Color my world

I love color. Have I established this? I have. How much do I love color? I love color so much that I'm envious of women in the summertime and black NFL players at the ESPYs. I'd like to wear something as showstopping as all that. I love color so much that I want to be one of those artists who throws different shades of paint against a wall and people rave about it. I love color so much that I never want to be color-blind, a dog or live in the '50s. I always want to see color and all of it. This is why my favorite baseball card sets are the same ones that some consider garish, ugly or the worst ever. They want to live in a dignified, well-balanced, limited hue world. How dull of them. I'll be over here trying to win the lights and display contest . Yep, I've gone commercial. And tonight, I'm going to roll around in that beautiful palette and reveal a post I've been sitting on for a long time. I'm going to count down the Top 10 most colorf...

He knows what I like

I haven't seen Max around much lately. I know he's got a busy life and all, and that's cool. I certainly understand busy. It's just that I really like receiving card packages from him. I like them because he gets it. He gets how I collect. He knows how I collect. He knows what I like. A little while ago he dropped off a package of goodies, in what I interpreted as an "I'm still here" gesture. It was filled with stuff that I like. Let me show you: Dodgers. No question. I like the Dodgers. They've won two in a row, you know. I like that. Shiny. Yes, I like shiny quite a bit. Even, dullish mid-90s Bowman shiny. ... OK, that's not fair. Shiny can never be dull. Let me go back to "I like shiny." I'll end it right there. Colorful shiny. Now we're talking. Yes, color shiny I definitely like. 1994 Finest I definitely like. The carnival midway set is one of my most favorite versions of Finest. There is a lot ...

Uncle dayf says it's OK!

I'm paraphrasing here, but dayf has declared February "If You Don't Like My Trade Post, You Can Stick It" Month. What a relief! At last, a mandate to get all my trade posts in order. I can plow through trade post after trade post and everyone will have to read them because that is the thing you DO during IYDLMTPYCSI Month! No guilt. No research. No loud snoring from Thorzul. It's the card blogging equivalent of  "Thank You Sir, May I Have Another." OK, it's not that bad. Nobody's going to be in their underpants. But I must ask you to sit down, shut up, and enjoy a trade post. As ordered by an arbitrarily named month. The latest trade post displays the cards delivered by Mark of Mark's Ephemera . These cards were sent before he recently declared that he has an overabundance of kettles . He's OK with that, but I'm glad I have my cards in hand nonetheless. You never know when someone will spill kettle contents on cards. Thi...

Finally. Maybe.

Yes, I've changed the blog look again. I realize that you think this makes me an indecisive malcontent who is never satisfied with anything. You know me well. Actually, that's only partially true. The reason I changed the blog template again is because blogger has this new template design thing with more options, and I finally found what I was looking for back when I changed the template the first time. I wanted a dark "night owl" look that wouldn't be too difficult to read. For a long time there was nothing like that. Now there is. I'd like to say this is the last change I'll make. But I'm not ready to make that commitment. I'll only say that this is my last change -- until I like something better. But while I'm in my present euphoria over the new look (this is all starting to sound like finding a new girlfriend), I should christen it properly. And the proper way to do these things is a trade post. Trade posts are the foundation on which ...
