'A Polished Diamond.' sydb march 2006

Rapidshare Update

I sent RS an email requesting conditions of an opt-out. Their response (in broken English) was essentially if you wish to opt-out of their new policy any accounts that you have with them will be cancelled and all files will be deleted automatically.

So, we just wait and see. If you have delayed in going through the archives I wouldn't wait too much longer.

PS Have a great weekend. My wife and I are going to a concert tonight (no taping gear tonight...), well, OK maybe after the concert ;)

Bob Marley: Acoustic Sessions with The Sons of jah 1977 (Studio) FLAC

sw25-front
not the cover
1977 ACOUSTIC SESSIONS WITH SONS OF JAH
This tape starts off with Exodus that is probably from a different session but it is included on here because it fits in well and it is often included in most sources of this session.
Sons of Jah is a tape that just sits with you forever. The sweet version of Waiting in Vain that last's 19 minutes is just stunning. Bob Works with his voice so many different ways and by the end he is really in a great groove. Half-way through So Much Things To Say there is a source switch. Another half of this tape was discovered a few years ago but someone has tampered with the sound. There is a strange echo and other effects added on but the music below is just amazing. coustic versions of Misty Morning and She's Gone have been a collector's dream for many years I am sure.
The tape ends with an unknown jam that is possibly not even Bob but who knows. It has been included just in case.

1. Exodus (from a different session?)
2. Jamming
3. Waiting In Vain
4. So Much Things To Say

Rapidshare's New Policy ;(

rapidshare_logo

Dear Customer [that we are about to screw],
We hereby inform you that paragraph IV.(2) of our Terms of Use will be technically implemented and activated on 20. October 2009.
Premium Accounts whose files use more than 25 GB (25.000.000.000 Bytes) of storage will be subject to the file inactivity regulations, which effectuate the automatic deletion of inactive files. A file is inactive if it has not been downloaded for at least 90 days.

I have asked if I am able to opt-out and keep my account or if opting out means a cancellation of my account.

I will let you know what their response is.

What does this mean for us? Well I have almost 3.5 terrabytes of data stored on RS and 1.6TB on megaupload. You can see that I will never be able to repost all of my catalogue. So if links do go down they will stay down :(

I suggest that you check the blog at least weekly and grab what you want because as you can see their policy doesn't include files less than 90 days old.

If you ever decide to purchase a premium rapidshare account so that you can grab more files faster, would you please consider using this link?

Boston Invaders
For nearly 70 years, the Boston Garden was one of the legendary arenas in American history. It was the home of the Boston Bruins and Celtics. All of music's greatest stars played there. Families went to watch the three-ring circus, ice shows, the rodeo, and the Harlem Globetrotters. Speeches were given there by some of the greatest politicians of all-time, including Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy. Sadly, in 1995 the old Garden closed its doors to the public for good and the new Fleet Center ushered in a new era for sports and entertainment in New England.
This Yes show was performed at the grand old Boston Garden at a time when it was still an icon of the city of Boston. As recalled by one Yes fan that was there….”As a venue for rock concerts, the old Boston Garden was genuinely horrible. Of all the concerts I went to there, only two bands, Pink Floyd and Yes, had sound systems good enough to overcome the booming upper-bass reverberation that plagues almost every performance. Pink Floyd used extra speakers in the back of the hall to create a 360-degree soundstage. Yes had a rotating stage in the center of the floor under an amazing 360-degree sound system. For Yes, everyone in the entire building had a good seat, even the people farthest from the stage. Of the three years that Yes used the round stage (1978-1980), the 1979 show sounded the best to me, but that may have been more a matter of having a perfect seat for that show than anything else. I've lost my ticket stub but I'm pretty sure I was in the 10th row on the floor.”
The set list for the 1979 Summer American tour was different from the earlier TORMATO tours. This Boston show was only the second time that Yes played Arriving UFO and Leaves of Green, each of which were played only ten times during the whole tour. The remainder of the set consisted of a mixture of songs from TORMATO, their most recent album, and older material.
This was their 93rd show of the TORMATO tour with only 9 more shows to go. At the time, no one in the audience likely suspected that this would be the last tour for this Yes line-up for over a decade. After the tour, the band members met in Paris to start rehearsals for a new album, but things didn’t quite work out the way they had planned. Rick Wakeman describes the situation this way, “It all worked very well up until about 1979. That’s when it really started falling apart. The problems were both internal and musical. Jon and I had formed a partnership of playing and writing and a way of working. We just felt we weren’t getting any input at all from any other areas. Everything became a struggle. We ended up recording an album which we never finished, and what happened was we got halfway through…and it was like Jon
and I met one day in Paris in a little cafe and just said, ‘we’ve both had enough’. I mean the band’s just run out of…we were digging into the gold mine that just had a few nuggets left”. (1981). Just as the Fleet Center replaced the Boston Garden and ushered in a new era for New England, the loss of Anderson and Wakeman ushered in a new creative period in the life of Yes. But before this split, not long after the end of the 1979 tour, Yes were the masters of their craft and thrilled audiences at every turn. So, with this Boston show we bring you, in our opinion, one of the very best Yes performances from the year 1979.

