Number 10

Number 10

We enter the Top 10 by jumping 12 points from Number 11, where we found Fire Down Below. For this one we get back on that evil and ominous sounding streak, we go and sing praise to Shaitan! But even if this is some wicked an unholy doom, there is always something compelling and enthralling about this band. Especially live. And on this album, they seem to have captured that aspect of them better than ever. Touching on something stranger, some eighties things and often imploring a melody, a rise in tone that reminds you of something, hidden, somewhere deep in your brain. Earworms a plenty! And then there’s that one track, that does that same thing once again, but that for me personally at least, harshly rips you away from that doom trance state you were in, due to them vocals. But since music is always in the ear of the beholder, just like these worms, it might work out totally differently for you. Yes, in short, I’m not a fan of worms. But I am a fan of owls and crows, and they eat worms, when they’re hungry enough. So, just start over and have those birds in the intro set the scene…

Number 20

Number 20

Last year we made this weird remark about the beginning of the end of humanity when we put up the Number 20 of 2019. This year the end of humanity seemed upon us for a moment or two, right? Cause c'mon, for a moment there we all assumed the pandemic would turn at least some of us into zombies? Cause c'mon the amount of zombies in popular culture can't be for nothing? It might have been sign?It might all have been a sign? In fact the amount of albums released this year with omens or signs in the title, is also a bit disturbing. One of them features proudly on the Number 20 position of 2020. Their doom rock, their occult touches and their sludgy moments have gotten better with every release these four from Poland have put out. And now they’ve infused it with deliriously tasty space rock moments and dope ass psych. Never quite reaching that first spot on the Doom Charts the album stayed on it for quite some months. Which is logical when the peaks are so high and the energy so wild. With every track delivering gloriously evil momentum and the perfect beat to do that twisted little dance with the devil. Number 20 for your pleasure and that of Satan!

Number 6

Number 6

Five points above Red Mountains; which we found on Number 7 we find an album which was released in the first weeks of this horrible year of our Lord 2017. Doom. Metal. Vintage. Seventies. They are all key words here. The six tracks are all doom soaked, sonic wickedness, extremely heavy and completely drenched with a bloody haze. It's a Polish quartet that uses everything classic to produce something that sounds evil, occult and mystical without ever really occupying any of those words totally. For, there is no slaughtering of innocent children here or maidens let to an altar to be sacrificed. No, the mesmerizing and hallucinatory tracks make you envision lizards living inside celestial bodies or filthy priests dancing silly dances. And yes, it will make you ache for even more of that good dope... For dope it is! Really dope!
