Cobranoid hit the road this November

Cobranoid hit the road this November...

They struck hard! A lasting bitemark, with venomous rings spreading outwards... Ever outwards! For you remember when Denver three Cobranoid delivered their debut album right? And that Stoner HiVe got to premiere the FULL ALBUM? And you have been listening to it ever since? Well, the boys are taking their ruckus on the road! Spreading their very own speed doom sound on a little mini tour in during November. Lucky bastards over there on the other side of the pond! Here's hoping they'll make it to Europe as well one day...

Morning everyone! No use dwelling in the past right? We’ll deal with the bastards soon enough! Even though we shall continue to do these weekly glances into the week past. It helps us focus and pay attention to what we did and what we are about to do. Only the Erronaut, Blues Pills and Fringe Sociology posts went up. But they were all good and makes us giddy to do more this week. We hope so! Even though the new edition for the Doom Charts also needs to be cooked up. But I suspect a review or two to appear today and tomorrow… And that great interview we did with Phil Hey from Psychlona to pop up soon enough as well! Have a great week everyone and keep listening to everything heavy!

Morning everyone! This post usually goes up on Monday, but as usual, stuff and an interview with Ugly Kid Joe got in the way. They always do. They rocked the stage and were tight as hell. Pre-show Virgin Prozak was also pretty damn good with their weird mix of everything heavy. Looking back at the week we did a Quick Fire Friday session, finished the Stoner Hype for July post and we’re honored to premiere the debut Cobranoid album! What a scorcher! The new and wonderful Tusmørke album got mentioned and the Castle single 100 Eyes. And the totally frightened Ronny wrote about Absorb. And during the weekend we finally published the review for the new Psychlona album Warped Vision. And we had hoped to have the Phil Hey interview about that album finished by now. But it might take a few more days. The rent needs to get paid unfortunately… Let’s hope we finish it quickly and can do more this week! Enjoy the sun and check out them albums in the Top 10 Most Listened list, they’re all worth it!

FULL ALBUM PREMIERE - Cobranoid - Cobranoid

FULL ALBUM PREMIERE

“…thirty minutes of grueling eighties inspired metal heaviness…” “…An incredible amount of gritty riffs tumble over each other, often only momentarily giving room to a guitar solo or a wonderful little flourish. Cobranoid – Cobranoid

Cobranoid – Cobranoid
Self released – 2024
Metal, Thrash, Sludge, Doom, Speed
Rated: ****

You’ve heard the whispers. Always in hushed tones, those tales of a legendary metal band from the Denver underground. You never knew if they were true. You never managed to catch them live with your own eyes. But you always knew the stories couldn’t be false. And now, there’s proof! And you will hear the proof tomorrow, as we are honored to bring you the FULL ALBUM PREMIERE for Cobranoid!  Some three to four years after starting this project and wrecking stages wherever they could, the Cobranoid three have delivered their debut self-titled six-track release. The Cobranoid three, Kyle Gaso (guitar and vocals), Logan O'Connor (bass) and Kevin Wylie (drums) earned their spurs playing in many other outfits like Chingaso or MF Ruckus and often together.

But for this project they’ve slowed down the thrash and intensified the sludge, alluding to a new moniker called speed doom. The thirty minutes of grueling eighties inspired metal heaviness sounds settled, yet alive and animated. As if they’ve lived with these songs for many years and managed to capture all the changes the compositions went through in one fell swoop. There’s humor here, not taking it all too seriously. A title like Doom Shark or Halfwit hints at that, but the metal is of such high quality that you often have to focus on one or more instruments to come to grips with it all. And when you listen to NES, learning what the abbreviation stands for, you cannot help but smile from ear to ear. Motörhead adepts, it brings more metal to the table, and some influences from the hardcore scene. An incredible amount of gritty riffs tumble over each other, often only momentarily giving room to a guitar solo or a wonderful little flourish. Just listen to the end of Shimmer for instance. Or that bass work in final track Hyena, bridging it all into a speedy and explosive conclusion. With ruddy smoke rising out of your speakers…

Listen to the first single Halfwit right now and come back tomorrow for the FULL ALBUM PREMIERE of Cobranoid!
