Single Premiere – Phe – Adrift

Single Premiere

Phe – Adrift

If the honorable Bucky Brown says that 'Phe is short for Phenomenal' on their very first EP release, you know this is a band that has something special going on. Well, that little trio from the south of the Netherlands will be releasing a new album called Closer To The Sun somewhere after the summer has ended. And tracking the growth from that first EP to Glooming Dawn in 2020 and Nothing Else Is Real in 2023 was stunning. But hearing the first single: Adrift will blow each and everyone away. The growth is PhePhe stands for Phenomenal! We're honored to present to you the Single Premiere for the brand new Phe track: Adrift

For some the new single Adrift might scratch that King Buffalo itch or quench the Kal-El urge... But for all Adrift will feel like the right word, for this how Phe pulls the listener in. You are not dropped into a song, but it is slowly untethering from gravity. The new single moves slowly through the cosmos as it mirrors the psychonaut on board's half remembered journey through a heat-hazed desert night. Riffs arrive in slow waves rather than clean edges and support the collapsing dreamscapes. Hypnotic repetition beomes the kind of spell that pulls everything inward as time seems to stretch outwards...

Guitars blur into shimmering spacey haze, sometimes crushing down like tectonic plates, sometimes dissolving into distant echoing lights. The rhythm section steadies it all, not driving, but drifting through the currents like the vessel we are all bound in. Vocals cut through like transmissions from another time, human, pained, but slightly removed, effects leaving you no choice but to trust the guide as you transverse along....

Adrift is heavy, but weightless at the very same time... A slow orbit, through dust, distortion and an endless open expanse. Surrender is the only way forward...

Single Premiere – We Follow The Earth – Foamdrinker

Single Premiere

We Follow The Earth – Foamdrinker

The opening track, the title track and the final single! We're honored to PREMIERE for you the final single Foamdrinker before the full album by We Follow The Earth arrives on May 12. The Winston Salem, North Carolina four are experts in creating an intense atmosphere while combining sludge metal and doom... And Foamdrinker is another prime example of that proficiency!

The album talks of a world locked in perpetual winter, where survival demands sacrifice. The atmospheric sludge sound swells like those frozen seas shifting and breaking, ice cold expanses that boom as its weight explodes through riffs. Beneath the ice, both oceanic and internal horrors rise, as selflessness and survival collide in crushing, cinematic tension. Foamdrinker's slow burning riffs start off but you can immediately feel the surging crescendo and the distant percussion nears and the burst of fury that awaits. Heavy, intense and entirely cinematic, We Follow The Earth's sound has meditative qualities, but is often volatile and shifting with restless momentum... Like a storm gathering over all that ice cold water...

Press play on We Follow The Earth's Foamdrinker right now and be ready for the entire album dropping on May 12th! All done independently, but Nespithe Records is handling the CD's!

 PR Wire:

We Follow The Earth is a sludgy doom band that will occasionally lean into a post metal sound. Located in Winston Salem, North Carolina, the core of their sound is built on slow, crushing riffs, ever present soul shaking bass, and aggressive, strained screams. Started as a solo project for Matthew Crotts, with his brother, Robert Crotts, offering to write the concept story and lyrics for the debut album “Lightbearer” in 2023. Shortly after releasing the debut album, writing started for the 2nd concept album “Extinct”, which was recorded/engineered by Jamie King and released in March 2024. This new album,“Foamdrinker”, takes the listener on a journey through a world that is, for unknown reasons, stuck in a perpetual winter. Facing extinction, our characters are willing to go to any lengths to survive, but dangers beyond the ice lurk in the depths of the ocean and within ourselves. The struggle to overcome these challenges that we are presented with, both the external and the internal superstitions about how we think the world should work from the crux of this story. How we balance selfless acts against selfish ones can save or doom the world.

Album credits:

Iron Jinn - The Futurist

Iron Jinn – The Futurist

Back in 2023, on a hot and sweaty day, I had the honor of being a fly on the wall as Alain Johannes and Iron Jinn went through the setlist of what songs they would be playing for most of the dates they would go out together. A few weeks later, on another sweltering day, I caught that show, live in Nobel, Leiden, where the entire show felt like a wild feverish dream. And that energy is something the band always manages to conjure….

