Lanterns On The Lake - Beings [BELLA 493V UK 2015 24-Bit FLAC] Lanterns On The Lake are an eclectic indie-rock band from Newcastle who peaked with this excellent album on Simon Raymonde's Bella Union label a few years back. Hazel Wilde's vocal style obscurely fits between Elizabeth Fraser and Kate Bush, the skilled musical accompaniment holds hints of Sigur Rós, thus making Beings an intriguing listen. This could have been a great album if the label had not chosen to press the vinyl from over-compressed masters. I find that too much of this style of music dulls the senses into boredom, however an album's worth of Lanterns On The Lake is just enough to maintain my enjoyment and hold my interest. Enjoy.