Notes from the Re-Master
This is an outstanding recording. It comes as a master tape source from the guy who recorded it. He informs us that he used a Nakamichi 550 recorder with Nakamichi CM-100/CP-1 microphones at the time. The show has wonderful quality with harmonics visible in the frequency spectrum up to 18,000Hz. This level of quality is very rare for audience recordings made before 1980, but here it is!
The show had a bit too much sub-bass so the frequencies in the range needed adjusting. Clipping also occurred so clip restore algorithms were used. In general, the sound board manager did a good job that night but occasionally a solo would start with volume that was too high or too low and needed adjustment. There were a number of yells, whistles and clicks that were found and reduced as much as possible. On rare occasion a single or dual channel dropout was found and needed repair. Most were dealt with successfully and are not noticeable. The tape flips were successfully navigated with pasted patches. Fortunately, since tape flips occurred during applause, no other source was needed to produce the complete show. A gentle hiss reduction also made quiet sections more pleasing but a rolling hiss at one point required more specific attention. Tonality was adjusted in a few spots to
eliminate excesses but detail was enhanced throughout. Finally, after detailed analysis of segmental run-times, a speed correction was applied to create the finished product. We at PRRP have more shows from this taper so stay tuned because they are going to be great!! PRRP Staff.

Soft Machine - Sweet Music - Live An Rare 1966-1969

3 CD set containing rare Soft Machine material right from the very beginning to the "Third" period. Includes rare singles, demos, outtakes, related material by ex band members and very rare live material.

The studio stuff all sounds pretty much perfect. The 1969 live stuff is in very good / excellent quality, while the 1967/1968 live stuff probably only merits a "fair" sound rating but is worth hearing simply because it is so incredibly rare (particularly the complete performance from the Merriweather Post Pavilion in August 1968 which was on the tour when they were support for the Jimi Hendrix Experience). The collaboration between Wyatt and Hendrix, "Slow Walkin' Talk", is also a highlight, partly because it's a great song and partly because it's interesting to hear Hendrix play bass. Also features a brilliant 20 minute demo of "Moon In June" and all known live recordings of the short-lived septet line up which collapsed because of the logistical problems involved in getting so many people and their instruments around in a panel van. :-)

Highly recommended to anyone who is a fan of early Soft Machine, particularly the "Jet Propelled Photographs" collection and the "Soft Machine", "Volume 2" and "Third" albums.

OU: I thought it was time for me to share some Holdsworth. I'm not the big fan of him that I was in the 80's but his originality in both playing and composing remains really impressive- IMO. I don't think this one circulates heavily. It's a nice recording of a great show. Anyway, he is killing here! enjoy

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble: The Legendary Lost First Album (Studio) FLAC

SRV Front & Inlay (MoonWall)
"In 1978 There Was..." (SRV's lost first album)
Featuring Miss Lou Ann Barton.

"The Legendary Lost First Stevie Ray Vaughn Album"
The one and only surviving test pressing was recently discovered in a cupboard in South Austin, Texas where it had lain for the last 19 years, all other recordings of the project have been destroyed after alleged contractual disputes arose. These recording, notable for their raw energy and rare slide guitar work are essential for all true collectors. Also featuring four early arrangements of songs that later appeared on the Texas Flood album.
Due to the brevity of the Nashville '78 session the producers have added a live soundboard recording featuring Lou Ann Barton and three tracks featuring Johnni Reno on saxophone."
The above paragraph is the supposed story behind this recording as told on the cd inlay. The real story is that the band didn't like the way the album turned out and paid a large sum of money to keep it from being released. As you would expect, someone got their hands on a copy and bootlegged it.