Just listen to the new single The Futurist, a nearly eighteen-minute long progressive rock journey, where you descent into a humid, flickering interior where groove and atmosphere coil like smoke. The band drifts deeper into shadowed prog terrain and become this pulsing, hypnotic, unsettling, yet strangely radiant force of nature, as if some distant light keeps breaking through. If The Futurist is the seminal calling card for the new album to arrive this fall on Suburban Records, we’re all in for one hell of a compelling, immersive and incredibly intense adventure…

PR Wire:

Iron Jinn presents ‘The Futurist’
…and Reich and Rolls towards the new album

Iron Jinn releases the first single of their upcoming album and simultaneously coins ‘Reich & Roll’ as their new genre. On the 19th of September Iron Jinn present their new album at Doornroosje, Nijmegen. They invited the legendary kraut duo zZz as a special guest. Tickets are on sale now. In the 18-minute epos ‘The Futurist’ you hear jazzy McCoy Tyner chords and riffs like molochs roll into a Steve Reich-ian minimal music jam, where guitars, cellos and keys subtly build a cathedral of sound; brick by brick. A lot of bands are psychedelic in sound, but Iron Jinn excels in mind-bending ideas. A distorted banjo is used to churn out rapid rolls like machine gun fire, while the voices of singers Wout Kemkens and Oeds Beydals reverberate their words about a world where technology is seen as salvation and models and data as messiahs. A reality where people are expected to adapt to the systems instead of the other way around. Later in the song Kemkens croons and echoes the words of Oppenheimer and Plato and just a few moments later (in the closing seconds of the track) you hear the most balls out version of Iron Jinn yet. This band is all about contrasts and it really  shows in ‘The Futurist’. Yes, if you want to be hard as a rock you also have to be sweet as silk.

Youtube

New album

Iron Jinn’s upcoming studio album (september 2026) is their first as a fivepiece. Within the new compositions, seven pieces in 70 minutes, the band places a strong emphasis on dynamics and musical interplay. Unlike their debut album (2023), an ambitious studio project as a trio, this new studio album was refined and deepened on stages through Europe. It introduces new colors in the form of two adventurous players: bassist Gerben Bielderman and keys player Jarno van Es, the latter debuted with Iron Jinn on Roadburn and luckily never left. The album  recordings - under the helm of Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho/The Devil’ Blood/DOOL) - took place in a former dance studio, quite fitting since the band plays more light-footed than on Iron Jinn’s former heavy, sometimes doomy, studio work.

Single Premiere - Maliciouz - Catharticism

Single Premiere

Maliciouz - Catharticism

Maliciouz will be releasing his new album Sympathypnotic Intercession on May 22nd. But we're honored to present to you now the first single for that album called: Catharticism! There's poetry at work here. From Joshua Tree, one-man-doom-magician Maliciouz crafts a hypnotic, molasses-heavy journey where crushing riffs and melancholic drone stretch time itself. The glacial doom feels less somber than earlier work but still unfolds in slow, immersive waves with a hallowed touch. Getting lost in the track allows the listener to release pent-up, excessive emotions, leading to emotional, spiritual, or intellectual relief and a balanced state. It’s raw, unpretentious doom that engulfs you completely... Easy to enter, but be warned, you might lose all your sorrows, angers and frustration. You might come out at the other end, slightly healed...

PR Wire:

Maliciouz

Low, slow, and loud doom from the Mojave Desert
New album “SympathypnoticIntercession” out May 22nd, 2026
Genres: Funeral doom, sludge, instrumental

After crushing 2025 with two albums “SARBERUS” and “TORTOISE”, one-man doom dealer Maliciouz returns with more oppressively heavy, psychedelic riffs on “Sympathypnotic Intercession”. A statement on grief, pain, and healing, the new album is personal and poignant.

The music of Maliciouz is described as “tectonic shifting of the earth’s crust”, “the slow, grinding decay of a planet across eons”, “almighty riffs and a dark atmosphere”, “will vibrate your skull off of your spine”,“wrapped in hypnotic, suffocating atmospheres”, “a wall of crushing weight”, “heavy as fuck”, “the riffs are gargantuan, lumbering, prehistoric behemoths”, “soaked in desert heat”, “state of the art low tempo metal”.

About the album:

What the holy blazes does Sympathypnotic mean?! A hypnotic piece of music or performance could be sympathetic if it evokes deep emotions or resonates with someone’s inner state. For example: “The hypnotic melody felt sympathetic to my grief—it lulled me into a calm where I could finally cry.” And what about the Intercession part? Inter - to place into a grave or tomb Cession - the formal giving up of rights The specific way I’m using it here is “lay down your right to heal yourself and let the music do this for you”. I fully believe in the power of heavy music to heal. My soul resonates with low, slow, and loud. Heavy music relieves heaviness. On this premise... Sympathypnotic Intercession is a collection of songs regarding life’s troubles; but with the hope of bringing relief and healing for those needing this.

