Night Owl Cards

  I don't have very much time for cards today, nor tomorrow. But a Very Important Package arrived at my home last night and it's got to be addressed in some sort of fashion here.   Yes, this is the start of approximately 158 posts about 2024 Heritage on this blog this year. You're welcome!   I went ahead and pre-ordered a box of Heritage over the weekend. I chose Dave & Adam's for one very strategic reason: I live less than four hours away from the place and I knew I'd get it fast. I did not expect it to show up the day before release date. For the first time in my life, I had it in my hands on release date (which is today, FYI).   That's appropriate since I have been waiting for this set since I knew what Heritage was, which was around 2006.   First, I want to apologize for shunning your 2023 Topps Series 1 posts. I wanted to look at them, I really did, but I was trying to avoid First Cards Of The Year Overkill. That's difficult to do when you're on social media, especially bleeping Twitter. I made a concerted effort to cut down on viewing 2023 images but a few flashers jumped in front of me -- HERE, TAKE A LOOK AT THIS . YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT!   It was tough to avert my eyes. It was a little easier on the blogs. As soon as I got a hint that the subject was 2023 Topps I jumped out of the chat. I did succumb to a couple (Card Junk and Padrographs, I think) and left a comment. The first four years of this blog, you could find me in the card aisle at a Target or Walmart at least once a week, possibly twice a week, even three times a week a few times. The name of the game back then was the very latest. Get it, show it, maybe even before anyone else did. Since I don't live in a large metropolitan area, I would often lament the amount of time it took for the most recent product to arrive on store shelves here. Fast forward eight years to the very weird year of 2020. You can find me in a Target maybe once every two months. You can't find me in a Walmart at all. I probably haven't shown the latest cards first on my blog in at least two years. The game has changed, because I have changed, the blogs and social media has changed, and the world has changed.
