The Doom Charts For November 2025

DOOM CHARTS

NOVEMBER 2025

“One good thing about music on the Doom Charts, when it hits you, you feel no pain…”
~ Bob Marley

The saying “one good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain” means music can have a powerfully distracting and healing effect, allowing a person to momentarily escape their physical or emotional pain. It highlights music’s ability to provide comfort, uplift the mood, and create a sense of peace. And it can do so much more for so many of us. And with the amount of great music constantly growing larger, it could possibly become the universal healer. And when it becomes too much, there is always that off switch. If only for a few minutes, hours or even a week. And then you come back to your favorite albums all fresh and in a desperate need to hear them once again… Below, there are 40 listed that might just become one of those albums! The Number One from October carried over and the Contributors voted for a total of 224 different albums this month, 24 different albums received a Number One vote from at least one Contributor and on Number 41 we find THE HYENA KILL with their Collapse album… And all of them have the ability to offer you escape…

It's Bandcamp Friday! And the November Doom Charts just went live! There goes your paycheck... And December is already such an expensive month... But how can you say no to more great music? Ho ho ho!

An amazing list of heavy underground albums once again and will start my listening run down with Number 40: Vast Pyre...

Could have voted for all of them I'm sure... But of the ones that made it, I only voted for: Vast Pyre, Liquid Silk, Silver Orbs, Moonstone, YOU GUITARPRAYER, Papir, Dune Aurora, Doomherre, BLACK MAGIC TREE, Yawning Man (Official), Pale Horse Ritual, Maha Sohona & Winds Of Neptune .. .

 Already featured on Stoner HiVe

Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the heavy music that the Doom Charts can instill in us…

~ Hal Borland (probably misread quote)

There is a lot of great music out there. And the list just keeps on growing. We have all the amazing music from the past to listen to and every day a new brilliant album is released. We do our best to find a few of those and we hope you will continue to do your own search as well. We also hope you will tell everyone around you about those amazing finds and that you will continue to spread the good word about all those records. We long to hear your favorites! Below you find 40 of our favorites from November. And as we’re hitting December, the month full of festivities, we will try to make it the entire month full of great music. Lists, Freebies and perhaps even more. But first and foremost, can we please have your attention for the amazing albums listed below… They are all worth every second of your time…

As we enter that cozy and festive month of December, the Doom Charts looks back at all the heavy gifts November brought us! A riff-packed month once again! Amazing! Will be listening to all forty in order starting with the blackened sludge and doom metal present of Slať 's Elegie Propastná ... Should have been on my list! But then again, all of them could have...

DOOM CHARTS

NOVEMBER 2023

“He had never been willing to believe that life had to be as gray and dull as people claimed. He heard them saying: “Life is like that,” but he couldn’t agree. He never stopped believing in mysteries and miracles.” ~ The Neverending Story

It’s not easy to keep believing in miracles and mysteries with a world in so much turmoil. But many of us are still extremely lucky to have all this music to escape into. If only for an hour. Or two. As with everything, music is in the eye of the beholder. Extremely subjective. One person’s soundtrack to their life can do little for another. One of us might be absolutely smitten with a certain record while another just shrugs and puts on her or his favorite one. But as long as someone loves a certain album and professes that love, this place of wonder called the Heavy Underground will continue to grow and blossom. I’ve always been of the mind that creativity, art, books and perhaps most importantly or easily music, is still a doorway to the more magical side of life. One that should be cherished and shared. Below is the attempt of a pack of heavy music enthusiasts to profess their love for what they feel are the forty best albums they heard last month. In total 226 albums received votes this month and that seems to be a staggering amount of great records released. Each month. Cause even though only forty get published on the Doom Charts you can bet your ass that the ones voting for the albums that come in at forty-one or two-hundred-twenty-six will be professing their love for that album on their own personal sites, the outlets they write for, the podcasts they make or the videos they share. Or if you are lucky, it will be the guy or girl you did not know before, yapping on about it at a friend’s birthday party or some local dive bar… And well, that might just be your own personal luckdragon bringing you your next favorite album…

November might be a weird month, with a lot of looking forward to Year-End-Lists, but the forty albums on the November edition of the Doom Charts probably all deserve a sport on some of your Year-End-Lists... Best be checking them all!

And certainly since it's #bandcampfriday!

Personal votes on the list went out to: Super American Eagle, Spidergawd, Wodorost, Robots of the Ancient World, Ritual King, GREEN LUNG, TRAVO, Wet Cactus... Kleazer, Asteroid Witch, Greenseeker, Chief of Smoke, Mos Eisley Spaceport, Mountain Of Misery, Left Eye Perspective, Honeygiant, Saltpig, Burn Ritual, ANANDA MIDA & Jerky Dirt ...

We already wrote a few words about the new From The Depths album by Wodorost, which you can read HERE. And hope to write some more about a few others on the list... But as usual, we start out weekend Doom Charts listening session with Number 40: Modder! And hope to write a line or two about 40 to 26 on FB before the weekend is through...