Single Premiere - Beneath The Skin - Fade Away

Single Premiere

Beneath The Skin - Fade Away

That gutter spawn guitar tone. That chainsaw bass thump. The drums count down and as the vocalist enters, it just all rolls on! Like an unstoppable wave or riffs, groove and weight! This is some damn gritty stuff and we are absolutely honored to present it to you all right here right now as we PREMIERE the Fade Away single by Kansas City fourpiece Beneath The Skin!

You might know these fellas from their wild five track EP from last year called Pay Up and they are about to follow that up with something even more wicked as they are set to roll out their self-titled full-sized debut on April 18th! A full review of this amazing release will follow shortly. But holy hell, this Fade Away single alone... You ready for the PREMIERE?

A dense, riff heavy sound, rooted in doom and sludge, elevated by a strong sense of groove and attitude and the ability to turn all of that into a goddamn tsunami. The guitars hit with crushing weight, balancing slow, punishing passages with head-nodding rhythms that give the music a gritty momentum. Vocals shift between rough-edged growls, expressive, faster phrasing, adding depth and personality to the heaviness. Raw, lived through, lived-in, hard earned. Fade Away, is filled with equal parts tar pit and barroom brawl, ready to pounce, ready to bruise… But you will be proud of the scars! I know I am…

Press play on Beneath The Skin's Fade Away single now and get ready for the full album to drop on April 18th

PR Wire:

 Beneath The Skin

Doom & sludge with soul from Kansas City

Self-titled debut album out April 18th

Lead single “Fade Away” out April 3rd

Genres: Doom, sludge, stoner

FFO: Crowbar, Down, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Black Sabbath, Acid Bath, Melvins, CoC

Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, Beneath The Skin is a doom and sludge metal four-piece poised to unleash their crushing debut self-titled album this April, with lead single “Fade Away” dropping April 3rd.

Following 2025's “Pay Up” EP, an uncompromising chronicle of drug addiction and recovery, the band are back with more hard-hitting groove and gritty soul. Hailing from the Crowbar and Corrosion of Conformity school of heavy, the riffs and swagger are front and center. Frontman Mike Riley’s grizzled, wildman vocals growl and croon, oozing charisma atop a wave of punishing grooves.

IN THE BAND'S OWN WORDS:

"We worked on this album for around 2 years. We had a pretty aggressive show season in 2024 and 2025 on top of recording our debut EP "Pay Up" in early 2025, but “Pay Up” represented the band’s early days. Joshua joined in spring of 24 and “Pay Up” was already written. With this one, we wrote it all together in rehearsals during a challenging show schedule so it was more of a complete project for us. We have intentionally kind of explored the whole spectrum of the genre. This thing moves around while still having a cohesive sound.”

Beneath The Skin’s self-titled full-length is slated for April 18th, and “Fade Away” leads the charge.

Elder - Through Zero

Elder – Through Zero

Even though, we do not yet know… What the rest of the album will sound like… The first single promises a lot… “Through Zero” unfolds like a journey across an unseen threshold, where the narrator drifts between life and death, searching for meaning in the space between. Guided by echoes of the past and a growing sense of acceptance, they begin to see endings not as final, but as passageways into something unknown. Around them, sound mirrors the transformation, dreamlike textures swirl with heavy, grounding riffs, while hypnotic rhythms pull them forward. Moments of tension give way to clarity, fear softens into understanding. By the end, the journey doesn’t resolve but continues… Suggesting that crossing “zero” is not an end, but a beginning in disguise. And thus, the logical first single for the brand new Elder album dropping May 29th on Stickman Records for Europe, Blues Funeral Recordings in North America and Bird’s Robe in Australia…

Listen to Through Zero right here… And be ready for the rest of the album on May 29th!

Unveil Title Track Of Upcoming Studio Album “Through Zero”

Out May 29, Pre-Orders Start Today!

Progressive psych rock heavyweights Elder have released a first single, the title track of their forthcoming studio album “Through Zero”. The record is set for release on May 29 in Europe via Stickman Records, in North America through Blues Funeral Recordings and Bird’s Robe in Australia. Album pre-orders start today.

