Awesome night card, pt. 277: More Panini weirdness

I am behind in almost everything in life. So why not write an Awesome Night Card post? I haven't done one of these since August! So when someone hassles me about what I haven't done I can say, "well I wrote an Awesome Night Card post, so there!" A round of applause and backslapping will commence. Anyway, I was perusing the Walmart card aisle the other day, which in terms of baseball product means Update and Gallery and THAT'S IT, MISTER. While scanning for anything else, I spotted a blaster of something called Panini Chronicles Baseball. I had no idea what it was. I hadn't heard about it -- not that I keep up on that stuff anymore. Since it was Panini, I kept a safe distance away and told myself I'd do a background check when I found the time. I just did one of those and I honestly have no idea what it is still. The best I can gather is it's some sort of mash-up of Panini brands with a story written on the front and back and with the usual ...

3 packages ina mailbox: is this my Secret Santa?

The other day, much to my relief, the post office employee handed me my receipt and said, "it should get there by the 23rd." As for me, I don't know whether I've received my Secret Santa gift. None of the packages I've received have identified them as such. And most of the packages I'...

Something to read during another sleepless night

Fellow Supertrader Junior Junkie fired off one last post office salvo before disappearing into the world of first-time parenthood recently. I completely understand why he did -- who knows when he'd be able to send out packages again? Those babies are harsh taskmasters. Anytime anyone has a child for the first time, it reminds me of when my daughter was born, and all of the things that went along with it. Sure, there was uncertainty and wonder and endless diaper changing. I always figured that the diaper-changing would be the worst part of new parenthood. But you end up changing diapers so frequently during a single day that it becomes as mundane as anything else you do multiple times a day. No, it's not the diapering that I remember the most. It's the lack of sleep. I have never been so tired -- and there are a lot of times when I have been exhausted in a lot of different situations -- than when I was the daddy to a newborn child. You know going in that it's...
