It gets very cold up in Norway and the original line-up of Fra Lippo Lippi made some very cold Norwegian new wave. Fra Lippo Lippi - Small Mercies [UNITON 017 NOR 1983 24-Bit FLAC] I picked up an original copy of Small Mercies quite cheaply at a recent record fair. There is evidence of a little wear in places, however I'm pleased to get a reasonable rip from the vinyl. The music itself is mastered quite quietly so that only serves to emphasise  the occasional noise. Don't let that put you off what is a great album, however if you want to hear a CD rip, just hop over to the other place. For me personally this is their greatest work, like the missing link between their doomy post-punk releases and the glossy, grown-up pop of the two Virgin albums. There are delightful melodies throughout, led by a gently strummed & plucked guitar and piano which compliment each other superbly. Just think... a bit more butch than China Crisis, and a little less thought provoking than Black or The Blue Nile. The opening Some Things Never Change will just hook you up and reel you in, I promise! ...
