The Doom Charts Peroration - March 2026

The Doom Charts Peroration

March 2026

“Through the worst we prevail
So the Doom Charts will be heard…”

~ probably misheard Hatebreed lyrics

Good people listen to good music and good albums deserve to be heard by one and all. Hence, we have this Peroration Post, to give just a little bit more attention to albums our Contributors love so dearly. And when albums made the regular post, but two, three or four more Contributors wrote about that album, it must be something special. Right? But all 32 albums listed below have something special, you can bet your ass on that! So, we implore you once again, to check them out… All of them! And spread the word! Cause good music needs to be heard…

The other monthly Doom Charts post is here! Peroration time! And this time around, once again, no less than 11 of those blurbs were written by one of the crazies that occasionally writes for the HiVe... So, go read up on: Wielded Steel, Starf**K Electric Company, Spider Goat Canyon, Kaleidobolt, Gong, Goatsmoker, Fangus, Desert Colossus, The Crooked Skulls, Corrosion of Conformity and Bad Mothers Union... And of course, all the others! Or scroll down, and find posts about many of those albums already published on the HiVe... Well now, no rest of the wicked! Take your pick and listen hard!

The following are love letters from Doom Charts Contributors, devotions to albums they could not stop spinning. Each month, our writers gather to celebrate the finest in doom, sludge, metal, stoner, psychedelic, and other heavy realms. Their selections are woven into the Doom Charts, published on the first Friday of every month. But some affections run too deep for the regular edition. Some albums fall just outside the chart, or inspire so many write-ups, and only one was chosen. Here, those excesses of love remain… Unfiltered, unbound, and still echoing… A few last words which hopefully will inspire you to listen to those albums…

The Doom Charts For March 2026

DOOM CHARTS

MARCH 2026

“And then one day you find
The Doom Charts have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun…”

~ misheard Pink Floyd lyrics…

The Doom Charts is made up of a passionate collection of underground journalists, bloggers, podcasters and other devoted heavy music fiends! This ever-evolving cabal shifts and transforms from month to month and at the bottom of each edition, you can see exactly who cast their votes that month. For of course, life has a way of interrupting even the most dedicated listening rituals. As the voting deadline creeps closer, we often find ourselves wondering where the time has gone. Though the date is never a mystery, it still manages to catch us off guard every single month. Is time moving faster than it used to? Or are there simply more incredible bands releasing outstanding albums at an unstoppable pace? Deep down, we all know the answer. Below, you’ll find the top forty albums, selected from a staggering pool of 197 releases that received votes. Each one is exceptional… Each one deserving of your time and attention. Now let’s hope the month will last a bit longer this time…

Ready for another wild ride through the Heavy Underground universe? And not just together with Kal-El's amazing Astral Voyager Vol.2... But with 39 other stunning Heavy Underground releases!

Why yes! It's the March 2026 Doom Charts

Forty damn fine albums, and of those that made the list I voted for:
But as usual, I could have voted for all of them and more! Starting the rundown with perhaps the weirdest entry? Sturgill Simpson's Johnny Blue Skies project together with The Dark Clouds called Mutiny After Midnight...

DOOM CHARTS PERORATION – MARCH 2025

The Doom Charts Peroration - March 2025

“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light…”

~ Dylan Thomas

The Peroration Post for March is here. Nothing but love for albums that one or more Contributors admired, cherished and had on repeated rotation. And hopefully still has! Please check all of them out, they may be your next favorite record as well! And please keep on spinning all those cherished records new and old. Do not go gently into that good night… Do not continuously chase the horizon. Those amazing albums on the other side will get to you, we will make sure. Keep spinning the ones you love and simply open your heart to let the new ones in… They will come…

We apparently hardly ever post about the Doom Charts Peroration Post on the little old blog... But we should, cause it's a damn fine monthly post. Nothing but love for nothing but great records! Some a bit older or some a bit newer. Either way, good and heavy! We also forgot to enter our very own Stevie Reek's blurb about Lilac Vegetal, which we immmediately put up on the HiVe instead. But since it is a damn fine release, we will also be putting up the Lilac Vegetal blurb on next months Peroration Post. That's what it is therefor, to bring more attention to the albums we, the Contributors, love! I therefor chopped up what we wrote about Minerall, Ditch and Del-Toros for the HiVe to bring more light to them, cause they are deserve to be heard!