"In a diverse album, the title track of our new album sits on the middle of the spectrum and is a perfect first impression of what’s to come," says guitarist and singer Nick DiSalvo. "Dreamy, heavy, raw, electronic, there’s a bit of everything that makes this album special to us. Through Zero is about impermanence, coming to terms with mortality and the long struggle to not only make peace but to find a sort of solidarity with the dead. The more time passes, the more this theme returns to me, and always in a new light - much as our music always returns in a slightly changed state reflecting who we are becoming."

Two decades into their existence, Elder remain an anomaly in the heavy underground - a rare band with the ability to absorb and shed influences from a myriad of genres without falling into pastiche or losing their own identity. Through Zero stands as a strong reaffirmation of their commitment to pushing boundaries in the world of heavy rock and cements the group’s status as leaders of the pack in heavy psychedelic rock.

Over the past twenty years, Elder have mastered crushing riffs, melodic jaunts, progressive patterns, hypnotic grooves and ethereal atmosphere. On Through Zero, the band channel these years of experience into what may be their most immediate and engaging record to date, while allowing seeds from outside the sphere of rock music to take root and bloom within their progressive framework. Listeners will find familiar elements of new textures, sequences, and sounds alongside Elder’s iconic take on heavy rock. As always, every spin reveals new details.

Recorded at Big Snuff Studios in Berlin across several months between tours in 2025, Through Zero marks the first album the band not only produced themselves, but also co-mixed together with longtime collaborator Richard Behrens. Mastered by Carl Saff, the result is a record that feels more like a full extension of the band’s creative intentions than ever before.

“Through Zero” is a term borrowed from engineering and the world of music," DiSalvo reveals. "It describes the property of a frequency being able to pass through the zero point and continue into the negative. While it isn’t a concept rooted in philosophy, it resonates with me on a conceptual level: the zero point is not an end, but a midpoint along a partially unseen path. Interpretation is open: the journey is the destination, beginnings and endings may be arbitrary, or perhaps reality is simply less linear than we tend to assume.

The songs on the album explore related themes that reflect my own observations and personal philosophy. Life and death, frustration and fear, helplessness and hope - all of these exist along the same “signal path.”

Video and Single Premiere - Lord Of Confusion - Wander (Live)

Video and Single Premiere

Lord Of Confusion - Wander (Live)

We’re honored to premiere the new video Wander (Live) for the Portuguese Doom Metal magicians Lord Of Confusion. Taken from their The Weight Of Life album releasing on March 20th  through Morbid And Miserable Records and Larvae Records

So… Enter the maelstrom! For the raw, unhinged chaos of
Lord Of Confusion erupts in Wander (Live). It’s the second and final single from their new record releasing next week. The video was captured on grainy VHS during their Portuguese descent with the La Casa Fantom duo out of Norway. Twisting riffs writhe like molten metal, dual vocals claw from the void, and drums thunder like a collapsing cathedral. A haze of sound beckons listeners to wander through fevered corridors of intensity, interpretation, and delirium. Answers are absent; and we shall only be only governed by sensation. For those daring enough to follow, this is a live odyssey of noise, fury, and unearthly wonder… An invitation to lose yourself in the heart of confusion…

Press play on
Lord Of Confusion’s Wander (Live) now and get ready for the full The Weight Of Life album dropping om March 20th !

Words from the band:

“Wander is the second and last single from our new record. In this song you can listen to us pulling from various influences, from the guitar riffing to the double vocal duty, drumming, etc... It truly showcases what we are doing and what this record is about. Hope people like it, and understand what we are all about, and most importantly, that people do their own interpretations. If you're looking for an answer in our songs, you are not going to get that.”

PR Wire:

Behold! The psychedelic doom metal nightmares of Lord Of Confusion have been made manifest once again! Their second full-length album The Weight of Life is cloaked by a heavy fog, but beckons listeners to enter with an unnatural call. For those with enough curiosity to follow the haunting sound, unearthly wonders await: eerie, shrieking keyboard melodies, bewitching, wailed vocals, deep booming guitar riffs, and the terrifying atmosphere of a mausoleum during an earthquake.

According to the band: “The Weight of Life’s first ideas were thrown around somewhere in 2023, and we finished writing those songs in late 2024. A lot has changed inside the band and in everyone’s life, so this came out as a way to mark a new stage for everyone. The recordings took place in January of 2025 at garage16.studio, and the last details were done later in March that year. A lot of work was put into the mixing stage, and the master was done by Chris Fielding himself. This record shows a big step forward for us. The songs present more movement, more noise, and more influences without ever losing our signature sound. The band is super proud of it, and we cannot wait to show it to you.”

