Showing posts with the label Salvador Perez

One team

Before I get to the main theme of the post, I wanted to poll the card bloggers -- at least the ones who use Blogger -- and ask, in the last two weeks or so, what time does your post show up on blog rolls and Blogger's reading list after you post it?   I'm asking because it's been very frustrating for me, hitting publish -- both here and the 1993 Upper Deck blog -- and then not seeing that post pop up on blog rolls/reading list for hours, sometimes a day ... or more.   A couple of examples.   My last post on Saturday, " Going to the Files ," didn't show up on either of those two Blogger notification systems for hours. I published it around 5 p.m., early for me. But it didn't show up until the next day after I got up in the morning -- then there it was, saying I published it 12 hours prior.   On Sunday, I made a post to the 1993 Upper Deck blog. I published it around 2 in the afternoon. At 8:30 p.m., my blog roll, which includes both of my blogs, said thes...

Awesome night card, pt. 231: Plus a loooooong tangent on checklists

Hey, look! It's more 2015 Topps! It's more Salvador Perez! It's ubiquitous ESPN squeezing itself into the photo like it's a picture on a 1983 Fleer card ! This is one of the night cards in 2015 Topps. Obviously, in this day and age, there is no shortage of night cards in current sets. I'm not going to show all of the ones I pulled from 2015 Topps here. But it is interesting to note that I have pulled four of the five checklist cards in Series 1 already and that all of them are night cards. The rest: And I'm showing the backs because I got somethin' to say: The type is very tiny so you'll probably have to click on the image to see what I'm saying. These four checklists indicate that I'm missing the card that features card numbers 1 through 71. I can't be faulted for assuming that the missing card is card #28 or lower, based on checklist subsets of the distant past. But based on recent history I would be wrong. But bef...

Road trip with 2015 Topps

I think I need someone at Topps to call me up and ask me what day I would like the first cards of the year to be delivered to a store near me, because clearly this isn't working out. I tried searching for 2015 Topps earlier in the week a couple of times and came up with nothing. Then, on Wednesday it snowed like a bastard and I couldn't go out. Yesterday, I had one of those ever-living work days lined up: 150 miles of driving and 12 hours of laboring. How in the hell was I going to be able stop at a store to find some cards? Well, I'm a resourceful addict. I carved out some time before entering job hell and hit the drag strip to Target. And there they were. I had intended to pick up a hanger box like I've done most recent years. But I think seeing Puig on the front got to me. I first decided to claim the loose pack that was the first one on the left of a freshly opened box. This would be a fortunate decision. Then I saw the blaster with Over $10 in Coupons In...
