G.A.T.S.

It's been a rainy day here and there's more rain in the forecast for today. But in the midst of vacation, I'm on a little summer nostalgia kick, thinking about the warm, sunny weather and playing baseball in the yard when I was a kid. The only reason this Beckham "When They Were Young" card is featured here is because out of all the WTWY cards, this is the one that looks the most like me when I was little. Actually, it looks a lot like my brother. Beckham, in his current state, bears a slight resemblance to my brother. Very slight. When we were kids, we used any excuse to play baseball. I'm realizing how different it was back then. Sure, we had organized baseball teams and leagues, but you didn't need organization to play ball then. Whenever we could, we would find our neighborhood friends and head to the local high school field and play baseball. I'm trying really hard not to say "who are these guys?"

I recently opened six hobby packs of 2009 Tri -Star Projections Series 2. They were my winnings for taking first prize in a contest at Boxbusters . Many thanks to Ross. It was an interesting prize because I am about as far from a prospect guy as you can get. And I feel guilty about that. I'm constantly running into baseball fans who can tell me about this prospect and that prospect in their favorite team's organization. I can't do that. I know a handful of Dodger up-and-comers and you can put a blanket over the rest of them, because I ain't got a freakin ' clue. So, as you can imagine, opening six packs of a set of nothing but prospects was the equivalent of a 10-minute blank stare. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining the packs were. I've read on some blogs about how much they dislike Tristar , but after opening the packs I have a different viewpoint. The cards aren't all that bad.