The Weight of Life is being released as a collaboration between
Morbid And Miserable Records and Larvae Records. Morbid and Miserable will be printing tapes, Larvae will be pressing CDs, and both are working together on a double LP. All formats are scheduled for release on March 20.

Bear Bones – Ridin’ Out

Bear Bones – Ridin’ Out

So yeah, I guess we’ve not been paying enough attention recently. Cause Bear Bones has apparently already been around for a year. A new project made up out of Rob Hoey on Vocals, Alex Clarke on Guitar, Peter Holland on Bass and Marco Ninni on Drums. That’s right, an outfit featuring members from Elephant Tree, Limb, Swedish Death Candy, Black Moth and Morag Tong. And for this new track Ridin’ Out, they’ve gotten Scott Black from Green Lung to go crazy on guitar. And now that they’ve gotten my attention, I will not slacken the reins…

With a definite Western or vile cowboy vibe, Ridin’ Out lumbers in on laid-back heavy blues, the groove following along in the dust cloud. Before kicking it all open, to a big windswept chorus, born out of a shadowy pulse of something doomier and dustier, a looming presence. This track seems built for the long haul, a long ride, down a dark desert with a band pushing forward through a dark and endless landscape. And now that we have Ridin’ Out, we can’t wait to hear more Bear Bones

And all you lucky folks that can make it over to Helgi’s, Hackney, London on March 30th, they will play there with Scott Black on guitar. And with Sky Valley Mistress on the bill as well!

Listen to Ridin’ Out right now and keep your eyes peeled for the album, set for release through New Heavy Sounds later this year!

PR Wire:

Bear Bones, who feature members of Elephant Tree, Limb, Swedish Death Candy, Black Moth and Morag Tong, return with “Ridin’ Out”, a brand new original track that marks the next step forward for the blues/doom outfit. Built around a driving groove and uncompromising riffs, the single captures the band at their most direct and focused to date.

“Ridin’ Out” keeps one foot in the blues while leaning fully into the weight and scale of doom. It’s a track designed for volume and for the stage — tight, deliberate and built to land hard. There’s no excess, no overthinking — just a band locked in and pushing their sound further.
The single features a guest appearance from Scott Black of Green Lung, adding another dimension to the track. That collaboration will carry over to the live setting, with Scott joining Bear Bones on stage at this year’s Masters Of The Riff at Oslo, Hackney.

“Ridin’ Out” also introduces the band’s forthcoming album, set for release through New Heavy Sounds later this year. The partnership with New Heavy Sounds (Cwfen, Blacklab, Shooting Daggers, Death Pill, Sky Valley Mistress) signals a significant moment for Bear Bones, placing them alongside some of the strongest names in the UK heavy scene and setting the stage for their most complete statement yet.
With a growing live reputation and a clear sense of direction, Bear Bones are building momentum. “Ridin’ Out” is the first taste of what’s coming next.

Upcoming live dates:

30th March, Helgi’s, Hackney, London w/ Sky Valley Mistress (tickets)

Single Premiere - Morrison Graves - Alice

Single Premiere

Morrison Graves - Alice

It felt like all the mojo would be rising once again. And like the psychedelic blues had a found a new trio to possess, haunt and bring to the end of their tether. It was 2023 and the debut album was called Division Rising. And now, three years later, Morrison Graves is back! As a four piece and with a new EP called Under The Weight of Gravity. And from it, we are now honored to premiere the second single Alice

On Alice, the second single, Morrison Graves conjure a cinematic, reverb-drenched sound that feels like a dust-choked town waiting for a signal that may never come. Their songs shimmer with wet, surf-toned guitars, streaks of fuzz, and a restless psych undercurrent that hums like a radio searching for clarity. Basslines gallop in with urgency, drums push forward like approaching hoofbeats, and the vocals rise above it all, melodic, dramatic, and sharply phrased. There’s tension in the air, as if something vital has just slipped away. Yet the hooks remain immediate and memorable, balancing atmosphere and grit in a sound both haunting and defiantly alive...

Press play and get lost with Alice...

PR Wire:

Portland-based rockers, Morrison Graves, navigate the realms of pre-doom and post-psychedelia. Their fuzzy, swirling brand of rock pulls influence from 60's psych/garage, Eastern modes, and indie rock. Morrison Graves’ debut album, Division Rising, released during the pandemic, valiantly tackled themes of gentrification, homelessness, and socio-economic disparity. This album was a collective howl in dark times, garnering an audience and establishing a precedent for the band.

