Eric Dolphy - Out There [APRJ 8252 USA 2022 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] I am no jazz aficionado, however it is easy to discover that the genre comes in many styles & flavours. Conceived as free-jazz, Eric Dolphy's unique genre-defying 1961 album, Out There ...is totally out there. The visionary saxophonist, clarinetist & flutist uses the great Ron Carter's cello to create further melodies, pinned down by a double bass and sparse percussion breaks, all unusually without the need for a piano. Rudy Van Gelder recorded & produced these events at his home studio in Hackensack, and this new pressing is cut from those original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. This will be the inal 'Jazz Sunday' for the next few weeks as a vacation beckons, I'll see if I can include something extra later this week before I disappear until mid/late July.