The following are professions of love and adoration by Doom Charts Contributors for albums they could not stop spinning. Each month, the Doom Charts critics submit their picks for the best new doom, sludge, metal, stoner, psychedelic and other sorts of heavy rock and metal albums. The results are compiled and tabulated into the chart which is published on the First Friday of the new month. However, sometimes a love is so great, but for whatever reason the album unfortunately did not make the published Doom Charts Edition or because there were so many contributors in love with that one album, that multiple blurbs were written, and only the one got published… Well, you can peruse that love here…

The Doom Charts For March 2025

DOOM CHARTS

MARCH 2025

“I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to listen to you…”

~ probably misheard U2- lyrics

The journey of a thousand albums begins with listening to one… Welcome to the March 2025 edition of the Doom Charts. It hasn’t happened that often, and we probably did not mention it explicitly back then. But as of now… We will. We have a tie! So, it feels only right to also blurb about Number 26, right? And since we jotted down a few lines about Number 26, we reckon we should also mention that on Number 41 lands ÖFÖ AM – OCTOPUS VULGARIS. A grand instrumental stonerrock and metal album that will surely strike a chord with many of you out there. Hell, probably all of you. The total number of albums that received votes, no less than 226… And one carried over from last month… Go feast your ears on the forty below! You don’t see your favorite? Lets us know!

There she wiggles! Starting with an Octopus in the album title and ending with one on the cover art... Seems poetic! So many great albums! And we will be listening to all 41 in a row starting with that damn fine ÖfÖ AM album! Of the ones that made the list I voted for: Kryptograf, Kaiser, Rainbows Are Free, Torpedo Torpedo, Zålomon Grass, Kadavermarch, Wood Witch, Museum Of Light, Daevar, BandCaboose, OUTER HEAD, Masters Of Reality - Official, The Death Wheelers, An Evening With Knives, Calyces, Amammoth, Fat Grass, Cruzeiro Doom, Gentle Beast, Vandhali, Jesse Stilletö, Stiff Buscemi, PLASMAJET, IKITAN & Leash Eye...

Already written about on Stoner HiVe

The March 2024 Doom Charts – 40 to 26

The March 2024 Doom Charts – 40 to 26

Stoner Hype

Here we are again, collecting what we did on our little Facebook page right after the new regular edition of the Doom Charts goes online. We count down from 40 to 26 and try to type in a few words about that album or ep that makes sense to us. It’s not a review; but usually a miniscule blurb, a little sentence to entice, to hype. A Stoner Hype… Well, we collected them here to post for you in one nice little post on the blog… Because we like to keep things nice and tidy and it helps us spread the good word about them on Instagram as well…

FULL EARTH – CLOUD SCULPTORS

"We wrote a full review about Full Earth's Cloud Sculptors a few weeks ago and you can read that one by going HERE! But in short, it's a gigantic prog rock adventure. Gigantic is the most colossoal understament every in this case... "

FRANK NEVER DIES – RED MOON RISING

"Out on Argonauta Records is Frank Never Dies's new album Red Moon Rising on which the Four Italians deliver some mighty fine psychedelic rock. Off kilter, off centre and off the wall! You might get as weird and delirius as they are thanks to that Red Moon Rising!"

WATCHMAN – CURSED

"One man project Watchman delivered cauldron bubbling, sluggish sounding, abyssal and ominous sounding doom! Cursed is the stoner doom for the creatures that live in the deepest depths of the earth..."

SKULL SERVANT – SUMMON SORCERESS

"The first thing I thought when the new Skull Servant EP hit my ears, damn these cats are prolific! The four from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA deliver impressive quality doom rock. This time the tracks have this unholy earworm and catchy ability! Especially on that first track… So beware, once called, this Sorceress will stay with you forever… "

HIJSS – STUCK ON COMMON GROUND

"Alternative rock, grunge, postpunk space, psych, the Italian three named hijss deliver all of that and more on their debut album STUCK ON COMON GROUND, out on Argonauta Records. They call it cosmic grunge. Garage kraut could work. Shit, you can call it loads of things, but you will have to call it AWESOME!"