OU comments:
here's another fine 83 Fixx show. Not sure if it's the whole show, I think it is because I have 3 others from 83 of similar length. This is all music of their 1st 2 albums, Shuttered Rooms and Reach the Beach. These and the 3rd one (Phantoms) are all full of great songs, if you haven't heard this set yet you should. Denver got to see the Fixx in a nice theater, while we in Boston got the Paradise in 82, with its immovable poles in front of the stage, so EVERYBODY gets an obstructed seat view, and on this tour, in a football stadium too cavernous even for the headlining Police. Both sound better in small theaters and clubs, I've never been in the Rainbow Theater but been told a few times it has nice sound. It sounds like it has nice sound in this recording. Probably something similar to the Orpheum in Boston where the Fixx played in 84, although I think the Rainbow is a much newer structure. this was first posted in 2008 with unknown date and venue. here's another "fix" of my favorite 80's pop band (by a mile). Do not sell this recording.
Trade freely, losslessly and gaplessly. this Fixx shouldn't need any editorial fixing either. (I think it's the full set)

Dave says: I added a little bonus that should also bring back memories to any Mtv watcher (flv player or codec needed)

The Rolling Stones: Unplugged 1968-1973 (Studio) FLAC

RSU_front
Unplugged (Invasion Unlimited IU 9542-1 / 1995)
Seems to be a different pressing (with alternate artwork) compare to the dead torrent here at TTD.
This is a collection of acoustic studio outtakes recorded between 1968-1973.
Alternate versions and rough mixes as well as unknown tracks (3,6,10) in EX Quality overall
From a brand new silver CD found yesterday at a local record fair.

BootlegZone review by Ringoswig
Rating: ***** A must have !
This one’s so damn good it was copied about five minutes after it was released!
It’s also available as 'Acoustic Motherf*ckers' on Kobra KRCR 04, with a few extra tracks from Voodoo Brew that don’t add to the listening experience of this cd. Try and find the original, it’s put together like an album.
We’re looking at the plainest cover without a rubber stamp that I’ve seen in quite some time, but it does evoke the original Beggar’s Banquet, and this has some Beggar’s Banquet era tracks on it, so it works for me.
Invasion Unlimited bills this collection of outs from 68 – 73 as "“blah, blah, blah Together they make up for a superb “Unplugged” cd (with the occasional electric guitar here and there) recorded long before the days of MTV.” They’re right, it is a superb little collection of mostly acoustic songs. The best thing is that it doesn’t drown in a sea of “mellow” like so many acoustic records by the MTV generation can.
Unplugged fires up with 'Dear Doctor' (take 1), which is widely available, and usually in high quality.
This release is certainly no exception, and the quality of this recording sets the tone for the others on this release. There aren’t any speed problems to be found, and if there’s a crackle, you’re missing the point – listen to the music and you just aren’t going to hear technical imperfections on this CD. It sounds as good as ABKCO CD’s of the same period, and I doubt these guys had “original master recordings” to work from, so I’m impressed with the results.
If you’ve got a large collection you’re sure to have most of these songs by now. Some tracks, like the terrific 'No Expectations' out, and the long, very different version of one of my favorites, 'Sister Morphine', were available on Scorpio’s 'Time Trip Vol. 4'. Both are spectacular looks at what should be considered the Stones at their best.
'Family' and 'Blood Red Wine' are commonly called Trident Demos, and don’t sound like vinyl sources here to me.
The acoustic version of 'All Down The Line' from the NME flexi-disc also appears here, with wide dynamic range and a nice rich sound.
One of the wish list songs of the No Security Tour shows up also. 'You Got The Silver' appears with the officialy released backing track, but Mick takes the vocals on this version. Keith adds some charm of his own to the official track, but Mick seems to have laid a guide vocal for Keith on this one that Keith followed to the best of his ability.
Mick doesn’t have the sincerity that Keith does, but he adds a bit of a chiseled heart to the feel of the song. It works; it just works differently.
Several other tracks sound great, like 'You Can’t Always Get What You Want' without the stupid choir, 'Blood Red Wine', and an interesting version of 'Country Honk' without the car horn. Unplugged would make a good official album.
Considering that Stripped has been released officially, this makes a nice look at what a similar idea would sound like twenty-five years earlier.

