OU: The artwork has it as a Cosmic Energy Release but I'm not sure this is the same one although it shares the same title.
Got this in a trade recently. Great to see Jimmy in some good footage from this era. This was shot by MTV and for some reason was never aired. Appears to be a VHS transfer a couple generations old and is pretty dark at times for a proshot. Maybe that's why it never aired.When the stage lights are bright, it looks very good. Isn't quite as crisp videowise as I would like but it still kicks ass. A few of the songs are incomplete. The interview is great.
The soundcheck is cool but Jimmy plays the maestro rather than picking up the guitar much during it

I have no idea what the song titles are supposed to be. Track 1 is a long jam. If its supposed to be a medley, it coulda fooled me. Track 2 is the same song that Page played with Santana in Berlin in July 1980. My version of this New York show only ran about 30 minutes. I obtained it in this form nearly 20 years ago. If there was/is more to this date, I'm unaware. Concerning the NY/Paris gigs that are out and about, the set represented there is different (I can only assume). Anyway, great quality, save for the hiss. One hellacious jam.

Both sources were put into the multi-track function of Adobe Audition 3.0 and synced, the audience source's volume was boosted. Mastering was done after syncing. During mastering, levels at 150 Hz and below were boosted to emphasized the low tones, and levels at 12000 Hz and above were slightly lowered, this was done in an attempt to give an equal balance to all the instruments and vocals.
Both the audience and soundboard sources sounded amazing on their own, hopefully the combination of the two does as well. - Liriodendron

Superb Soundboard Recording probably from Pre-FM Broadcast.
OU Notes:
This show was recorded by Westwood One and parts of it has been aired from time to time. I have the silvers from one of the broadcasts and only a few songs were aired at that time. I may be wrong, but I believe this is the same quality, therefore I am led to believe this is from the master recording of this show.
This is a fresh rip of this 2-cd set by me. I scanned all the artwork at 300 pixels per inch & the scans came out very good. Includes the whole fold-out insert, scans of the actual CD's and both sides of the tray insert. I haven't seen all this art anywhere else so I hope people enjoy having it.

"Review: A near excellent recording taken from the taper's section (some nearby audience "excitement" is picked up during the encores). The recording is a bit bass heavy, but acceptable. Plant starts off a little rough during The Wanton Song,
but improves incredibly fast. Stairway to Heaven is an excellent mono recording. It's an abbreviated version with only Page playing acoustic guitar and Plant on vocals. A very enjoyable conclusion for this release. (Brian Ingham)"
