There are those instances when you immediately know you are dealing with someone who never wanted to color between the lines. And then there are those instances when you immediately know that this is a cat who never even noticed there were lines. Harry Cloud is without any doubt one of those last ones and has been releasing artful and insane music under his own name, Cops, Single Mothers and many other monikers for awhile now. We love the fact he approaches every album once again as a different cul de sac to trash or a empty canvas to burn. There are no lines, all the colors you can imagine and there are definitely no rules! Unpredictable and highly erratic, the new album The Pig And The Machine hop, skips and jumps all over the place, turning noisy and sludgy one moment and then all indie and artistic the next. As if you are staring at Who's Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue four hours on end together with Harry Cloud and a bunch of dancing dwarfs threatening to throw shit at the painting if you dare look away. How can a piece of musical art instill so many different feelings, intense glee, paranoia, schizophrenia and release? The many many heads of The Pig And The Machine will bite and chew and rip and tear and leave you wondering where all those feelings went. Leaving you weary and at the end of your tether…

The honorable sir Harry Cloud has been responsible for quite a few releases that warp your brain and boil your blood. On his latest effort Cops he fuses Doom, Sludge and Shoegaze into something equally disturbing as his Single Mothers effort. This time Cops is a trio comprised of Chlöe Mandel, Harry Cloud and Paul Roessler who was a prominent member of the LA Punk scene in the seventies and eighties. And there is a bit of throwback sound on it that seems to revisit that late-eighties LA sound. But for the most part we get a poetic piece of doomgaze that washes over you in great waves of neuronic displeasure and an angelic voice cruisin the surf. With sudden breaks on the gigantic rocks beneath the surface. So do not try and get your head around this one; just float along and let yourself drown…

Stately artistic sludge bordering on insanity and avant-garde dadaistic drone that drags you into their own colorful tar pit and smothers you with their bizarre mushroomed psychedelica. Ooh yes, this is something that will definitely turn your head. Whether it will be on or off after the Single Mothers have done their deed is suspect to say the least. On their full-sized effort Indian Pussy the Los Angeles / Georgia duo explore every weird avenue they pass along the way. Not every street necessarily leads to beauty but even in dirty cul de sac’s like Drowning there’s enough eerie sound to enjoy. But on the dusty alleys and bright light boulevards like Coyote and White Lightning Sun we are treated to an expert cross breed monster of Primus and Melvins origin. Well; only if the two of them had been tripping together for a week or two somewhere on the outskirts of some dangerous high mountain range. And now, less than five minutes later. We return to that first step down towards an alternative reality…