1. Dear Doctor
2. You Got The Silver
3. Family
4. No Expectations
5. Sister Morphine
6. Blood Red Wine
7. Country Honk
8. You Can't Always Get What You Want
9. You Gotta Move
10. Wild Horses
11. All Down The Line
12. C***sucker Blues
13. Dead Flowers
14. Angie

Mastered and FLAC'ed by Carl Morstadt
Master Cassette -> Nakamichi CR-3A cassette deck with azimuth correction -> M-Audio Firewire Audiophile 2496 -> CDWAV 24-bit/96-KHz wav files -> Goldwave (normalizing and crossfades) -> CDWAV (track breaks) -> FLAC Front End (FLAC 8 with sector boundary alignment)

+ Dave (2.0) then reconverted to wav via TLH > Adobe Audition 3.0 (build 7283.0) Restoration/Hiss Removal using the following settings: FFT 8192/Precision Factor 20/Transition Width 7/Spectral Decay Rate 60%/ Noise Floor automatically generated, moved to -17.5db, then meticulously hand adjusted (30 point)/hiss (ad I mean ONLY hiss*) reduced 35db/ normalized to -1db --> saved as 16-bit/44.1 KHz wav files

+ I performed this reduction as a labor of love as its destination was my best friend. I spent well over 20 minutes per track fine tuning each and every aspect of the noise floor so that there was not the tiniest iota of musical signal left (only noise) as heard through AKG K702 headphones at high volume levels (see "Cleaned by Dave" jpg). I still think that I am hearing the surf ;)
You can trust me on this one. This is not a hack job hiss reduction. The musical waveform remained completely untouched!!!
No EQ'ing.

Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.
He recorded many of the major 70's bands: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts.
Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.
Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.
Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.

John Hiatt: Pittsburgh 1997 (Digital Soundboard) FLAC

lB2htTtu9cOZMXp
(acoustic show w/ Davey Farragher of the Nashville Queens on bass)
Graffiti's
Pittsburgh, PA July 16, 1997
Excellent digital soundboard recording Another stellar recording from "The RS Archives" (a Mexminute/TheCommish production)

TheCommish notes: Really nice Hiatt show featuring pretty rare songs (Native Son, My Sweet Girl, After All This Time) PLUS a special piano version of "Sure Pinocchio", a personal favorite. Of course, the SOUND QUALITY is superb... it's like having Hiatt playing in your own living room. And for my money, the version of "Georgia Rae" (a song written about his daughter) is perhaps the best version I've heard anywhere; it sounds great in this duo's set.

Setlist:
101. Slow Turning
102. Real Fine Love
103. Ethylene
104. Native Son **
105. Sure Pinocchio **
106. Buffalo River Home
107. Little Head
108. My Sweet Girl
109. Memphis In The Meantime

201. Icy Blue Heart
202. Graduated
203. Tennessee Plates
204. Pirate Radio
205. After All This Time
206. Perfectly Good Guitar
207. Cry Love
208. Have A Little Faith In Me
209. Georgia Rae **
** - Hiatt on piano (guitar for all other songs)

Lineage: DAT master > Sony PCM-R500 (playback) > HHB CDR-850 (burning) > CDR, then CDR > EAC > WAV > Editing (see below) > FLAC Frontend > FLAC

Editing notes:
* Re-tracked show (combined WAV files in Nero, then re-split with CD Wave)
* Using Audacity, increased volume +2dB in right channel (all tracks)
* Increased volume on disc 1 (Tracks 101-109) by +4dB except for volume spikes in Track 103 (4:36 mark) and Track 106 (3:15 mark) and increased volume on disc 2 (all tracks) by +2dB
* Using Nero's wave editor, deleted 7 seconds of extra applause at end of Track 109 and applied fade-out; also deleted 7 seconds of extra applause at beginning of Track 201 and applied fade-in
* Deleted small gap between Track 207 and Track 208

