Night Owl Cards

Like most folks in this country, I am not made of money. While going for my daily walks or driving around town, I look at the shiny gargantuans passing for cars on the local road and wonder who can afford that. There are so many of them now, maybe there actually are people made of money?   But little guys like me -- who drive a modest CRV -- must pick our moments for spending cash. Budgets and all that. And, while I've never been a bargain-hunter in everyday life, I sometimes am as a card collector.  Freebies are still a thing in the collecting social media world, though not as often as they once were. I need to do my part in that area -- it's not due to a lack of cards, just a lack of time.   A couple of housekeeping things before I get to the topic tonight. First, I've figured out the issues I've had with commenting on some other blogs as well as, probably, why others sometimes can't comment on mine.   It comes down to Google being extra particular/unhelpful and requiring the Google Chrome browser for some blogs. I don't know why it's just some and not all. But it explains why I can comment on those difficult blogs at work because I use Chrome at work. Should've made that connection earlier.   Also, I'm still building stacks of Dodger cards for those who said they were interested. It's going to take a minute. March has slowed things down as it likes to do (its final kiss-off is really sucky weather this weekend). Sometime in the early 1980s, I either read about in the newspaper or saw on the local news that a movie was going to be filmed in the smallish city where I lived. The movie turned out to be "Stuck On You!," a low-budget, B-movie sex comedy from the folks at Troma Entertainment, who would go on to become known for "The Toxic Avenger" and other low-budget horror comedies. I never saw "Stuck On You!" in theaters, I think I may have eventually seen it on the USA Network (Up All Night with Rhonda Shear) or on Turner television. The movie is pretty awful and some of the humor would not fly today, hardly anything the city Chamber of Commerce would list on their notables. That's probably why I can't find anything about the movie being filmed in my hometown (it's possible I'm mixing it up with another movie). Anyway that movie has stuck in my head all these years and here's another sticky thing that I haven't been able to get out...

  This isn't a milestone or anything. I don't know what to call it, but I just entered double digits in TCDB trades. I completed trades 10 and 11 in the last few days. I still haven't proposed a trade myself and I'm getting real lazy about that. It's difficult to take the next step when everything is still going so well. I received these five very welcome 1979 Topps football needs for a couple of late '80s baseball cards and one Dodger dupe from last year. Please tell me it's going to be like this forever. These cards came from Mccammon44. I'm a bit torn about whether Joe Ferguson goes in the '79 football set binder or the Bills binder but not as much as if Joe Ferguson was the other Joe Ferguson and it was the Dodgers binder.   These are the results of trade #11, from bearsbaseballcards.