After the World re-opened, Morrison Graves transitioned from a recording project to a live band. Yet, emerging into this new post-pandemic reality, it is evident that normalcy has been shattered and the fragile constructs that society was precariously balanced upon are now nakedly exposed.

In this fraught atmosphere, Morrison Graves has embarked upon recording a new EP, “Under The Weight of Gravity.” Their new songs address themes of tribalism, resource consumption, the global war machine, civil war, death, loss, and hope. There is urgency to address this existential state of dread and to sound the alarm. Firmly grounded in their ethos and distinct point of view, Morrison Graves’ response is to create rather than scream into the void. “Under The Weight of Gravity” will be Morrison Graves’ first post-pandemic release.

Video Premiere - Bronco Forte - Obvious Alias

Video Premiere

Bronco Forte - Obvious Alias

Releasing on Next Message Music, April 3rd! The brand new album by the Bronco Forte quartet. It’s called Lightning Scars and features that wild second single Obvious Alias. We’ve been grooving hard with this track and the entire album and we are honored to be able to premiere the highly atmospheric, cyber punk hewed, band performance video for the Obvious Alias single!

Lineup changes within the band have not resulted in a different sound, the air is still filled with Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Mojave Desert inspired heavy rock, but perhaps more defined and rich. It comes in all shapes and sizes, and Lightning Scars feels like a testament to the extremely different sides of all those that paved the way. Sun-baked and road-worn, echoing the loose, nocturnal swagger of sessions cut at the fabled Rancho De La Luna, the album was recorded at The Steakhouse in North Hollywood. (Also home to Era Vulgaris by Queens Of The Stone Age.) Across ten lean tracks, the band conjures desert campfire mystique and amplifier hum, and those fuzzed guitars glowing like heat lightning, will have their rhythms cruising like a midnight drive through Joshua Tree. There’s groove, grit, and a storyteller’s sense of pacing: choruses rise like mirages, riffs crunch like gravel under tires. Polished yet unforced, the album balances desert haze with sharp craftsmanship, marking a confident and vividly atmospheric second album. Bronco Forte seems comfortable with their strengths and deliver with Lightning Scars a beautiful compendium of stories. “…as the characters they depict strive to maintain their integrity in the face of a rapidly-changing world….” Integrity seems ingrained in the Bronco Forte four!

Press play on Obvious Alias.

PR Wire:

After so many iterations of heavy, desert-inspired doom rock over past decades, it seems the essence of purely driving riffs, earworm harmonies and strong songwriting that defined a genre has been forsaken. Bronco Forte are a return to the stark blast that made bands like Kyuss, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden legends.

After years of creative toil and preparation, Los Angeles quartet Bronco Forte is stepping into the spotlight as a fully-formed heavy rock phenomenon, with roots in the classic heavy music of the 1970s, seasoned with a deeply modern sensibility and sonic approach. The songs on their debut full-length album, Lightning Scars, chronicle the uncertain lives of ordinary people in the cities and wildernesses of California and beyond, as the characters they depict strive to maintain their integrity in the face of a rapidly-changing world.

The band’s lyrics balance literary style and kitchen-sink realism. Their riffs are deep and dirty, conjuring up the kinds of swinging grooves that cause involuntary head-nodding. The song structures are clever without being cluttered, and the band’s judicious use of vocal harmonies brings a powerful pop sweetness that cuts like a ray of light through the deep swampy stomp of their songs. It all adds up to a fresh yet familiar take on hard rock for a new era, as they draw inspiration and energy from their musical ancestors while casting aside the weary genre cliches of the past.

On Lightning Scars, guitarist and vocalist Chris Klepac’s focused songwriting and poignant lyrics meld seamlessly with guitarist Sako Injaian’s (All Hail the Yeti) energetic riffs to create a sonic tapestry that is somehow as catchy as it is heavy. Together, bassist Jen Glomboski (White Forest) and drummer Geoff Summers (Batillus, A Storm of Light) lay down a rhythmic foundation that is as solid and unwavering as the endless expanses of concrete and asphalt that blanket the band’s home of southern California.

Lightning Scars was tracked and mixed by engineer Kevin McCombs (Linkin Park, Story of the Year) at legendary North Hollywood studio The Steakhouse – the same studio where Queens of the Stone Age recorded Era Vulgaris. From there, the band took the audio to heavy rock mastering wizard Nick Townsend (Alice in Chains, Frankie and the Witch Fingers), who cut the resulting album to lacquer on his own personal lathe. Album art from Kevin “fetusK” Bernier (Prosthetic Records, Intronaut) completes the package.