Doom Charts

“I see The Doom Charts…” “In your dreams? While you’re awake? How often do you see them?” “All the time. They’re everywhere…”

I see the Doom Charts… But luckily we see them only once a month. On the First Friday of every month, the new edition of the Doom Charts go up. It doesn’t feel like they’re everywhere and all the time, right? There is no Doom Charts overkill is there? Cause even though we do the Friday Freebie sessions and we do the Peroration Post, we try to limit the amount of Doom Charts posts. Cause we’re only here to try and guide you all to albums that comes straight out of the Heavy Underground and that we feel need to be heard by everyone… Sure, there are some big names among them, sometimes. Or big names to the Heavy Underground ears. But the Contributors all feel that the albums we vote for every month, should be heard by everyone. And there is so much. There really and truly is. This month, 221 different albums, all received votes. That’s another 181 albums that aren’t featured among the forty below. And soon, the year-end-lists will start appearing. All of them listing the top albums of 2022. And if you consider the fact that we all keep discovering new amazing albums from past months and past years as well… We can only conclude that we live in amazing times, musically speaking… If only we could get our act together on all the different fronts as well.. Than we all would truly be rocking! But hey, below, especially for you, the esteemed heads from the Heavy Underground, are the November 2022 Doom Charts, with 37 brand new entries to rock out to! Go rock! Go roll!

I see the brand new November Doom Charts...

And they're not scary at all! Hell no, they're awesome... Featuring 40 amazing albums straight out of the heavy underground... Personal votes that made it, went out to:

Elder, GAUPA, WARLUNG, Vitskär Süden, Witchfinder, Onségen Ensemble, Cowboys & Aliens, Desert Wave, High Noon Kahuna, Grandier, Thammuz, Astrosaur, The Otolith, Odonata, Dune Sea, Black Mirrors & The Grand Mal

The Doom Chart For November 2021

Doom Charts

“We’re musicians. We make music for a living. It’s that simple. Nothing else matters.”
    ~ Eddie Van Halen

Damn right, Eddie. May he be rocking Walhalla, Nirvana or wherever he may be with all the other musical warriors. Many heroes have gone. But heavy rock endures. Is it possible for new heroes like Eddie to rise up? Or is the celestial dome of rock so fractured that it will never be possible for a new great musician to rise to the same level as those greats that have come before? Cause judging from the list below, featuring 23 new albums among the top 25, there is so much great music released monthly… And yes, we say this so many times, every month again, but it is awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, mind-blowing and absolutely amazing to hear all that good and heavy stuff. But will those insanely good albums reach even bigger audiences than this ‘heavy underground’ we all love to crawl around in? Do we want them to? Will the really good ones always eventually grow bigger? Questions, that don’t really matter all that much, cause the honorable Mr. van Halen already said it all: “We make music. It’s that simple. Nothing else matters.” Right on! Doom on!

The first of every month, the Doom Charts go live... Of the 25 blurbed albums, there are 23 new ones... Yikes! Personal votes went out to: Low Orbit, Snake Mountain Revival, Bentrees, Messerschmitt, King Buffalo, Stone From The Sky, Mastodon, Ancient Days, Temple Fang & Phantom Druid... But been diggin the rest of 'm just as much! Will listen to all of them in a row once again... Startin now; with Restless Spirit’s album Blood Of The Old Gods...

Doom Charts

You’ll never lose you’re mind as long as you’re heart always reminds you where you left it...” ~ Mike Cooley (Drive-By Truckers)

I don’t know about you, but 2020 has made it hard to remember where we left our minds. Luckily, as evidenced by our monthly chart, the heavy underground music scene has a huge heart and maintained its focus on releasing more killer music than ever before. November finds us with 20 Doom Charts debuts and 5 repeats from month’s prior. Dig in and let us know what you love and what we missed.

The November edition of the Doom Charts went live a couple of hours ago! A few of my personal votes went out to Thammuz, KARKARA, Ruff Majik, Starmonger, Murcielago, BIG OAF, 10 Code and The Absurd! But all the others are equally amazing, gonna start playing the Doom Charts at the Number One position for a change... Sun Crow's Quest For Oblivion starts now! Just read the blurb by Patrick: "Wielding a molten take on blackened blues, high upon wings of  existential doom and proto metal, this album oozes molasses-like  sweltering groove. These contents are heady, lysergically laced and  outright otherworldly at times but with morphing elements of aggressive  density giving way to gloomy, dismal virtuosity." How can you not immediately start listening?!

The Doom Chart for November 2017

Doom Chart
“God’s creatures who cried themselves to sleep stirred to cry again.”
~ Thomas Harris, The Silence of the Lambs

As November turns into December and the weather worsens by the minute. Judging from the mushrooms popping up everywhere, this could turn wetter and colder very fast. (On the North European side of the globe, that is) We already look forward to the end of the year. Not because we desperately want to blow stuff up with fireworks. Although we do. And not just because we want to drink copious amounts of Champagne and other assorted alcoholic beverages. Although we do. But becaue it is just that. The end of the year. Approaching ever faster. And with it comes those nasty little things called End Of Year Lists. They do them for everything. But the music lists still holds something special. And just like those mushrooms those End Of Year Lists are popping up everywhere as well. The freaks who can be counted on for the Doom Charts for instance all do something with them. Just visit their individual websites and blogs listed below. And ofcourse we pay hommage to the one hosted by the honorable JJ Koczan on The Obelisk. I like’m. Those lists. Not because it necessarily grades all of my favorite albums. But because you it grands you the opportunity again to revisit all those amazing albums of the past year. And you can be sure that the Doom Charts will also do an unholy counting of the numbers. Adding all those lists of the past year up to one final tally…
But now, we give you the November edition of the Doom Charts. A tallied assortment of twenty-five heavy rock albums that bring something special to the table. ELEVEN new albums entered the list and all of them deserve to be listened to on repeat. So. Enough chit chat. Check’m out! Check’m all out!

~ Joop Konraad (Stoner HiVe)
