Cool For Cats
Lou Donaldson - Blues Walk [BST-81593 2022 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
For those who missed a Sunday evening jazz fix this week, and for all those who may have become a little jazz curious, here is another from the current Blue Note Classic Series of reissues mastered all analogue from Rudy Van Gelder's original master tapes by Kevin Gray.
I am just about to start ripping again after a busy August & September away from my collection, this rip was made before my recent summer break and features one of the coolest jazz albums ever recorded, even for those discovering the genre, this album makes for essential listening. Enjoy!
A1 Blues Walk
A2 Move
A3 The Masquerade Is Over
B1 Play Ray
B2 Autumn Nocturne
B3 Callin' All Cats

ReplyDeleteMarvelous ........ thankyou !
ReplyDeletea quick note for fellow listeners: you may notice that the bongos on "play ray" get a little hot at times, and even outright distort (particularly audible during the tag at the end). as the comments on discogs will attest, this is in fact a known issue with the pressing – a rare gaffe in the BN classic series. not sure how it passed QC, but just wanted to make sure everyone knows this isn't an issue with your speakers or with TN's rip (excellent as always) :)
ReplyDeleteThrough the many decades of listening to and collecting jazz recordings I, somehow, have no Lou Donaldson!? That changes right now. Many thanks!
