Mmmmmmmmmonday! Mmmmmminnniiiiiiiiiiiissssssss!

It's going to be a long week. Nothing out of the ordinary, just long. But if I stay patient and don't do anything stupid, there will be a paycheck waiting for me at the end. And then I'll be able to actually do monetary things with baseball cards! This is excellent news for you as well as me. These packages really need to get out of the house. Also, I need to buy a pack of Archives, so I can rip the set to shreds. Yup, that poor, unsuspecting set is going to absorb all of my pent-up "no new cards" negative energy. Of course, on the positive end, I'm looking forward to saving some of the cash for acquiring some cards that I actually enjoy. Cards like '75 minnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!! By last count, I had accumulated a mind-blowing 453 cards from the set. A lot of the credit for that number goes to some people who have been able to find one of those secret fountains of '75 minis that spray ...

Soap story

I believe I've officially arrived as a card blogger. I say that not because I received four separate card packages in the mail today (although that is way beyond awesome), but because those four packages mean that I am now majorly behind in returning cards to folks, and I've come to the realization that that is the way it's going to be from this point. So, if you're expecting a package from me, it IS coming. You are on my list. It just may take awhile, and with me being out of town for a few days, that won't be speeding things up any. And if you're not expecting a package from me, you may be getting one anyway. Because some of you are on my list for that, too. I'm also about to get behind on my emails because after tomorrow I probably won't be near a computer for a few days. But we could all use a little break from cards anyway, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiigggghht? Stop looking at me that way. Anyway, on to the post topic: I quite enjoy playing all the guessing...

A Yankee-hater's tribute

I'm going to refrain from posting any unpleasantness about the Yankees tonight. Even though the Yankee Stadium lovefest was a bit much to endure, I just don't have it in me to go through a litany of all I don't like about them. So, instead, I'll talk about the fond memories I have of the Yankees. All two of them. The first is Roy White. I always liked him. He played during an era when the Yankees weren't very good, and then when the Yankees grew into perennial champions in the late-1970s, he remained above all the petty, obnoxious garbage that went on with that team back then. He was a quiet, consistent performer, much like Bernie Williams, although Williams had more talent. Seeing the huge ovation Williams received from the fans Sunday just goes to show you -- you don't have to be a jerk to be popular in New York. The second memory is my one-and-only trip to Yankee Stadium. It was the day before my birthday. We went down to the game on an overnight visit...