About "The RS Archives":
The RS Archive consists of a selection of live recordings made by a great individual who passed away in 2005.
RS worked in the music industry in many capacities….a music fan….a musician….a sound engineer. He was considered one of the best behind the mixing board. I was honored to have known him for practically 35 years. There was no one like him….he was a wonderful human being. Everybody loved him. He was a level-headed guy who knew what sounded good and what didn't. He could conceive and design sound systems from scratch in his head to meet the artist’s needs. Whatever they wanted, he could do.
For years, he mixed music at the annual Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards television show. RS worked closely for years with Daryl Hall and John Oates, Juice Newton, Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, Tears for Fears, Crack the Sky, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Aretha Franklin, Pink Floyd, Whitney Houston, Bette Midler, Ann Murray, Michael Bolton, Kenny G, Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, Bonnie Raitt, Frank Sinatra, John Hiatt, Little Feat, Little Village, and Waylon Jennings…..to name a few.
He had a huge reputation in the business, and that's why he was chosen to work with such budding clients as Mariah Carey. With the major stars, he was one of the preferred engineers they choose to work with. A particular client of RS who had a reputation for firing sound engineers with great regularity was Anita Baker, whom he won over not only with his technical abilities and personality, but with his refusal to put up with her criticism. He quit a few times but always came back because she loved the way he mixed her music. He could coddle difficult and temperamental celebrities, and they respected his work. He was able to kick back and get along with them. Even though he knew these people, he was a very modest man.
So now, it is time to honor him by sharing some of the many recordings he made while on the road. All are perfect (or near perfect) soundboard recordings made from the master cassettes or master dat tapes. Unfortunately, I am not able to identify the original equipment these tapes were made on, however I can say that for the transferring process, the cassette tapes were played back on a Nakamichi CR-7A, and the dat tapes on a Sony PCM-R500. They were all burnt onto cdr using a HHB CDR-850. Please enjoy these tasty gems!

ZZ Top: 1st Known Live Recording 1970 (VG- Aud) FLAC

3290376631_ecba9520ee_o
1970 ~ ZZ TOP LIVE IN PENSACOLA FLORIDA
Master Tape / Stand alone CD Burner / low gen CD / Soundforge Audio extract / Flac

This is the oldest known live recording of ZZ Top to date. It just surfaced in September 2005. Quite a nice recording considering it's age. Gives a good look at what ZZ was doing real early on. Sounds like a fairly small and relaxed venue. This is an absolutely beautiful performance.

Announcer says "Budding artists from the Lone Star State, hold up your head and dig Z Z Top!
1) Thunderbird
Billy says "Yeah man! A little rockin and rollin' going on tonight huh? We're sorry about this mess up here and the sound and things eh!" followed by some intentional guitar feedback. "We're gonna try to do the best we can, how bout something off our first album, somebody else has been shakin' your tree.."
2) Someone Else Been Shakin' Your Tree
3) Gonna Ride Away (On A Rainy Day) (I Feel So Bad) (Vocals by Dusty)
4) Neighbor, Neighbor (Awesome!)
Billy says "Thank you man! How about a little blues for ya?"
5) Just Got Back From Baby's (Beautiful 7 minute extended version)
Billy says "Yeah we're sure a long way from home but tonight you're making us feel so good. Yeah.
Feeling kind of good tonight we are. Last night we were playing un uhm, Shreveport. We were down way down in Louisiana and I said man, I tell everybody down in Texas the same thing I tell everyone in Louisiana, and I tell all the men, you outta do this. I even tell all the ladies down in Texas that you outta do this, go down to Mexico.
6) Going Down To Mexico (Wicked 7 minute extended version!)
7) Down Brownie
8) Rattlesnake Shake (Very unusual extended 10 minute long version)

PLEASE NOTE: Track 8 is incomplete (less than 2 minutes long). I received it that way. I checked a few hubs and other sources and they all seem to have the same issues.

Men at Work: San Diego 1982 (FM) FLAC

mawlab-front
Source: FM Broadcast (I believe KBCO-FM, Boulder, CO)
Lineage: Broadcast>Fuji FR-II tape>CDR>FLAC8

OU: I recorded this when it was originally broadcast in 1982. I am not sure of the exact performance date, but believe it to be no later than 1982 as "Cargo" had not been released yet. As Colin Hay states before "High Wire" (a track from "Cargo"), they are in San Diego and that no-one will have heard this song yet. With the recent uploads of Colin Hay shows, I decided to dig this out of my tape archives and digitize. I have not seen that this has ever been on DIME before, or that any of it has been released officially. Unfortunately, my tape ran out half way through "Be Good Johnny", but otherwise it is pretty flawless (and 1st generation). Enjoy.

The Band:
Colin Hay- Vocals, Guitar
Ron Strykert- Guitar, vocals
Jerry Speiser- Drums, vocals
Greg Ham- Sax, Flute, Keyboards, vocals
John Rees- Bass, vocals

The Songs:
Down Under
Down by the Sea
Touching the Untouchables
Oh Tokayo
Helpless Automation
High Wire
Who Can it Be Now?
Mr. Entertainer
Be Good Johnny (part of)
