Night Owl Cards

  I made good progress the last couple days on my gift for Nachos Grande in the Not-So-Secret Santa gift exchange. I didn't want to talk about what he sent me much until I had at least figured out what I was sending. And now that my gift should be on its way probably early next week, I can settle down with what Chris sent. You already saw the Corey Seagers he sent. Those, probably, were what made me happiest, but they were just a small portion of the package. I'll start with one of the "mini movie posters" that were in 2021 Topps Archives. I did almost nothing with this set except accumulate the Dodgers. This was a need and I think I have a page for it, so I am a happy owl.   A couple of random Dodger needs that were not Corey Seager cards. TCDB says I have 22 Dennis Santana Dodgers cards. The latest of the many goodbyes I have made since the loss of my parents doesn't include loved ones or even people I know. Instead, it has to do the with the familiar places in my old hometown. My parents were the last human connections to where I grew up. Most of the people I know from that time scattered to various places long ago. There is no one to visit anymore when I return to the Southern Tier. It's not like I'm going to hang out with my folks' friends. This is a bit sad because I spent the first 20 years of my life in the area. There are many places and spots that mean a lot to me. For example, I walked through the local mall one morning a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a long time just to retrace the steps during one of the greatest three years of my life (1983-85) when I worked at a store in the mall. I finally made it through all 36 packs of the 1989 Fleer box that I received from Johnny's Trading Spot . At 540 cards in the box, obviously I didn't complete the set from those packs since it's 660 cards in total. I'll have to see if it's complete once I add the many '89 Fleer cards already in my collection. The collation was quite good -- this is pre-1990s after all -- absolutely no doubles and just about all the big names of the day. But I don't know why I'm telling you all that boring set-builder stuff because all you want to know is: what errors did I pull??? I'm right on the same page with you. I found myself immediately searching for errors as I was opening the packs. With no real attachment to the set this was what was getting me through 36 packs.