Lightning Scars will be available on LP, CD and download on April 3rd, 2026.

Midnight Whisky Massacre – Planets Collide

Midnight Whiskey Massacre – Planets Collide

I think we’ve been mentioning Midnight Whiskey Massacre ever since the man behind it decided to put his proto touched, punky motoring metal ravings out into the world under this name. It’s a good name. One that sticks with you. But so is his own: Darren Ironside. C’mon, right? You can’t go wrong with a name like that. And with Planets Collide as well, good title almost always means good track. It’s a new single and new calling card for things to come. A bit more spaced out, less muddled, but with an equal amount of motoring punk and metal, the outcast energy pervasive. Fire rains down, wolves stalk humanity and greed lights the match that sets the world ablaze. Feral bursts of electricity power through the track and after almost three minutes you will step away knowing you’ve just heard another apocalyptic warning shot…

American Sharks - Not Dead Yet

American Sharks – Going Insane

Did you miss’m? Not as much as I did! Been thinking about doing a segment for Stoner HiVe about bands I miss like crazy. For even though we are bombarded with new amazing music on a daily basis, I still miss the hell out of bands like Year Long Disaster, Redcoats, Been Obscene and Cojones. And yes… Many more! American Sharks was among that list! And guess what?! They are Not Dead Yet! They are back and ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum… And guess what, they’re all out of gum…
But not out of kick ass riffs and that wild American Sharks energy! Just go listen to the lead single Going Insane and yes, go insane with the American Sharks! Album drops on April 17th through Permanent Teeth. I love’m!

American Sharks share new single "Going Insane",

announce North American tour with RBBP in April-May

Austin trio American Sharks share their first new single in 6 years today, "Going Insane" on all DSPs HERE. The song is the lead track from their forthcoming new album Not Dead Yet.

The band also announce full U.S. tour dates supporting Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol beginning in April. Please see all dates below. Tickets for all shows are available.

American Sharks is a three-piece band hailing from Austin, TX. Their punk-metal hybrid sound blends pop hooks with blasting-yer-face riffs resulting in something akin to if Weezer went Stoner Rock. Coupled with hook-laden singalong lyrics, American Sharks’ forthcoming 2026 album Not Dead Yet is, well, a breathtaking return.

The band is joined on the album by special guest guitar soloists: Mike Derks (GWAR), Zach Blair (Rise Against), Kyle Shutt (The Sword), David Sullivan (Red Fang), and Leo Lydon (Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol).

Since the release of their 2013 self-titled debut album, American Sharks has toured extensively supporting the likes of GWAR, Clutch, The Sword, Red Fang, Big Business, Corrosion of Conformity and many others. After touring to support their debut album on The End Records, American Sharks took time off to write and record their self-produced follow up album, 11:11 on BMG. After a 5 year break, American Sharks are back (centered around founders, vocalist/bassist Roky Moon and drummer Nick Cornetti) with 9 fast-paced, pummeling tracks.

Not Dead Yet will be available on LP, CD and download on April 17th, 2026 via Permanent Teeth.

Pre-orders are available HERE.

Single Premiere

New Dawn Fades – Leave My Loneliness Unbroken

The new album Lores comes out on March 25th! But today, right here, right now, we are truly honored to present to you the new single of said album. It’s called Leave My Loneliness Unbroken and it’s all you could ever wish to hear from the amazing four-piece from Philadelphia  called New Dawn Fades

On any given night in Philly, the walls start to shake before you even see the band. This hard-hitting quartet storms the stage like they’ve got something to prove, pouring out a thick brew of stoner grit, bluesy muscle, grunge snarl, and swirling psych haze. The riffs land heavy and satisfying, the grooves roll in deep, and the hooks stick like your favorite dive-bar jukebox anthem. You might hear echoes from some of your favorite bands, but the fire is all their own. And it’s big! The entire Lores album barrels from start to finish, tight, thunderous and leaving you begging for more! Leave My Loneliness Unbroken is therefore the perfect second calling card for all that New Dawn Fades energy, for it slows it all a bit down, instills a touch of doom and scours through their grunge roots even more. Showing you that the band can do it all! New Dawn Fades is loud, defiant, and bleeding honesty! Better not leave this single alone! Break it down like New Dawn Fades does!

