Good Monday everyone! Hope it will be a splendid week for you all. We had quite a few reviews almost finished, but life crept up, kick us in the nuts and did not give us any time to recuperate and get some Stoner HiVe work done. Life and quite some difficulties kept us from any fun. But this week is looking better. With an rent paying interview with The Kooks tomorrow, a SINGLE PREMIERE for the awesome New Dawn Fades and at least some time to get to those unfinished reviews. We did manage to jot down some word about the new and amazing Tarlung. Did you hear it yet? And we had the amazing Ronny Dijksterhuis save the day with his words on the stunning glórach album 2026! Monday again! And another week where we only had a limited amount of time to HiVe! But those few posts were goddamn special, in my humble opinion! That wild Quick Fire Fridday segment by our very own Ronny Dijksterhuis. We wrote about that damn doomed and delightful Danakill Heat release. And di no less than two Full Album Premieres! I hope you dug into the scorching War album VeniVidiWar and that beautiful album Bentrees called Silver Veins!? We wrote a few words about it a week before and we read some gorgeous words about the album by Stephanie ‘Doomcakes’ Zalta at Screaming From The Heavy Underground as well! Well, the past week shot by! With very little time to do some Stoner HiVe work. But we still managed to get a few posts up. We jotted down a few words about the wonderful new version of Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii, Fusskalt’s new Faceless Man release, the new Red Mess called Hi-Tech Starvation and the amazing new The Big Rip EP Olympus Mons. Looking at the week past, it’s been hectic and jumping in to get the June Doom Charts done, limited even more of the time available for Stoner HiVe. So, we only managed to post Doktor420’s blurb about White Noise Generator. Our own Spider Kitten and Paddang blurbs for the Doom Charts. And wrote some words about the upcoming very cool Hibernaut album and the already out there King Potenaz. Both deserving every moment of your time, just like it did mine. Morning! We’ve got some time off approaching fast. And working hard to get all that rent paying stuff done as well as some promises we made for Stoner HiVe. So, besides those updates, not that many might appear this week. Cause on Thursday we leave for Sonic Whip Festival in Nijmegen! Can’t wait! Have you seen the line-up? Wowzah! The week past was filled with work as well but we still managed to do some HiVe stuff, I mean that Quick Fire Friday alone had eight good songs or more in it! But then we also managed to mention that wild new Gaupa single and the one by Kadavar. We put up a some words about the new Mountain of Misery, Paralyzed, Conan and Magic Pie. We were honored to receive that wonderful gift from Argonauta Records and we were also honored to be part of the Breakfast with Komatsu. And we finally put up a few words about that croissant filled morning… So, here’s to the new week! May it be good and merry for you all and for those attending Sonic Whip! Hope to see you all there!

Dozer - Rewind to Return: Rarities, Singles and B-Sides

Even though many of the Dozer fans will be in possession of these B-Sides and Singles, it is still a record too look forward to. For these will all be remastered to a new standard, showing off once again what kind of band Dozer already was. And continues to be. And as a first taster, they release the single Rings Of Saturn. It's the vinyl only bonus track for the Madre de Dios album from 2001 released through Molten Universe, which was limited to a 1000 issues... And now... It will be available for all Dozer fans! In celebration of their 30th anniversary, Sweden's godfathers of stoner rock DOZER announce the special release of the "Rewind to Return: Rarities, Singles and B-Sides" double album on August 1st via Blues Funeral Recordings and share a first excerpt with "Rings of Saturn". Formed in 1995 in the town of Borlänge, Sweden, DOZER led the earliest wave of stoner/desert rock, a fusion of proto-metal, riff-rock and punk that blasted forth from Scandinavia and Europe in response to the tectonic heft and sun-baked fuzz of American bands Kyuss and Fu Manchu.
 
30 years on, DOZER are heralded as undisputed forerunners of a movement and champions of volcanic energy.  Their status was affirmed in 2023 with the release of the landmark Drifting in the Endless Void, an amp-splitting return that dominated best-of lists and turntables, which Distorted Sound called, "a perfectly executed stoner album and then some" and was dubbed "an outstanding comeback" by Hellfire and "a magnetic fireball of propulsive hooks and cosmic majesty" by Decibel.  This renewed dominance led to DOZER’s first US tour in 20 years and set the stage for their three-decade milestone in 2025.
 
DOZER have always been prolific. Driven by take-no-prisoners energy, they'd hit the studio often, laying down songs in rapid-fire batches with little concern for schedules and album planning, and their early days saw the band self-release a multitude of small-run 7-inch singles that tapped into their DIY leanings and allowed forward momentum at maximum velocity.  More songs surfaced on compilations and as limited-release b-sides, while others went into the proverbial vault.
 
In celebration of their 30th anniversary, DOZER enthusiastically present Rewind to Return, a double album of singles, rare tracks and b-sides from across their prolific history. Neither a chronological document nor a comprehensive collection of every non-album track, this is a carefully considered selection of the band's favorites, chosen for their meaning and impact, brilliantly remastered by Karl Daniel Lidén and assembled to create the best possible record to commemorate DOZER’s vast catalog and untouchable legacy.

Mornin! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was still filled with a fever that came and went and coughing fits that had sea lions across the globe looking in my general direction and asking me to keep it down. But we did manage to do a bit of work last week. No less than three albums by No Man’s Valley got mentioned, including a few bandcamp codes. We wrote about the awesome new Warpstormer, the brilliant Cosmic Fall and went back to the final days of December 2023 to mention Engraver’s debut release called Rituals. And then there was the FULL ALBUM PREMIERE for Deep Valley Blues new album Sangue E Veleno. And our resident poet Ronny Dijksterhuis graced us with a few words about Bog Filth and an actual, wonderful poem about that album. And yesterday, before we crawled back in bed, we put up the first official announcement that this year’s Stoner HiVe Top 20 Countdown of 2024 will commence on Saturday 14th of December. And that you crazies can send your list to stonerhive@hotmail.com before 8.00 CET on that day… Well, we did do some work after all last week. How do they do it? And how long can they keep doing it? For everyone that might have been a little worried about what the stunning new Dozer album Drifting In The Endless Void from 2023 might mean for the side-project that Greenleaf originally was, have no fear, you can rest easy, there’s already a new Greenleaf album for you to enjoy! Their former Echoes From A Mass album from 2021 felt like the perfection of the sound the band had been searching for since its formation back in 1999. Especially after vocalist Arvid Hällagård joined the band back in 2014. Ten years later, The Head & The Habit is full album number nine and the fifth with Hällagård. Soundwise the albums feels like a continuation of that perfect and incredibly groovy stonerrock sound they achieved on Echoes. Lyrically, Hällagård responsible for the lyrics, found inspiration in his other job, helping people in mental difficulties and addictive forms of dependancy. It gives the album more gravity and those swirling, addictive vocals, show us that Hällagård, like the other four, is the most important part of Greenleaf. Indeed, every single member is the most important one and it feels like Greenleaf cannot exist without them anymore. Singular in delivery and presence, the four are more than their number. A stand-out band that continues to deliver outstanding albums!