HYDRA – INTO THE NIGHT

"We mentioned it a few weeks ago, the new three song EP by the Polish four called Hydra band. Doom metal, stonerrock, sludge and roll and with such a majestic groove that you will be headbanging as that very first break commences and that groove starts and after that, you are hooked and won’t stop banging along! And then the vocals kick in, immediately taking it into proto and classic heavy metal territory. Out on Piranha Music, the three tracks on Into The Night are pure glittering metal gold!"

THE NEPTUNE POWER FEDERATION – GOODNIGHT MY CHILDREN

"Goodnight My Children is the new album by Australian power rockers The Neptune Power Federation... By no means lullabies, the eight tracks deliver highly energetic hardrock, steeped in seventies and loving the eighties! Catchy by default, they lean into power pop and harmonies as if they were driving full speed on a motorcycle towards life's next vicious curveball... The sun's out! Wake up for The Neptune Power Federation!"

PER WIBERG – THE SERPENT’S HERE

"Per Wiberg Music's The Serpent's Here was my personal Number 1 album. Have had it on repeat for ages now. Was smitten with his early All Is Well In The Land Of The Living But For The Rest Of Us... Lights Out record from 2021 and this equals it. Prog, with loads of metal influences and an otherworldy atmosphere, cautionary, strange, mysterious and fantasy rich tales. And those eighties references through majestic key work make this one brilliant release. Epic, grandiose and with severly catchy melodies... Out on Despotz Records its another wild addition to the ever growining Per Wiberg discography!"

CANCERVO – III

"Cancervo's III arrived at the end of March through Electric Valley Records and give you this scuzzy and foggy doom metal. With a carpetted sound, III is an occult offering as deliberate, meticulous and slow as they come..."

SONS OF MORPHEUS – FRUITS

"We were honored to premiere the full Sons of Morpheus album a while ago. Fruits came out on the awesome Sixteentimes Music and give you all the freak blues you could possibly need this year! Amazing album! And you can read what we wrote about the album HERE! "

LÅNGFINGER – PENDULUM

"Långfinger's PENDULUM is a classic in every sense of the word. Out on Welfare Sounds the Swedes rampage through all those heavy rock genres of yore; and with such playful yet determined attitudes that you cannot help but listened in complete awe and marvel at all the little things they do among all those big sounds!"

THE WIZARDS – THE EXIT GARDEN

"Ten years after their first release the Bilbao Heavy Metal Warriors The Wizards are back with their fourth full-sized album called The Exit Garden. Their uncanny ability to merge NWOBHW with classic rock, proto metal and stoner are once again forged into eight wonderful tracks. Out on High Roller Records and filled with soulful guitar work and galloping riffs this is pure headbanging heaven!"

EMPTY FULL SPACE – FROM THE LIMBO

"Stoner HiVe wrote about Empty Full Space at beginning of March and could not stop listening to the krautrock and psych and space delivered on From The Limbo. Out on Spinda Records you can check out what we wrote HERE!"

DAYTRIPPER – BOOK I: THE TRIP

"Sludge doom, droning and deliciously slow and brutish! It's Daytripper and their new Book I: The Trip album. And ofcourse Frazer Jones wrote something great about it on his Desert Psychlist, read that HERE!"

OAKFARM – OAKFARM

"And finally on Number 26 we find Oakfarm from Germany, and their seventies inspired self-titled album. The blues is there of course and you'll find some psychedelic touches, but for the most part we have another classic rock gem on our hands. Eight tracks that are lead by swaying melodies and a warm groove... Perfect for those leisurely summer afternoons soon to come..."

Tune in next month when we do this Stoner Hype again for the number 40 to 26 of the April Doom Charts... Live during the weekend on our little Facebook Page or afterwards when we collect them here... But for now... Go listen to all of the 40 of February if you haven't already!