NEW DAWN FADES - LORES

Heavy riffs and sludgy grooves from Philadelphia

Debut full-length “LORES” out March 25th, 2026

Genres: Doom metal, grunge, heavy psych, stoner

New Dawn Fades is a heavy rock band from Philadelphia, blending doom, grunge, and metal influences from bands like Soundgarden, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Black Sabbath, High on Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, and Mercyful Fate. The band features vocalist and guitarist GFA (Ritual Earth, Halo of Snakes), guitarist Corey Pettingill (Blackhand), bassist Algar (Green Meteor), and drummer Steve Roche (Saetia, Off Minor). Together, they deliver music that’s both heavy and dynamic, combining crushing riffs, strong grooves, raw energy, and melodic vocals with memorable hooks.

Their upcoming album, LORES, set for release in March 2026, is a focused collection of eight tracks that showcase the band at their most commanding. “Villains Come to Light” is an explosive opening track, featuring thrash-tinged riffs and relentless momentum, paired with lyrics that confront hidden threats and the challenge of facing betrayal head on. “Meet Me at Sundown” follows with swinging, driving rhythms and layered guitars, while the lyrics explore confrontation and resilience. “True Till Death” leans on heavy grooves and swagger, paired with lyrics about loyalty, defiance, and unwavering commitment. “Souls” is a bit more fuzzed-out and bass heavy, with hypnotic riffs underscoring lyrics that grapple with loss, personal damage, and inner struggle.

“Dead Vultures” is more upbeat and goes straight for the throat, featuring aggressive riffs and tribal drumming, while its lyrics focus on plotted revenge and darker instincts, giving the track an intense, confrontational edge. “Leave My Loneliness Unbroken” is more dynamic musically and introspective lyrically, featuring somber, reflective grooves and lyrics about isolation, and emotional weight. “This Night” blends 80s metal riffage with 90s grunge, creating a layered, tension filled sound that complements lyrics about emotional breaking points and catharsis. The album closes with “New Evil”, pairing ferocious riffs and hypnotic drive with lyrics confronting internal darkness, transformation, and the human spirit.

Ruff Majik - Can Of Wyrms (feat. Benjamin Berdous and the S.A. Scene)

Ruff Majik - Can Of Wyrms (feat. Benjamin Berdous and the S.A. Scene)

As usual, I’m late to the party. But you must know, I felt pretty weird about the message that appeared on Instagram almost a year ago. It felt like the Ruff Majik madness I love so dearly was coming to an abrupt halt. And I missed them immediately. And I was a bit afraid to contact frontman Johni Holiday to get the lowdown. Cause it seemed like he was going through something big. Perhaps I should have anyway. That way I might have been privy to the new path they are now carving out, the new rebellion, the new rules, made up as they move forward… I missed them. But I am happy they are back and even though I’ve been talking about how I felt during their absence and their return, it’s not about me. It’s about Ruff Majik and their quest to get you involved. To open you up. To let you spill your guts. And to get you all revved up!

PR Wire:

A new chapter begins for Ruff Majik with the release of latest single Can Of Wyrms

South African heavy rock outfit Ruff Majik return with Can Of Wyrms, a stark and emotionally unguarded single that confronts suicide from the perspective of those left behind. Rather than romanticizing loss or framing it through spectacle, Can Of Wyrms documents grief as an ongoing presence — unresolved, heavy, and communal. The song was written years ago, but only now finds its moment, arriving as the band re-emerge after a period marked by silence, distance, and personal reckoning.

Frontman Johni Holiday has previously spoken openly about PTSD, agoraphobia, and cycles of dependency formed while touring — struggles that ultimately led to Ruff Majik stepping away before the weight became fatal. That pause, and the clarity it forced, directly informs the song’s restraint. Can Of Wyrms does not seek answers. It acknowledges absence, as well as the battle waged by those in the thick of it. Musically, the track balances Ruff Majik’s stoner-punk urgency with a raw yet anthemic vulnerability. Gang vocals — recorded with friends and members of the South African underground music community — form the emotional core of the song, reinforcing its central idea: this grief is shared, not isolated.

The single also features guest vocals by Ben from Slomosa, adding a further layer of communal voice and international solidarity to a deeply personal release. All proceeds from Can Of Wyrms, including associated merchandise, will be directed toward mental-health support initiatives. The release coincides with Ruff Majik’s first live performance (31 January, Pretoria, South Africa) , since their hiatus — not framed as a victory lap, but as a statement of intent. In the band's own words: "There is work to be done."

Can Of Wyrms is not a eulogy. It is a warning, a remembrance, and a refusal to buckle under the pressures of the world. This single is currently available on BandCamp only, and will be released on all other platforms on 16 January 2026. The band will take no requests for press until the first phase is complete.

Way too many words with and about Ruff Majik
