A couple weeks ago reports came out that Panini America is looking to sell. While this barely causes me to shrug my shoulders, considering its output in the baseball market the last 15 years, it's concerning in another way.   One of the most interested parties in buying Panini is Topps/Fanatics. Topps is interested in Panini's global reach and this would fit right in with Fanatics' desire for world domination. While a sale to Topps would allow some of the brands that Panini made that didn't meet my expectations -- stuff like Donruss and Diamond Kings -- to be retooled into looks I might like better (i.e. have team logos), it also carries the potential for Topps to continue its lazy treatment of many of its sets ... or not publish them at all, as seems to be Fanatics' way.   But what Panini was doing with baseball sets certainly didn't interest me, so it mostly gets a shrug.   I haven't purchased a pack of Panini-whatever in a good long time. The last time ...

Back in good graces

Catching up with the post the other day in which I pleaded to folks to take some of my Dodgers dupes -- your requests have been noted.   I'll gather what I have for specific player interests ( Jeremy doesn't know it until right now, but I sent an envelope to him Friday). Chris Johnson and Brett Alan are throwing caution to the wind and willing to take whatever cards I want out of the house.   So, speaking of post-office trips, I stopped by before work Friday. There was no line and I was out of there with a little time to kill before going into the office. I decided to stop at Walgreen's on the way for a couple of items.   I've mentioned before that Walgreen's is one of those drug stores on my list of offending outlets who either don't sell cards or make things difficult. Walgreen's has made things difficult. Its cards for the last four years are in a locked glass box, way back where the toys are, far away from the registers. If you  want cards you have to...

How 3 cards became 20 with no extra cost

Near the end of October I bought three cards in one of those Twitter/X stack sales that I like to frequent. It was just three because I was trying to scale back a little bit on card costs. I can show the cards I got but there's only two because honestly I don't remember what the third one was. I just know it was a Dodger. The two of them are so fancy I don't even need to show three. People go ape over the Trophy Hunters cards (or the original '90s versions anyway). It's a little too over-the-top for me, but I need my snazzy cards of Mookie. Also I need every parallel of Kershaw. I got these cards from KellysKards . I've bought from him before. Kelly's a pleasant, happy guy and he sells some cards to fund his collecting but he also raises money for worthy causes sometimes, too. So I waited for my cards to arrive and then waited and waited some more. I started to wonder whether I sent the money to him -- I'm that scatter-brained. But I wasn't too con...
