Happy New Year to one and all! May 2025 bring you all you need! And may the Doom Charts continue to feed your needs in Heavy Underground music. Cause that’s what we hope to do, every month again. And in a week or two we shall put up the Top 100 for 2024. The Doom Charts way of looking back at the entire year that has come and gone. But first we have December to enjoy! Which will always be a weird month. Less albums are released in that month. And there is a lot of looking back and making lists about the music released in the year almost finished. And there are a few Contributors off on holiday, taking a break or too busy with that year-end-stuff. Which makes December a volatile month; but o’ so lovely! For there were still 190 albums that received votes and below you can visit the Top 40 of that list. And those 40 are all there for a reason! Their need to produce the good stuff that will feed all of our needs!  

Mustard, meal... You get the deal... Due to the Stoner HiVe Top 20 Countdown, New Year and loads of other stuff we have forgotten to post about the December 2024 Doom Charts. But since we are a bit autistic in that respect, we still want to get the word out about those 40 albums before we get the word out about the 100 Best Albums of 2024 according to the Doom Charts... So here, it is, the December 2024 Doom Charts!

December is a weird month for new music on many levels. Everyone is looking back at all the good stuff that the year brought. Luckily, the Doom Charts are many! And many of them are still keeping abreast of all that new music that keeps being released as well. On a daily basis! That’s why no less than 218 albums received votes for this month! Hope you all rested up during the Holiday season, cause we got a lot of ground to cover. For the rest of our lives… And we love it! It’s been a great December and a great year and with a Contributor finally being able to name-drop Taylor Swift in one of the blurbs (Thank you Taxi Caveman!) make this possibly the best year even! And that’s why we keep cruisin’, why we can’t stop, won’t stop movin’, cause we got all that heavy music in our minds, sayin’, “It’s gonna be alright”! Happy New Year everyone! May 2024 bring you all you need!

The Doom Charts went live last Friday and without any hiccup! A great list of damn fine releases all from the Heavy Underground... Personal votes of the one that made the list, went out to:

This is not a year-end post. This is not a glance back at what the year brought. This is the regular December 2021 edition of the Doom Charts. Posted; as usual, on the first of the month. In the near future a lot of our contributors will be sending their Personal Top XX lists and they will all go up on the site. Followed by a Top 100 of all the albums that got voted on. And then we close the book on 2021. We won’t stop listening to those albums though, cause they will forever be with us. There have been so many great releases once again; that we cannot do much more but keep promoting all that heavy stuff we love, tip our hats, applaud and give them all the universal nod. But for now; here’s December. 254 albums got voted for this month and that resulted in 22 spanking new albums that got blurbed! Let it blurb, let it blurb… Let it doom, let it doom!

On January 1, 2022, the December Doom Charts of that month went live. That’s only 8 days ago. But since then we’ve been posting all the personal lists of favorite albums, and now it feels like a lifetime. We wanted to do a straight run of Top 20 Countdown and then all the Personal Favorites, hence we never promoted the December Doom Charts of 2021. So, we do that now! Did you visit the site? Did you get wild with all them bands? We hope you did! And hey, the good Doktor420 wrote a blurb again. That Speck one. Nice huh!? Anyway, personal votes went out to: Kanaan, Nekromant, Low Orbit, Spidergawd, Stargo & King Buffalo… And next month, we surely will vote for Speck! What an album! Check it out! Check’m all out!

Christmas has passed, and most schools are out on winter break, but I think Alice could agree, the third most joyous time of year is Doom Chart release day. December chart is here. We say it every year, but 2018 will go down in the books as one of the busiest and best years of quality heavy underground releases. Hell, one could argue the current decade will go down as the best of all time due to the ease of discovery and accessibility afforded by the world wide web and social media. We are here to do our part by sharing what the collective mass of various music junkies involved here at the Doom Charts has been digging. Despite the urge to just go straight into a “best of the year” type list, we figured it would be fair to include December as a typical month since there is 12 of them in a full year. December tally yielded 344 different albums sent in by almost 30 of our fellow contributors. To make it this month an album needed at least 4 votes and the higher the ranking the more weight as usual. #1 pick had 11 votes out of nearly 30 different lists for a feel for the competition we see each month. All picks are sent in with non-biased passion by our contributors who have been faithful at sharing what they are digging during the month.

I carry my music with me like a secret curse, headphones carrying sacred sounds straight to my brain, drowning out the white noise of the all-around, the everyday tedium of life, the knowledge that I have not left a mark on the world, that I am just drifting along. But…. the music in these charts makes me live, escape, dream and walk tall. It is my drug of choice, my addiction, my release.

December brings us 12 brand new entries, essentially splitting the chart in half as seems to be the trend. It’s been a busy month in more ways than one, between compiling  favorites of the year lists on our respective blogs and social media accounts, holidays with friends and families, and also new releases seemed to be dropping left and right up until the very end. Stay tuned for the Doom Charts year end finale coming shortly where we’ll feature the best of the best for 2017, as voted by our trusty contributors here at Doom Charts.
